Thank you for the awesome help... For those of you looking to do this to their sending unit, I ordered two of the similar style fittings from Summit and it worked great. I used a pipe cutter and didn't have to clean up the sending unit line. The entire thing took about 10 minutes.

I always felt the simplest way to do a fuel delivery system was to take off the Hood and have a buddy lay on the roof of your car with a five-gallon gas tank drizzling gas into the carburetor.
However, that may not work on your fuel injected setup.

I see ls swap companies trying to rip people off for alot of money for a 73-87 fuel injection tank. Dont fall for it. In 87 all the squarebody where fuel injected and lmc sells the 87 fuel injection tank 16 gallon (32-5937) for 99.95 and the 20 gallon (32-5932) for a 119.95

Easiest i found for the sending unit/pump is to use a pump for a 96-98 350 vortec. Has to be vortec. Both vortec 350 and 5.3 run at 52psi fuel pressure so pump works with it and i goes in the 87 sending unit with very VERY slight modifications. Overall savings about 300
