Everyone is calling him the next great real Verdi baritone. I suppose he could. But if his voice has size, something you can only determine if you hear him live, then he really should concentrate on the Wagner roles. This is possibly one of the great Wotan's of all time.
Wotan goes much, much lower than this aria regularly. He really is a baritone manufacturing a very deep sound, and I doubt his bottom voice carries anywhere near as well as his top. Trying to sing as low (with power) as Wotan does for 3-4 hours could very well kill his voice.

Remind me Renato Bruson, last great Verdian baritone. Dark voice but great high notes.
