  • Over the summer I was lucky enough to be able to take a 3 week trip to Switzerland. To start the trip I had a 142 mile hike from Engelberg to Montreux along the Via Alpina. This trail runs the entire length of Switzerland and Liechtenstein, but I stuck to the more popular western half.

On of the best videos i´ve seen on the topic. Perfect balance of nice views, relevant comments, timing, music - everything. Keep up the good work. Hope to see more from you...

Hey there, thanks for putting the video together it was very well done!
I have a question I hope you can help me with, I plan on going this summer. Do you know if people tend to pre book the huts? We'd like to be flexible and turn up, but on the other hand we dont want to be left homeless for the night, thanks!
Also do you recommend any online resources for accomodation/info in general? Thanks again!

What month was this? Asking cos some months have snow in high altitudes, so timing helps. Did you not use a tent? Heard you mention others camping in a cow pasture & also heard cow bells. Did you sleep amongst cows? I`d be paranoid accidentally getting trampled by them or them getting busy with their horns. Clearly, I‘m a bit out of my element. lol And what happens to number 2’s? 😶‍🌫️

This was early august, almost all the snow was gone except for a couple glaciers I went by. I used a bivy instead of a tent (I plan on making a video to explain more about them).
Most of the hike is through cow pastures, but since they fall asleep right when the sun goes down they aren't a problem. I'm not used to being around them, so when they blocked the trail I got a little nervous haha. And for that last one you just bring a trowel with you.

Is it frowned upon to camp near the ski lifts? Why?

Not that I know of, but I just didn't want to be waking up to confused people that rode up for the view.
