Problem with Georgia is basically the same as with Crypus. Also it’s funny how my dear Estonia was able to get into NATO while De Jure we still have land under Russian occupation. (Russia stole most of Setomaa and the eastern side of Narva in ww2, which under our still valid Tartu Treaty, is ours.)
Estonia doesn't claim those territories because if it seriously did it wouldn't be able to join both NATO or EU, same goes for other Baltic States
Modern Estonian border is one defined by Soviet Union
🗿
Estonia does not have any overlapping claims with Russia.
@@kostam.1113 We do De jure. There have even been successful efforts to stop attempted treaties to revolve this issue. It’s that since this in our small Estonian press, no one outside hears a out this.

@@spiko-ou3bp Under the Tartu Treaty which is in our constitution, Russia occupies Jaanilinn and most of Setomaa. Efforts to resolve the issue have failed as Russia doesn’t recognize the Tartu Treaty and on our side, there are moral issues that discourage allowing legal Russian control. This isn’t covered much outside of the Estonian part of the world. You can search it up yourself.

I wonder if The Bahamas 🇧🇸 is going to join? The Bahamas 🇧🇸 is already a close ally to their giant neighbor the United States 🇺🇸 & the West. The went through to sanction Russia 🇷🇺 at the start of the Ukrainian War so it would make a lot of sense & they don't really add onto any security concerns to the alliance & they would be under protection. Also Mexico 🇲🇽 could join, they have some security concerns but it can be sorted out. Mexico 🇲🇽 has a large population & it's economy is growing pretty fast. The U.S 🇺🇸 & Mexico 🇲🇽 already trade a lot & became each others largest trading partners but there's a slight issue with Mexico 🇲🇽 joining NATO. It depends on who's the president of the U.S 🇺🇸. Because different government officials have different opinions & views about Mexico 🇲🇽. & the U.S 🇺🇸 has a strong influence of NATO.
Malta never joined because it declared permanent neutrality in 1981 and the neutrality was recognised and guaranteed by the big Mediterranean powers of the time (Italy, France, Algeria, Libya were the ones involved I believe) and eventually it was also guaranteed by the UK and the rest of NATO. It never was and never will be a case of "never got around to joining".
Historically Malta not being unaligned meant it was always fought over and was transferred from one ruler to the other due to its extremely strategic position in the Mediterranean making it a stepping stone for anyone crossing the Mediterranean. Its neutrality policy is pretty much the same as Austria's.
I’m kinda surprised that Austria has not yet joined NATO
Nor will.
@@joeyjojojrshabadoo7462coz of the Cold War
Austria has a treaty which prevents to make the country join any military alliance. So Austria is neutral to NATO
It was part of an agreement. During the cold war, austria was (much like Germany) divided by all the allies. Also much like Germany, neither side was willing to let their bit unify with the other because their was a chance austria would pick a side that wasn't theirs. After a while some austrian (who wasnt a painter this time) held a meeting with both sides, offering to be completely neutral if the country was unified. The soviets and the west agreed and austria was reunited, still keeping their part of the deal (of being neutral) to this day.

Reliant on NATO member the UK to defend your air space. But yea your "neutral" lol
@@lightfootpathfinder8218The island of Ireland is protected by the UK regardless of whether the UK is in NATO.
@@noodlyappendage6729 really ?? The remit of the UK armed forces is to protect the United Kingdom and it's interests. The job of protecting the Republic of Ireland is for the Irish defence forces. Ireland wants to be neutral but wants other countries(mainly the UK) to enforce and secure its own neutrality.
@@lightfootpathfinder8218 It benefits the UK to keep the RoI weak. And weak in every sense of the word. Both in soft power and hard power. We don’t want a strong neighbour on our only border. Especially one that broke away and unofficially wants a chunk of our territory (Northern Ireland).
In reality the UK controls what comes in and what goes out of the RoI because the RoI doesn’t have the ability to do so itself. The weaker and the more redundant the RoI is the stronger the case for the 26 counties to re-join the UK. The 26 counties are rightfully ours 😉

Honestly since Turkey is a secularist nation they really shouldn’t care about a Kuran burning, but unfortunately the President of Turkey is a snowflake and is Pro-Ottoman, meaning he is heavily islamic and takes insults to islam way too seriously, especially for a secular nation like Turkey.
If Atatürk saw what was going on in Turkey now, he would want to bleach his eyes out from disgust.

Southern Cyprus cannot join NATO because Turkey would veto it's entry. If Southern Cyprus wants to join NATO, the Cyprus Question needs to be resolved, which requires one of two things to happen: Cyprus peacefully reunifies (unlikely) or Southern Cyprus officially recognises the independence of Northern Cyprus (even more unlikely, as the unrecognised microstate is treated as a Turkish puppet regime).😅
Third thing: liberation of Cyprus.
@@MihalisNavara Any military escalation would be met by Turkish support, and NATO would not take a side to keep relations with Turkey from derailing further.
malta is in a similar position to ireland, both have constitiutional neutrality hence it would be against constitutional law to join. It also would be a serious security concern if malta got attaked given its proximity to italy and that it is an EU state.
What about Monaco or Liechtenstein?
Now Finland is in nato
Cyprus can join because Turkish claims have already been ruled illegal and Cyprus joined the EU as the WHOLE island. So they can(and should)join
NATO doesn’t allow countries that have either a territorial dispute or are actively engaged in war to join the alliance but they as shown by Ukraine can become candidates for in the future

Ireland is not a member of NATO, defacto or otherwise. There is no demand in Ireland for joining NATO, so rethink your insulting defacto!
De facto, it means it is sort of in Nato because of North Ireland, and you know, North Ireland isn't supposed to be in UK, as it was always Irish.
I’m not sure why Ireland would want to join NATO. Ireland is a participating EU non-NATO member of Nordic Battlegroup/ EU Battlegroup.

But seeing a lot of blue on the map made me thought it's a whole country or that's almost dominating the world. And the "North" in the name is starting to not exist since it's starting to reach the east.
Never nato must expand
Honestly Turkey should not have the power to veto things when most countries are all ready in agreement. Should they even be part of Nato? I understand why we have to ally with them for strategic reasons but I think we shouldn’t have to tip toe around talking about the Armenian genocide or what’s happening to the kurds
1. If Greece can VETO N-Macedonia from joining the EU simply because they didn’t like their country’s name, than Turkey can VETO Sweden because they fund terrorists organizations in Syria. Which in my opinion is a far bigger concern than some name of a country.
2. Armenian genocide has nothing to do with NATO. Every government can shape it’s own opinion.
3. To correct you: Turkey does not have problems with the Kurds. It has problems with the PKK and YPG and all of their branches (pyd, sdf, tak, pjak,…).
If that were true, Turkey wouldn’t have recognized Iraqi Kurdistan or wouldn’t have fought alongside side the Kurdish Peshmerga during the Iraqi Kurdish civil war or wouldn’t have invited the Kurdish President into Turkey while hanging the Kurdish flag at airport or wouldn’t have allowed the Kurdish Peshmerga to cross into Syria from Turkey through Iraq to fights against ISIS. It’s much more complicated than you might assume.
Turkey joined as soon as NATO was formed
As a full member state with extremely important location it has every right to do as it pleases
Turkiye has a significant role in NATO because she has straits that can block Russian water trades, also she shares borders with Arabian Peninsula, Iran and Caucasia, the places where US loves. And Turkiye has the second strongest army in NATO. I am sure she deserves the veto power.
