- I want to tell all of you about the real Green Man urban Legend, and his name was Raymond Robinson. You can read more about him from the links below:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond...)
www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg....
www.huffingtonpost.com/roadtri...
All three of these articles are done tastefully and factually. Raymond Robinson was a local legend in Western PA near where I grew up. We always told stories that "The Green Man" will get you, among other scary tales when I was a kid, like Crybaby Bridge.
Raymond was a real person and is slowly turning into a true legend. Raymond "Ray" Robinson (October 29, 1910 - June 11, 1985) was a severely disfigured man whose years of nighttime walks made him into a figure of urban legend in western Pennsylvania. Robinson was so badly injured in a childhood electrical accident that he could not go out in public without fear of creating a panic, so he went for long walks at night. Local tourists, who would drive along his road in hopes of meeting him, called him The Green Man or Charlie No-Face. They passed on tales about him to their children and grandchildren, and people raised on these tales are sometimes surprised to discover that he was a real person who was liked by his family and neighbors.

I feel so bad for the poor guy having to spend his whole life like that
For anyone who was wondering :
The legend of the Green Man aka Charlie no-face was a legend that was bases on a real person named Raymond Robinson. Raymond Robinson was born on October 29th 1910 in Beaver County PA. When he was around 8 or 9 years old in 1919, him and his friends were playing on some sort of railroad bridge with a bunch of old high voltage cables over it. They saw a birds nest in a tree beside the bridge and wanted to see what was inside it. Raymond decided to climb up to see but somehow came into contact with the high voltage lines and was shocked by 22,000 volts of electricity. He lost his eyes, nose, lips, one arm and part of an ear from the burns. A local newspaper made articles about him and said that doctors said that he would surely die but, miraculously, he survived. For the rest of his life he lived with his family and stayed indoors all day because he was worried that people would either be scared of him or humiliate him, which they did. Apparently, once when he went out in the day someone called the police on him thinking he was an actual devil or monster. He didn't want to be inside all the time so, at night, when he was less likely to be seen, he would walk along a desolate part of route 351 with a cane since he could not see. Some times people would spot him in their cars and take off in terror thinking he was a monster and started the rumor of Charlie no-face aka Green Man because his skin was a strange color after the accident. Some other people were nice and would talk to him and he would let you take a picture of him in exchange for beer or cigarettes. Other would be extremely mean and beat him up. This happened multiple times. He also got hit by cars several times. He would also walk along inside a railroad tunnel which is now known as "Green Man's tunnel". He died in 1985 at the age of 74.
The reason why he appeared green was from infections, since his nose was just an open wound.
I use to listen to a radio show with my grandma to fall asleep. The show talked about legends, ghost stories, U.F.O.'s etc. I really like that idea for an ASMR series.
+Cort Wolf I'm glad. I grew up on old radio shows myself, so I'm really looking forward to trying something different that brings that time period back. Thank you.
Cort De Coyote Please tell me you're thinking of Coast to Coast AM
Ive read up the article on wikipedia. Sad story. But at least good to hear he made some friends and was treated with some kindness. Again, sad story.
+Isaiah Monteiro yes, this is someone I think about a lot.
You used to make these types of videos when you started the channel. I really like this conversational podcast style. :D Pleasee more 'chilling with tiraradeguello' :D
+Bluewhisper Thank you, I think you'll like what we do with it. We're going to make it an ongoing series for sure.
TirarADeguello awesome!
I for one think you should carry on with these kinds of videos. Such an interesting idea.
+VoiceOfSam thank you, hope to stop by your channel today and see what you're up to.
yes i will
+TirarADeguello hey neighbor I'm from canton lol
hello my new Ohio friend, good to meet you.
Why am i watching this at 12:47 AM
My grandparents told me of old time radio programs and my parents listened to Jean Shephard in the 1970s on NYC radio at night ... so yeah this kinda remind reminded of that and the warm sound the old radio. I like this !
this is a good reference of don't judge a book by its cover
Wow...AMAZING story. I've lived in the Pgh area, and North between Pgh and Butler, off and on for the last decade and I never heard this. I'll definitely ck out the link. I love love love the urban legend series...your channel is the best of CZcams and I'll be sharing now that I know it helps.
thank you and I will make more eventually. I promise.
I feel like Ray wouldve been the kind of guy youd WANT to be friends with simply because he was just chill.
And just recently, he got mentioned on Matthew Santoros video for 10 Scary stories that turned out to be real.
I wrote about this case on my blog. Very sad! You could maybe do one on "The Babysitter" - another urban legend with truth behind it. Great video!
+WallsOfRedWing I think that's a good suggestion, I'll think about it. Thank you.
Crystal clear audio, some of the best I've heard in a while. Looking forward to the DJ character!!
Interesting, I really would have loved to meet Raymond Robinson. If I had lived in that area around that timeline then I would have taken walks down there every night just to look out for him and make sure he wasn't taken advantage of by anyone. Thanks for the great video!
