Come take a walk with me while we show you things to see and do around the beautiful ancient area of Dunster, with a magnificent Castle, 18th Century watermill and possibly the prettiest and best preserved Medieval village and gardens.
Dunster Castle is positioned on a large commanding hill within Exmoor national park. In its 1000 year history the castle has gone through many transformations from a motte and Bailey to the grand Lavish country home you see today.
The village of Dunster is one of Englands prettiest medieval villages. It is well preserved keeping its historic charm and It has over 200 listed buildings. It is lined with many cafes, independent shops selling local arts and crafts and great restaurants. During the early medieval period the sea reached the base of the hill, close to the mouth of the river Avill offering a natural defence and making the village an inland port, making it an important hub for trading goods.
