A new Pinocchio movie trailer has dropped, and what makes it special is the fantastically cringe voice acting from Pauly Shore. This movie is totally bound to not be a rolling tire fire. Here's my reacting commentary thingy.

To be fair, they dubbed over a Russian voice acted and animated film. Which is why lip-syncing probably looks horrible and doesn't match any animation.
They definitely should've tweaked the animation to fit the english version better but considering they never decided to fix any of the bad acting.. that would've been far too much work for them.

My theory is that Pauly Shore wasn’t instructed to voice his lines like this. He probably knew that the production company would be unlikely to find another English-speaking celebrity willing to be in the film so he started messing around to see what he could get away with, and they were either too scared to call his bluff or just didn’t give a crap.

1. They aren’t going to engage in Pinocchio’s main flaw. His nose. Whenever Pinocchio lies. His nose grows bigger. But you never see that in the trailer.
2. It’s just going to be another boring love story gimmick

Pinocchio doesn't even look like he's made of wood in this movie. He already looks like a real boy unless you look really closely at his nose. The only way you could gleam that he's made of wood is from the sound effects

I find it funny that two pinocchio movies are coming out this year, The really bad liongates one and the stop motion one that looks AMAZING-
The Lionsgate one is actually from Russia. Russian studios are pretty questionable, but Lionsgate is much shadier than most of them combined.
The worst part is that it names itself as "a true story" when it looks like one of the loosest adaptations of the book ever. Like, except for the basic premise of a living puppet and the malicious fox and the cat, there isn't absolutely anything similar.
And why do they have to throw in the “random love interest trope” out there in the middle of nowhere? Like, a cute friendship story is nice too???

This really does feel like a film that would have come out 20 years ago. In fact, the animation, character design, and writing is almost 1:1 with that Happily N'Ever After movie that released in 2006.

Jokes aside, I really do recommend checking out the first Pinocchio you have shown the poster of! It’s an Italian take on the original story of Pinocchio that came out in 2019, and it was genuinely well made (I was positively surprised considering Italy produced bad comedy movies 90% of the time)

Pinocchio was about to become a real boy, but then he got turned into a donkey as a punishment for lying too much, made friends with another donkey, was put to work at a circus, reunited with his donkey friend who had been put to work at a mill and was dying due to being overworked, helped his dying friend with the mill, but then he died anyways, but, as a reward for being good, Pinocchio was no longer a donkey, and then he lied too much again, got eaten by a whale, and died. The end.

After I saw this trailer on the Lionsgate channel a few days ago, I joined a comment thread in the comments section regarding the Ninja Turtles reference, replying with how bad animated movies use pop culture references, which are not jokes, to get a cheap chuckle out of people who do get the reference. I found out this morning that the comments section for the trailer on the Lionsgate channel has been disabled. I wonder why...