+Sir Crocodile there were people who looked out for him and if anything, people might get him too drunk , but rarely preyed on him. It's always important to look for marginal people in your walk through life and share a kind word or a little of your time to make their life better. Thank you.
It's so sad how people can fear someone, because they don't bother to understand who they are or what cards life has handed they. Very well told. Two thumbs up. 😇
+Chris Taggart I think as scary as he appeared, he was way more frightened by strangers not knowing how they would react to him. Thank you.
I've read up on the green man before, such a sad tragic back story.
+zombiemonkey509 he lived a tough life, but his family swears he never complained, not once.
Such a brave man, seems so kind and thankful, if I was in his condition I probably couldn't carry on
I do believe the Good Lord only gives us what we can handle in life. May not feel that way, but I count myself very very lucky.
Yeah, I totally get what you mean (: there good words to go by
Poor dude. Must of sucked staying in your house all day just so you don't scare anyone
What the hell are you talking about?
+Captain Sum Ting Wong why did you reply to your own comment Mr Wong
Ok cool
Wee tuloo huli phuk
It's interesting to see how legends can transform in time. I saw slender man start out as some fabricated photos on a SomethingAwful "creepy pictures" thread back around 2008 or so, and somehow that morphed into an Internet urban legend.
+ElectricChaplain agreed, thank you
Please make more of these videos. This, in my opinion, is like a wonderful combination of the X-Files, the Twilight Zone, Bob Ross and latenight radio. Love it!
I really like hearing about urban legends and never thought I would see it on an asmr video! it's very creative, thank you! good job (:
I'd like to hear more of these speaking/narrative phenomena vids. when i have a headache and my head cant stop racing, its good to hear the deep voice guide my attention, soothing my thoughts. ur the best, thank u
+Bobby Lee I'm glad I was able to help you and I talk quite a bit in my next video, stay tuned for more.
Hey there Michael. The quality of sound from your new set up is fantastic, literally no complaints what so ever. I'm really into these urban legend type videos, they keep me interested which keeps me awake, allowing me to feel all the tingles possible. Thanks for making these and I'm excited to see what you do in the future!
+David Schrader thank you, I hope we can keep it that way for a long time. Stay tuned
What a brilliant video, I love learning about stuff like this (I'm a bit morbid and creepy like that I guess). This is so well researched and tastefully done as well, you really are multitalented :)
I really appreciate the feedback it helps and I should have a new video out tomorrow on another urban legend subject
Hey Mike, this different kind of video was cool. Interesting story too. I like the DJ idea. Mic setup sounded good. Overall, top notch stuff, keep it up.
+Junpei Iori thank you, I am working on refining the look
Mike, I just wanted to let you know that I have begun sharing your videos on both my personal Facebook page and in a Facebook group that I help run that deals with spiritual education and healing, so hopefully that will help get the word out a little more about your excellent channel.
That is really kind of you, thank you so much
You're most welcome.
I first heard about this from my school bus driver, and when I looked him up, I was rather shocked. I live around Youngstown as well so it's kinda weird to think about.
everything in this video is a true story, I'm from Youngstown, Ohio as well. Thanks.
I loved this. I've just gone through all of your urban legends stories and loved them. Thank you for speaking out on his behalf. Also, thank you for all you do. Great job.
I love these types of asmr videos. Soft spoken story time videos are the best!
+Hannah Thorpe thank you, we're refining the character and concept so it won't dead end or be boring.
Man this guy sounds chill af, love how he was charging people for pictures. Sounds like a real cool guy. I genuinely wouldve loved to hang out with this guy
a "green " man that doesn't have a face
e rift has a faceless green man character on his channel wonder if there's a connection
living in denmark i have never heard that story not the real one or the legend i wish i had Raymond Robinson sounds like a cool man
+chiarakiara I don't think ER's character is based on the Green Man legend, I'm positive his Green man is based off a different avenue of thought. Thanks.
Loved the sound and format, thank you !
+Corpsefury thank you
Hey man what a small world. I grew up near Koppel and often visited there, so of course I grew up on the story of Charlie (and all it's variations). I still live in the area and cat fish at Guilford lake in Salem, so maybe I'll see ya around. Thanks for the flashbacks before bed.
+Hunter N how about that. Yes, I'm out and about in Salem keeping the town safe from the Paranormal so maybe say hi sometime, thanks.
Did you get chills reading and telling this story to us?🤔
I truly enjoyed this. I was super engaged and the story is really amazing. I have never heard of Ray but it's really cool what you are doing!!!!👍👍👍
+Desiree Sears thank you, he was an interesting person, and a kind soul.
+TirarADeguello it's amazing how people can make the kindest of people who are different out to be a monster. I have met a few people who are physically deformed in my line of work. I work in a hospital and usually they are the sweetest and gentlest of souls.
