  • Laurent Ferrier is a third-generation watchmaker, who graduated from École d’Horlogerie de Genève in 1968 and worked 37 years in Patek Philippe. Hailed by many as the master of sector dial watches, Laurent Ferrier was 63 when he started his eponymous watch brand in 2010. At Watches and Wonders 2023, he introduces three new novelties to Revolution Founder Wei Koh: the Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon - Pursuit, which arrives with a salmon dial and white gold hands. Its 44mm titanium case houses the caliber LF619.01 and this whole watch weighs just 118g. He has also just debuted the square 41mm Laurent Ferrier Micro-Rotor 'Evergreen' in steel, and the 40mm Micro-Rotor 'Evergreen' in 18K red gold and classic round case. Both Micro-Rotor watches are driven by the calibre FBN229.01.

    Not to be dismissive or unappreciative of the Ferrier brand, but how does it rank in terms of exclusiveness, innovation, craftsmanship to the likes of Andreas Strehler, Armin Strom, Charles Girardier, Czapek, Debethune, Gronefeld, Greubel Forsey, H Moser, FP Journe, , Parmigiani Fleurier, Philippe Dufour, Romain Gautier, Richard Mille, Speake Marin, Voutilainen ?
    Micro High horology brands seem to have sprung up quickly, and each has something "unique" about them.
    Could Wei Koh ( or anyone else) elaborate on how Laurent Ferrier is incomparable, when compared among the list of micro high horology brands mentioned?

      It's similar to Gronefeld/DB IMO, Dufour/Voutilanen are impossible to get, RG/GF are positioned more upmarket, PF/FPJ/Moser/etc. have much higher volume. LFs are the most restrained and stealthy dress watches out there.

    I am not surprised that Wei speaks French, I am rather surprised that Mr. Ferrier doesn’t speak English.

    Wei Koh speaks French??? Omg

      I learnt French in 2020, JUST because I found when Wei Koh spoke French interviewing FP Journe, it's very pleasantly pretentious, and I wanted to be able to do that. Also French is quite easy compared to German because grammar wise French is almost word to word correpondent to English.

      Haha as a German I can tell French is super complicated and hard to learn 😅

    • @ProCelestialEmpire
      @ProCelestialEmpire Před rokem +2

      @@kml1399 I am Chinese, and with proficiency in English, I tried to learn German, Dutch (I did my Master in the Netherlands) and French before, and what I can tell you is that French is way easier than German or Dutch, as compared to German or Dutch, French is far more similar to English in terms of Grammar. When I was learning German or Dutch, I was usually baffled thinking "what are those people thinking when constructing a sentence" lol The only thing in French that triggered such baffleness is their S+V+O+OC structure, which is counter intuitive compared to English.
