All Google Nexus Phones: Stuck in Boot Loop, Keeps Restarting, Wont Turn On? Try This First!

  • If your Google Nexus phone or tablet is experiencing a boot loop where it constantly restarts then you may want to try this first. This should work about 40% of you out there.
Many times the issue arises from a power button problem that may be loose, stuck, jammed, or broken.
If the problem started after the nougat update then this method will not work as it is a software problem not hardware.

most users have tried re-flashing factory images or wiping their data to no avail. Once you contact Google, the company will send you a refurbished unit. Though Google says the bootloop is strictly a hardware issue, it is curious that both Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X devices are suddenly affected by it after the most recent Nougat update.

I tried this, but it didn't work for my issue. I just had the boot loop happen to me today and after spending the entire afternoon on the phone with both Google (who wouldn't do anything since I didn't buy through them) and Huawei would not help because I am 2 days out of warranty. So basically I have a $600 brick sitting here and two companies telling me that I just need to go buy a new phone. Not sure that I've ever seen such poor customer service, especially over something we all know, they know is an issue.

I fixed it. I first had too boot to the boot loader (hold power button+press volume key down) once I was at boot loader you have to let the phone sit for about 10 mins then click recover mode. (this is the only way you can boot into recovery mode with out the phone going into bootloop. once I got into recovery mode I then clicked factory reset wipe data. once it wipe the data. the next step is I had to take the phone apart. disconnect the batter cable and do a "power flush" by removing the battery cable, I then was holding down the power button for 30seconds to 2 mins and then I reconnect the batter cable and turned it on, this process took about 10 times to repeat. every time I repeated the process I got closer and closer to the home screen. by the 10th time or so I was able to make it to set up screen. YES I did loose data and some photos . however it worked. Good thing I had CM backup to back up 90% of my phone contacts!!!! I hope this helps anybody. oh a perfect video to disassembled the phone search CZcams "jerry rig nexus 5x"
aka I figured this method might fix the phone because I had a old Sony VAIO laptop that would not start up, the fix for that was removing the laptop battery and then holding down the power button to remove and power/juice or left over static power, turns out that fixed the laptop, so I applied the same method with my nexus 5x. probably the last lg phone I'll ever buy.

ILuvTrading okay so this is the verdict. this method temporary works. This issue has to be fix by Google asap! looks like my 5x worked for about a good 30mins. then it reset for about a good 2 mins however what's weird it was bootloop for a good 2 mins and then all of a sudden it went back to normal. so at this point its very tricky :(

My Nexus 6p has the same issue, I went to a Huawei Service centre in India and they said as my phone just crossed the warranty period. I need to pay 25000 INR ($ 374) which is ridiculous to get it fixed. I have called Huawei support and they said they cant help. I will never buy anything from #Huawei.

  • @ryanpope9262

Can confirm banging the power button on my wrist solved the issue. The problem at first was the loop boot and it not even allowing me to restore the phone using the method of holding the power button + the volume down button. I then realised if I held the power button it would show the charge logo with the lightning bolt but nothing else. After banging it on my wrist (with some force) it allowed the device to show the charge logo again but this time logo had the bars going up and down (showing the device was charging). I allowed the device to reach half charge and pressed the power button and it worked. (Pixel 1 - 128gb)

Same problem happened to me. With Huawei asking for USD 400 to repair it I will try this method. One thing is clear both Huawei and Google don't deserve to compete in the flagship top of the line phone market.
Request all who have faced this problem to use #AndoidBricksNexus hashtag to tweet about this. Your strong feedback on this will help them not get away with it :)
