I completely agree, although they did give SOME credit, their energy & applause was muuuch less than if it had been one of the usual suspects.
I love Mark, and even though Danny means well he gets on my nerves... but they were pretty disappointing here in their (anti) favoritism.

I found out the hard way who Johnathan Pinegar was, I was playing in Jobs poolhall in nasheville TN. We knocked some balls around, he asked if I liked to gamble. I was like shit yeah! We started out playing 5 dollar games then it went to 10 to 20.00. I couldn't beat the man! I ended up losing like 400 bucks I think. And I was so happy to hand him his money! I had no idea what I got myself into! I loved every second of it! Best money I ever lost!

I know John and he never really wanted to go pro, he loved traveling and gambling and was one of the best money game players I've ever seen...He also exhibited a pretty bad temper back in the day and liked to play at his own speed..So I think the Pro format and the big games being televised was too much glamour for him..John kind of avoided being in the spotlight, because he loved to gamble a lot , by not going Pro meant he had a better change of flying under the radar and getting money games...
All that being said John is on the property level no doubt and is very dangerous on the table and could beat anyone on any given day...This video proves that

I used to play with John and watch him in money games here in Tennessee in the early 2000's...He can be a monster and a complete nightmare on the table, but he never went full pro..People who know John knows he's kind of like Earl Strickland he can be his own worst enemy when he gets in his own head. Unfortunately when he fell behind and was losing in a match, he would exhibit a bit of a bad temper which was more prevalent in money games..I haven't played with him in person in years but it seems since he's gotten older he's become more calm and focused...This is when he's playing his best and when John is in stroke and is winning he's capable of beating anyone in the world making him one of the most dangerously underated players in the game...

He’s a really nice guy, has been my favorite player for 20 years. Every time I watch him on YT the commentators act like they don’t know who he is.. they should start checking out the talent that’s around and they will learn about these guys that have been putting in work for decades behind the scenes .. one thing I can promise you JH will play anybody, he ain’t got a scared bone in his body.

Absolutely loved the commentary. A lot of people say off things about Danny but I love some of the silly backwards things he says.
If you watch some of the other pool productions where they have very technical analysis it’s a drag. My mom who knows very little of pool sat there giggling while Billy and Danny went back and forth in an old match that I was watching the other day. That’s what makes the sport fun.
It’s a bar game in nature and that’s what you do at the bar… talk nonsense about how the other guy is telling a beautiful sob story to a joe on the side, make a joke about his backer or how he’s not going to be able to pay rent.
One of my favorite matches of all time was Mosconi and Fats because the production and the talk of Fats made the game a WWE match. Anybody can watch that and when anybody can watch it anybody can play it or attempt to at their local bar lol.

Holy crap, not much more to say...besides the two flukes and a couple of advantageous rolls Pinegar played some VERY fine pool there. I wonder what the Fargo would have been at the beginning of that match, maybe 90-10 for Shaw. Makes me want to see Pinegar again...had to be the tournament match of his life. Gotta say, it's great when things happen that way. Archer for example can be down 8-0 in a race to 9 but he still will put 100% effort into every shot. If Shaw really wanted to win he would have made sure not to scratch on first break, not blown every single safety chance and put in more effort. I can’t stand him and I love to watch him lose.

I'd like to know what was constanly being said to Pinegar during this match by the judges. If it's what I think it is, it's a pretty classless move to harass a journeyman player just because he isn't a big name brand. The entire purpose of rack your own is so players would stop complaining about some one throwing them the rack, it's not to replace it with the other player complaining about your rack for yourself. If this was Shaw vs Strickland, Strickland would be blowing up at the judges over the constant attention, and he would be correct to do so.
