Listening to this song breaks my heart knowing that Chester actually did give up. This song was a cry for help, and it's sad that no one was able to help him. He's missed by so many. No one could ever replace him or his voice. 😞 RIP Chester 🖤
It's really hard for me to watch the live aol set without tearing up. He's just pleading :( and how he says he's suffocating and what he did. It hurts a lot to think about
Yeah man, Chester struggled with depression for a long ass time, He also struggled with drug addiction. Yet Chester had one of the biggest hearts out there. Seems like even in 2020 people don't fully understand how emotion can be best expressed through music. I don't know for certain and I'm sure someone can correct me on this, as much as I love Linkin Park and grew up with them I never really got into the nitty gritty of his suicide or 'suicide' depending on who you ask. I feel music was a way Chester was not only making people more aware that these feelings are serious and shouldn't be ignored or frowned upon, but also a way he could just express his own feelings and dare I say maybe asking for help (maybe not).. Not only that but also giving youth and adults alike that may also be suicidal a way to connect and understand that there are many others in the world struggling as well. That they are not alone. Most of Linkin Parks songs cover pretty heavy subjects and it may not always be the most evident but there is a lot of emotion and heart put into every song. It's why they have such a strong community, it's real music.
I don't think he is aware of his death. He commited suicide 3 yrs ago. My opinion all Linkin Park song were a clue of what he was going through.#RIPCHESTER.

Rest In Peace Chester he sang like an angel... screams like a demon and died as a legend... Thats why we want you to react to Linkin Park :) love your vids broo
It’s the honesty and the transparency of the lyrics, paired with the incredible talent and musical performance. LINKIN PARK weren’t afraid to talk about their struggles, and put them out there so that other people who were struggling could know that they weren’t alone. This band will always hold a very special place in my heart. 🖤🤘🏼🤘🏼
As someone who cried when he died because of how much their music resonated with me and it's such a huge loss, I have to agree with everything you said. Their music got me through so much shit from the earlier years and even through now they've always had that ability to pull on those strings and make me think it's gonna be better. The hardest part, besides him being gone to some of those same struggles, is that there isn't anything new to come. There was always that looking forward mentality and it ended so abruptly. RIP Chester.
i got to see LP live back in 2007 or 08, they did this song. When Chester did the scream, the entire concert venue went silent, once he stopped, well you can imagine the mosh pits that erupted.
If you hear anything, hear this. You may not feel like "giving up" but MANY of us are struggling with this feeling. This song speaks to us for many reasons. Whether it be how hard core it is, how long he can hold that note, being a Linkin Park fan, the beat, whatever. But many can relate to the lyrics. A lot. Not to mention, as everyone keeps saying, Chester took his life so this song REALLY hits a cord with that reality. Once you can truly empathize with what he and others are feeling, I have a feeling this song, and others, will be 10 times more powerful to you. This was in no way an attack. I adore you. Just feelings from one person to another.
Because there are times when you cant keep that positivity so when you're lost in the darkness, Although not positive, is a way to release those bad vibes and thoughts.
I can't speak for anyone else but I love this song because when it first came out I was a depressed teenager who didn't think anyone else felt the way I did. Hearing him not only sing but SCREAM my thoughts helped me feel less alone and actually helped fight the negative feelings, because instead of trying to keep a positive mental attitude and push those feelings down it helped release that negative energy and process it a bit :) of course I didn't understand that at the time and didn't actually get diagnosed with depression until I was 29... but looking back at it Linkin Park helped me survive some tough teenage years!
Whenever i listen to LP songs i now realise that how Chester was always giving hints and clues about his condition.... It was like a cry for help via his songs 💔 I still can't get over his death 😭😭

This song, and Linkin Park's music overall, has gotten me through some really rough places mentally and emotionally. It helps to get those negative feelings out.
I have always viewed this type of music as a way to overcome feelings of entrapment to express them, and put word to negative emotions running through. So that we don’t just bottle things inside.🧐🤓😎

The primary reason for this song becoming an anthem: Chester Bennington’s 17-second-long scream has made this song famous as being his ACTUAL cry for help. His soul couldn’t take any more, and we were all too stupid to understand that this wasn’t just another angst song; it was Chester trying to reach out. RIP to one of rock’s absolute legends 😢🤘🏻

Chester & Linkin Park in general gave a TON of us the courage to reach out to others and admit that we have these thoughts. When people say they’re “battling demons” it’s no joke when you think about what those two words actually mean. From someone who has fought the battle since I was 7 or 8. I’m 46 now. It’s easy to say that you win the battle in your mind... it’s next to impossible to describe the raging, tearing, desperate, bleeding, screaming, climbing on broken glass on your hands and knees uphill fight, trying so hard to stay calm and focused and logical and practical... when EVERYTHING in your consciousness and body actually sound and feel like that 17-second scream. Chester fought with everything he had. For some, the effort of fighting sucks the life out of us and we die inside... many then take their actual lives. Like Chester did. His death still tears at my soul, but I’m grateful to the band and Chester in particular for giving us a musical legacy that helps so many of us to keep fighting. Chester couldn’t keep fighting. I understand & I don’t fault him for it. He said in an interview once that his mind is a bad neighborhood and he shouldn’t go in there alone. Unfortunately he got lost and died in that neighborhood. Life trapped in a haunted house of a mind is nearly impossible to explain to someone who hasn’t battled depression, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and so many more and for a lot of people, addiction... is actually like. You’re being water boarded half the time by your own brain chemistry and when it lets up, you can’t let your guard down because you know it’s coming back. Chester lived it. Chester wrote it. Chester sang it. Chester screamed it. And in the end it killed him. I will keep fighting because I have to, for me, my kids, my whole family... and because I want to honor Chester’s memory by using the tools he helped to give me. There’s a hashtag that’s been around since he died in July 2017. I will always hold to it because he fought so hard, for so long, for us. #MakeChesterProud 🤘🏻😢🖤
The verse missing from the video, for those not as familiar with the song was: "I hyperventilate / looking for help somehow some where / and no one cares." That's _real_ depression right there. Even when you do finally get yourself going, just enough, to ask for help, there's so many times that it feels like nobody gives a damn about what you're going through or wants to be bothered when you do finally ask for help. Trust me from experience, it might take a while, but eventually find the right people to help you. You don't have to do it alone.
Apart from the rhythm/beat/energy of this song; and the scream, this song took away the loneliness i felt. I finally felt like there was someone else who felt just as i did, That is why I love this song (I turned 17 the day the album came out)
I've replayed this song probably 10 times today. Helps me relieve my anger and depression. Rip to chester. Thanks fir the great music thst keeps me from checking out eariy man.

LOST IN THE ECHO - LINKIN PARK !
I never really payed attention to the lyrics until he passed away, now it's hard to enjoy this song now, and a lot of other songs they made.
These guys got me through the toughest times in my life, I feel I owe them my life to be a good person and never give up.
Chester is music world LEGENDS 😍😍 miss you brother 😢😢😞
3:20 The question. 4:06 onwards: The answer.

"I'm my own worst enemy" yo Lay remember their song Papercut?? And that is this
Apart from the rhythm/beat/energy of this song; and the scream,
this song took away the loneliness i felt. I finally felt like there was someone else who felt just as i did, That is why I love this song (I turned 17 the day the album came out)
This man was crying out for help and nobody even caught it . It’s sad 😞 one of the best artists ever . Rip Chester
Listen to forgotten, is a masterpiece
