    Hey, handsome… don’t worry about stepping on the graves… many times what you are taking for headstones are really footstones so you’re walking on them anyway… I don’t think they’d mind considering your visiting them and giving them immortality just by recording the stones… great work. I’m a fan.

    Congratulations! I have always been intrigued by history things such as cemeteries, old houses, old churches, old farms, etc. Didn’t even think to go as far into it as you (and others) have gone but boy, love it! You were the first channel like this I have found and only one I watch. I’m basically home bound these days with health things which after being so independent doesn’t help with depression. Thank you for lightening some of these days and just being an interesting, laid back, “real” type person that I have learned so much from. God Bless you Ron!

    Near my grandparents’ graves there is a stone that reads “Norma Strom Spacek and baby”. I don’t remember the year but the month was December. As a child visiting the graves I would wander around and read stones. This one always made me sad, a family anticipating a newborn at Christmas but then losing both baby and mom.

    • @nanaof7preciousgrands115
      @nanaof7preciousgrands115 Před 3 lety +5

      So very sad ...up north Michigan wgeremy dad is buried in an old country church graveyard , we have seen a family plot where all the babies died before age 2. Like 7 babies all from same parents. Such a tragic situation, I can't imagine their heartbreak. And really makes you wonder why that happened..late 1800s or early 1900s I believe. Next time I go to clean up my dads and grandparents graves I will photograph them and see if I can learn anything about the family.

    Congratulations on your one year anniversary. I live close to Rosehill Cemetery and frequently visit. I always pay my respect to the grave of Julius Rosenwald. He was the founder of Sears Company and built and paid for many schools for African Americans among many other philanthropic activities. I admire his generosity and humility. He was one of the richest person during his time. He helped a lot of black people by building schools for them when many people just did not care. People should learn more about Mr. Rosenwald. To me, he is a real American idol. I hope that you visit his grave too. It is very easy to locate. He was buried there with his wife.

    Congratulations on 1st anniversary. There is an archaeological technique called photogrammetry which can be used to decipher faded/worn inscriptions. For anyone out there doing research in their local cemetery this may be a technique they could try. It does require taking numerous pictures and using photogrammetry software.

    Thank you Ron. Watching your channel has been a joy, educational, my older sons along with my husband and I love watching. Because of you my younger children also watch when I watch a video. You keep it clean.even the live. People on here are very respectful. I I apperciate that. My how a year has flew by. Sometimes they watch before I do. My oldest son said mom he kind of look like David Hasselhoff.🙂. I missed this one. But watching today. It's very humid in the south right now. Get kind of stuffy. But just want to say, I have a full family
    Between work and my family. My days are full. But to.sit back with a cold glass of tea and watch is very refreshing. And anytime you can get teenage boys to sit and watch. Make you a hero in our book.i still use my maiden name for bussiness and privacy reasons. We have family all over. I love history.love looking at old headstone. And statues. So again a big thank you from my family to you. You are a true Gentleman, you keep your channel clean. On live most are respectful having young children my husband and I apperciate that
    Children watch as well as adults. My mother in law and uncle also live either in our home or on the property. One thing for certain and two for sure, one day we are all going to pass. Either be buried or cremated.death happens. For us we have planned ahead. Question is his family cemetary or mines. Probaly his for me and him.we won't force our children, they have visited all of them. It's thier choice. Hopefully after losing one. The rest will live past us.again thank you for how we watch, learn and sometimes laugh together.👍💯💙🙌🙏✨🦋🌠💛🤗🥰🙂🙂🌻🌷🌟💫. Neita and family.🙂👋.

    Love your channel, my husband is French and when we were living there I visited a lot of cemeteries .There is one in Paris that I visited because I was searching for the tomb of" Las dama de Las Camilias."Its a book by Alexandre Dumas it's the true story of one of his lovers who was a courtesan in Paris in the 1800s. The movie Camile with Greta Grabo as the actress portraying her in the 1920s movie was her real live she died of tuberculosis and she would always have a white Camilla flower in her hair or dress so thats why they called her the Dama de Las Camilas .Beautiful story,I found the tomb where everyone leaves a Camillia flower in her tomb, I took one and I have it pressed on that book by Alexandre Dumas
    .You can walk for hours in these cemeteries and never finish seeing all these wonderful tombs

    I learned something interesting about thin flat stones that are set directly in the ground. At least one third of the stone has to be set underground in another stone for stability. Most cemeteries will no longer allow these types of stones. They tend to tilt and move easily. They can no longer be used in Great Britain.

      Best friend has parents and a son buried in Rosehill (new section) across Peterson Avenue. There are flat stones flush with the ground there, so the lawn can easily be mowed. Very differed from the old section where my family is buried.

    • @IrishAnnie
      @IrishAnnie Před 3 lety +1

      @@janicesullivan8942 Yes, many cemeteries no longer allow the Tall stones that used to Grace cemeteries. Now they want them to be flush to the ground for easy maintenance. Unfortunately, many of them disappear over time. This year, we are paying to have some of the plaques pushed back up to the surface so they can be seen instead of being gobbled up with soil. My husband and I have a plot in a section of the cemetery that allows a tall stone. That way the kids can find us!

    Congratulations 🎊 Ron! I joined in shortly after you started. You got me through the pandemic! Even when you were recovering from Covid, you still did us a fantastic service! God bless and many more years to come 👏!

    I had no idea I have been watching you almost from the beginning of your channel. Finally had to join I enjoyed it so much. My husband and I both enjoy finding old cemeteries and wondering about the lives of those who are there.

    Ron, Congratulations on your first year. This cemetery had some interesting head stones and mausoleums. The work in the big granite ball is amazing. Makes you think on how it was made. I always enjoy your work.

    Congrats Ron on our anniversary 🎊💞💥💜. Love that place....so many beautiful and unique tombstones. Thank you so much for the journeys and history lessons you've given to us....and the compassion you've shown to the regular folks but keeping their life alive and the stones you've bought for less fortunate souls 😇. GOD BLESS YOU 🤴💗🕊️
