This conversation made me think of my family and generational dysfunction. I just graduated with a Masters degree in Software Engineering. I included them in a group chat thanking them for support and love after my graduation. They said im being snobby and rubbing it in their face. Yet my cousin gets out of jail and they started a group chat congratulating him. Im absolutely dumbfounded by this not hating on my cousin im glad he’s home but it really makes me want to distance myself.
Damn I can’t even imagine having my only support system being so insecure they can’t congratulate me. I’m sorry you gottta deal with that. If you have the energy and love to do so, you gotta be straight forward and let them know they’re insecure about your success in some way or another, no matter how difficult the convo is.
No don’t tell them they’re insecure that’s not emotionally intelligent. The fact is you have to be STOIC. Be the rock your family truly needs you to be. There’s no love lost only more understanding of the situation. These things you can’t take personal because this situation is just as new for them as it is for you. Be understanding, patient, and rational. Remain humble and don’t fall for the trap of telling a person about themself unless they are wise enough in your character judgement to make those necessary acknowledgments and changes. A little long winded but necessary hope it helps.
Obviously they are struggling with chronic stagnation and some stunted character development 😬. Not everyone can make it as far as U have thru a super complex labyrinth of internal and external hurdles amongst constant political, social, economic, spiritual and possibly health related challenges. U must forge ahead toward greater expansion and offer support and solidarity, but with skillful boundaries and buffer zones - they can take U down with both conscious and unconsciously destructive patterns. But always remember - THEY ARE YOU!!! 🤔👌🏽💜🌎💯🦉 So its always a humbling and somewhat perplexing state of affairs. THEY are how YOU came forth into Being Human 👍🏾🤓
@@rtoomer92 this is the best answer.
God bless you
I love how Pharrell breaks down the spirituality and divinity of music, the source of it and being true to your creations through sonic connection.
You can feel the real spirituality in r.kelly music.
@@silambarasan__rajendran lmaooo yo
why is pharell talking black ambition when he dose not look blackkkk
Pharrell's analogies for life are second to none. That Library gem was 🔥
Yes it was, 💯💯💪🏾
Especially his production catalogue is insanely brilliant. I respect what Pharrell has brought to the music business for 20 years.
Totally agree! From Scandinavian music artists! 🔥
Pharrell seems like the type of person you walk away from conversations with even more knowledgeable.
i love leaving conversaions like that, but mine go on for hours and its usually bed time when the convvo is overr (or morning 😂)
@@beatsbythekilo but who th are you
@@ShinyFlakesShinyFlakes
Does it really matter who he is? As long as he’s leaving people thinking positively.
Ya don’t say???

tHE WAY Steve Stoute receives Pharrell's analogies undervalues how amazing they are
Pharrell age like fine wine. Take care of yourself, you will look young.
The kind of conversations im about.

Totally agree! From Scandinavian music artists! 🔥

REAL TALK
I like how they’re in pharrells hotel in Miami that’s a cute touch
Ikr!
and the grammy in the backround was a cute touch to Pharrells Hotel in Miami
Does he own it? Or is he the public face of the hotel?🤔
@@northernking6610 there’s a new video about it on Architectural Digest or something like that. It just opened recently. He’s part owner.
I don't think you guys understand the impact this interview will have. Thank you so much.
What impact will it have?
True story...
@@thetruthsayer8347 an impact you can’t imagine, apparently.
@@thetruthsayer8347 lol, wait like another year
Honestly, this advice is priceless. I just got offered a record and publishing deal as described, and this conversation convinced me to follow my own path, believe in myself and don't be seduced by the money aspect of it. Thanks Pharrell and Steve! You guys are legends
Hope you ain't played yourself cos of corp marketing Antics 🤷🏾♀️
💪🏾
exactly though, this is general information for everyone, it's not racially specific, Black people ain't generally stupid or lazy, I feel these guys are condescending as if because I'm Black I don't realise my potential and I need a scheme to help me. I am a Black man, I am not a boy.
No disrespect to you Blue Neuville
@@dizmop the issue is that most black people do not have the resources and access to circles to realise their potential. I've been lucky to see the difference and I have access to people and information that is not available to most black people. It should not be the case but it is
@@northside2southside12 I understand what you mean. I just think it's important to prove to myself that I can get my music out there, build a fanbase without being dependent on someone else. I experienced in the past that having a manager and so on gave me an excuse to put the blame on someone else if things didn't go as planned or as I imagined they would. In addition if you look at these deals they really do take most of the ownership of your creations until eternity. This is no joke, it really says 'eternity' in these contracts. What they basically do is give you money you can live of for a period of time and be comfortable but they take almost all your rights. If your music blows up you almost see no money and you're back where you started. As an argument they let you believe that there are these gate keepers at radio, tv and so on. And that without these mediums it is impossible to get your music out there ,which is bullshit. The first song I released got played over 2.5 million times on Spotify, entered the charts on French radio and gets more plays everyday. I think the smart thing to do is saving up your own money and betting on yourself. I truly believe that the music I made over the past years and that I am going to release is going to be appreciated by people no matter if I am signed with a label, publisher or not
Pharrell mentions the Akashic records and the Aquarius age! 🤯🙏🏽 Man I love this guy! We are blessed to witness this conversation. I know his 1st NFT will be nuts!
Watching this made my week. More of these conversations please. Love and respect to Steve and Pharrell.
I been putting my music out with United Masters for the last 3 years, and feel so grateful, and blessed to have my music distributed by them.Thank you Steve and Pharrell for this video. Keep shining the light ! My deepest love and respect .
If you have a Black child, it is your responsibility to ensure they hear this and then have a conversation about it. This is a survival guide as to what is REALLY going on!
@Win From Within …nice try. 😜 …take several seats homeboy.
I LOVE that the conversation in the black community is more and more about ownership. That's really one of the absolute biggest keys to freedom. The other big one is supporting each other in that growth. The support could be encouragement, knowledge, (this is a prime example of it), and purchasing excellent products we produce. Thank you, gentlemen! Great conversation. It was a 43 min talk that seemed like 15 tops.
Stout is such an enterprising, smart man.
This most def wasn’t long enough. Loved every bit of this
Thanks for this guys. I'm a upcoming artist out of VA. (I actually went to the same highschool as Pharell!) I'm also a envoking entrepreneur/ business owner clothing line, and this is amazing. It's good to know that this is being discussed and we are branching out of our comfort zones and developing a voice for our black men and women. You guys are also a great motivation to keep me going through adversity and building from the ground up. We definitely need to procure healthy relationships with each other and the people in the right places so we can claim those things we deserve.
"Then I realized while I was riding for the last 50 miles that every time I looked at the person that was coming up behind me they would catch me. But when I looked at the person in front of me and stared at them I only caught them." - Steve Stoute, Founder/CEO at Translation + UnitedMasters

This brother is very intellectual. His voice and work speaks for him not his money. Prisons and hip hop go hand in hand. When Pharrell speaks I will always listen, whether it's through his music or whatever.
