2 sides to this story: Benefits vs. Annual fee. And there is a balance there per person. If the annual fee doesn't make sense (or you don't want to pay it), reconsider the card. If the benefit no longer align, then reconsider the card. The raising of the annual fee is a business decision. Where's the $1 Menu at McDonald's? Did I just show some age? haha

Nice video Nell. Yeah I will be dropping the Amex Gold when increased AF hits next Feb 2025. I got the BCP for 6% cash back for groceries and have USBAR for 3x on mobile wallet. If business does not accept tap to pay, have plenty of options for 3x dining with BILT, CFU

I’m grandfathered in to the old Gold Card annual fee but I don’t feel like I’m getting any benefits anymore. This is the only card of mine that has an annual fee. I’m getting much more out of my newer cards. I have until 31 July 2024 to decide. It’s not an affordability issue for me.

The only credit card I have with an annual fee is the American Express Blue Cash preferred. I like the fact that I'm earning 6% on grocery shopping what is my biggest expense after rent. I might go out to eat once or twice a month so dining is not a big spending category. I don't own a car since I work remotely from home. So I don't get much use out of 3% on gas unless I'm going on a road trip with a rental car. 6% on streaming really doesn't work because they do not include your internet provider if they're bundled together with the television package.
