Just got a scam cold call from "Microsoft", first thing the guy asked me was do I have a computer you'd think "Microsoft" would know wouldn't you!... Thanks Jim for your efforts :-)
My favorite part about his videos is that he maintains his demeanor at all times. He never get shaken up. He just calmly handles the business and informs them what has happened after they can't do anything. Once in, I would be too excited to contain myself and blow the operation

@@raphaelroberge1786 I've seen scammers get genuinely shocked when someone uses a virtual machine restoring to its prior state after they "ruined" it say "I think he's a hacker" when dealing with less eloquent scam baiters, they probably think the tree command gets them close to the Matrix.

After hearing the guy crying, saying he's at the end of his rope, and the scammers having a good laugh, it makes me sick. I wonder how many people have taken their life after losing everything they have? Please keep up the good work.

The reason why they can't show his face is probably because all cameras automatically blur his face involuntarily like for the protagonists in Watch_Dogs
What you fail to realize is that IS Jim's face...if you were to meet him in person his face would be blurred

Jim is a hero. He is exposing the living hell these criminals put their victims through, and the world is better because he's in it. I'm not at all tech savvy, but I do have three children under two years old, and I have a lovely recording of all 3 kids screaming that I like to play for every scam caller I receive. I have yet to have a caller stay on the line for the whole five minute recording.
I'm a cashier at a major retailer & just the other day I was able to help prevent an older lady from being scammed by buying a GreenDot card for a "contest" - thanks to Jim's videos explaining how they operate, I was able to recognize what was going on & able to stop the transaction & save the lady from being scammed. Thank you Jim; you're doing a good thing.

Super cool that these publications are giving you the attention you deserve, especially something like the AARP which has a lot of elderly members. I used to work tech support at a retail office chain (super cool, I know) and couldn't begin to count how many elderly people came in saying they gave money to an overseas tech support scam. It was always heartbreaking to tell them that they may never get the money back, which was usually over $1000...

I try to keep scammers on the phone for as long as possible. My record is about 1hr 10 mins over three calls. 42 mins on a single phone call. Play along. You might save someone who is vulnerable.
This man is an actual saint and a super hero. This is as good as it gets in real life.
What I love about Jim is how far he goes. He's not just deleting files and pissing the scammers off. He tracks, investigates, infiltrates and christ almighty calls the victims while they are being scammed! He's on another level. This is not to say the likes of scammers revolt are of no use, anything to screw these guys helps, but Jim is quite incredible.

@@vendybirdsvadl7472 the problem is one scam center gets shut down and another pops up in it's place. Nearly all these scammers operate out of india at this point the only way to shut them down is to isolate india from the rest of the world block cutting of india from the rest of the worlds internet for example. The government there and the police only shut these scammers down when heavy presure is applied by people like jim other wise the issue is mostly ignored.
Aside from jim i have seen videos from no less than 30 youtube channels of scam busters some hit them with computer viruses and bring their networks crashing down some report their websites etc yet 1 goes down and others pop up in that ones place.
@@nanaki-seto I don't think that's the right thing to do. A lot of the problem comes down to corruption within the government. India is rapidly developing and as that happens hopefully the opportunity for corruption is less. I'm sure most Indian people would agree with you that this behavior is disgusting and should be shut down.

Seriously. I don't understand why the US, UK, CAN and AUS don't get together and create a task force of people like Jim who would do what Jim does but on a larger scale and full-time. Imagine how many scam call centers they could track and take down in a month with just 20 people like Jim working on this full time. Not enough is being done about this problem. I don't understand why we're relying on corrupt Indian police to do something about this when it's clear that they aren't doing jack shit. It's time to put an end to this.
Also, scammers who scam American citizens for example should be extradited to the US and face punishment there. Imagine how terrified scammers would be of the prospect of that happening to them. They wouldn't be able to bribe themselves out of that like they do in India.

Most damages are covered by insurance so the effects are not as harshly felt in the countries you name

to think....this is all being done by one guy in a bedroom in his spare time for our entertainment and education....while literally BILLIONS of dollars are being spent attempting to do anything even close to this.
I don't think it is for entertainment. More of altruism.
Governments have alot more red tape they need to get through than he does, then if they are pressing charges there is a whole other level if evidence required and to be verified. I understand why overseas governments struggle. What cannot be forgiven is the sheer apathy of the governments where these scammers reside if not blatant corruption.

The abuse teams at most of the major players are well aware of what is going on and do as little as they can to stop it. They will make excuses like they can't access accounts due to "data protection", or some other lame excuse they can think of to sit by and let things happen. Even Banks will put the phone down on you if you reported a crime in progress.

Never stop, Jim. I work at a computer shop and the amount of people that are getting scammed is sickening. I probably average 3 clients a day where I see the classic txt file with "John Henry's" firewall software. I've seen people who've gotten tens of thousands stolen, their scammers have their cell number and just bombard them all day with harassment and threats. You give me a glimmer of hope that we can put a stop to these pricks. Thanks, jimbo

A big thing about a security breach is transparency and your run down on how you got scammed should be a lesson to CISOS EVERYWHERE!

I love the work you're doing and that you can also do it with a wink and a smile. When you are calling out scammers by name while watching them on camera... I *almost* felt that Pirya (Carolina) might have felt some shame for a moment.

And that is all for show, call center scamming is an industry in India (as it is in other countries) and you can be assured that there is corruption behind it.
The line between the 2 is very thin in the northern parts of India.
Well for better or the worse, until and unless a district court orders the police to cuff someone, the police cannot handcuff somebody by force. Quite the dark history is actually surrounded around handcuffs in India
