Rimu, Totara and Matai are indigenous trees and Tui, Kaka and Kea are indigenous birds - they evolved here. However, humans clearly did not. But if you look at the Google dictionary, when it comes to people, it means people who were there/here before colonisation. This is some made up thing from the UN and its policy on indigenous people, so its bigger than us. I'll say nothing about the Moriori thing other that they were Taranaki youth. The treat was signed by iwi leaders and Waitangi Tribunal makes payments to iwi - what does that mean to the Maori community? I know a rural guy, who's septic tank crapped out - he had to get permission from the local iwi before he could fix it. It cost $500, but they didn't even check it, just gave permission. All this Maori language being interspersed among the English is not helpful for comprehension. I know a few Maori words, but it is getting out of hand. Are people who are not Kiwis and schooled in Maori, e.g Australians, just supposed to rush for a dictionary every time the latest Maori phrase is used. So conversations like this become all very "clubby" a Kiwi thing that outsiders just walk away from.

Or maybe instead of walking away fly away maybe to france where you'd probably need to learn to speak french or to china where you would need to learn to speak chinese.
Also the Maori language is not interspersed, it was rejected years ago and Maori weren't allowed to speak their own language in their own country, it is slowly being restored and so it should, no ones asking you to take part, but maybe stand aside.

Maori have a history of having their power, voices weakened and this carries down, so i dont know why Shane is saying Maori should just go take power freely as if they are equal.
Shanes position and actions are evidence of this weakness and he clearly takes the side that gives him power, proving when he sides with Maori as well he has no power.

The Maori text came from Busby's draft.
The so called English version is an invention based on James Freeman's rogue version and official english back translations of the 1860s

Maori are 'tangata whenua' to this country who had the power to initiate and officially formalise on the 28th of October 1835, at the home of British Resident James Busby in Waitangi, 34 (with a further 24 chiefs being added) northern chiefs to sign He Wakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tireni (known in English as the Declaration of Independence of the United Tribes of New Zealand).
The handwritten document consisting of four articles asserted that mana (authority) and sovereign power in New Zealand resided fully with Māori, and that foreigners would not be allowed to make laws. Te Whakaminenga, the Confederation of United Tribes, was to meet at Waitangi each autumn to frame laws, and in return for their protection of British subjects in their territory, they sought King William's protection against threats to their mana. They also thanked William IV (William Henry; 21 August 1765 - 20 June 1837) King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Ireland and of Hanover for acknowledging their flag.

Mihi a beautiful intelligent wahine Maori, is not a 'tart'-prostitute. Even if she was, she'd be in the 1% high class, elite, top tier of that business and way out of your league.
Excellent questions Mihi with iron sharpening iron.
Got to ❤ the diverse challenges of Te Ao Maori.

Not being rude but this stems from Joanne Forbes having children with Duncan GARNER to progress her career.
It was well known that wokeness and Maori heritage was also a way forward on Social points to progress ones career too.
We are all one now regardless on heritage, however mass immigration needs to stop!!!

An interesting interview! NZ is a similar size to the UK, but NZ's population is 5m while the UK's population is 68m. Immigrants typically add a lot of value to the countries in which they settle. They bring new intellectual and material wealth. They tend to be very hardworking. They tend to be grateful for the opportunity to live in a new country. So, why Shane is concerned about immigration is perplexing. Limiting immigration will stifle NZ's economic future, not improve it.

Uk has always been a very rich nation and still is. NZ is not rich. Immigrants like Australia more. Australia is rich.

@@jackiebiggs7071 There should, of course, be a screening process for people applying to immigrate to NZ, although religion shouldn't be a disqualifying factor... Stats NZ's website lists the origin of the people moving to NZ with the largest being India (44,978), Philippines (34,268), China (16,408), Fiji (9,854), and South Africa (8,319).

@@neil3488 the state of Europe and Britain is a warning about who is suitable to live in a democratic secular society. The evidence is abundantly clear what happens when numbers increase dramatically. A certain group is no longer longer quiet and and not attracting attention instead threats and demands are made to change the fabric of our society. Just in the last 2 weeks a politician in Britain has resigned due to threats to his life from an ever increasing Islamic population which doesn't integrate and demand things be more 'Islamic' aka as sharia law which we know their views on gay people and women's rights.
