Hello sir, i don't know much about electronics, as I'm majoring in SE. But we have to do a project very similar to yours in our university. I don't seem to understand very well how does the L293D works and my question is: Can I, somehow, use the original pins from the Arduino without interfering with the motor shield? For example, in pin 5 I want to do certain blinking pattern with an led, but I cannot put a jumper inside because of the motorshield. Is there a way to continue working with the Arduino board?

You have to solder on the same pin of pin 5 on the motor shield