I agree
I really enjoyed this style of video. Keep up the awesome work, Mike!
Honestly if I had the ability, I’d hang out with Ray and be a good friend with him.
I liked this type of video. You should definitely consider doing more videos like this. Great job as always.
+Cian Davies we're refining how we want it to flow to make it a continuing series. Thank you, and I do appreciate the positive feedback.
That DJ character would be amazing
+Bruce Wayne We're working on it, and making sure it's not a dead end character idea. Thank you for the supportive comment.
Nice idea, if this doesn't work for asmr It would be cool to see this as a podcast type of deal.
+Alejandro Zapata I was thinking the same thing, just have fun with it, and if it doesn't work on all levels, tell a good story to keep people interested. Thanks.
Dang. I am from PA and I have never heard of this. Lancaster area so could be why. I wouldn't know
+Drog2099 read the articles in the links provided and you'll love this guy. Awesome local Western PA legend. Thanks.
Yeah I’m from the Poconos and never heard of it either
Your creativity is so refreshing, another thoroughly enjoyed video. keep up the good work!
+ROBBI WARD It means a lot when people stop by to pass a good word along, thanks.
This is amazing. I subbed like 5 words into it
I don't know if it's too late or too busy right now to request one of these videos but I really love DJ Mad Mike's stories. Even just stories in general are great, they don't have to be urban legends, I really love personal stories, and I really really love when you did both and inserted yourself into this story (although very appropriately, as opposed to just putting yourself there, you actually were there). Basically, if you have the time and desire, I would love to see a video like this one again. Much love, Tirar
Really excellent video & I'm digging the DJ character!! Best wishes on the future of your channel!! :D
I like this. I like these videos best. Not you roleplaying, but you telling stories, preferably real ones, stuff based on your life.
I really like your videos! I like your soft spoken voice ! :) 👍🏻
When an asmr video turns into 29 minutes of opening peanut brittle
Wow so tingly keep it up :)
+Gangsta ASMR thanks, more to come soon.
A dj character? Could be interesting and fun, given the period that the whole andrew Michaels thing takes place. Sounds like it'd be really fun.
+Alakai Souza I think so to, and it should allow me to be more interactive with everyone.
I live in this area! It's so cool to find someone who knows this story. I've grown up with this story. I live 45 miles from butler. Living in a tiny little town with lots of back dirt roads the story changed a lot since then. lightning was what I was told when I first heard it. Still Cool I know the really real truth.
+Reggie LovesLife I heard he worked on high tension lines as a utility worker, so finding out the truth was very interesting.
This mic is amazing. I honestly don't like binaural that much, I think its a bit overrated. This mic is really good. Honestly, I would love it if ASMRtists start doing mediocre mic specials. Somewhat bad microphones really trigger ASMR for me.
Your Gay Father me too
I like cryptid & urban legend stuff, these seem fun, hope to see more
What a sin for this man to hide from people.
I really enjoyed this story. Thank you so much for sharing.
+Dustin Riggs I appreciate your comment, thanks.
This is a great piece of history
Please bring this series back 🙏🏿 great stories
Could he still hear, speak, or smell?
I'm know he could speak and I think he could hear but his hearing wasn't very good. He could not smell at all because his nose was burned very badly during the accident and there was almost nothing left of it. If you're wondering what the accident was it was when he was around 8 or 9 years old back in the year 1919 and him and his friends were playing on some sort of railroad bridge with a bunch of old high voltage cables over it. They saw a birds nest in a tree beside the bridge and wanted to see what was inside it. Raymond Robinson decided to climb up to see but somehow came into contact with the high voltage lines and was shocked by 22,000 volts of electricity. He lost his eyes, nose, lips, one arm and part of an ear.
We used to drive through Salem on the way to my Grandmother's house in Toronto from Kent. I have not been up there in years though... Loved the story and keep up the good work!
+LargeWoodenBadger thank you for stopping by am leaving such a great, it is good to meet other people from Ohio.
1k? This should have so much more likes ?! First time watching and I love this #Subscribed
Hey, thanks for subbing, appreciate it #tirarnation
I loved the video and the audio too. One of my new favorites.
+Chargo thank you
This is an awesome story! I'm surprised I've never heard of this urban legend considering I live in Wooster, Ohio, which I'm sure you know is relatively close to Salem. Keep up the great work!
+Maggie Flechler Yes, I know Wooster well, and I don't think I pronounce it correctly, but it is a nice town.
This is really cool! I have always loved real life urban legend stuff.
same here
I love these videos! Please do more!
another great video!
Please do more videos like this! So much tingles
I live over in Delaware and the fact you talk about PA and the cool yet haunted happenings makes being on the east coast so much more cool. Love your videos and wouldnt mind running into you in person someday. #TriStateClub
Pls make more this kind of vdo!!!!!! love it!!!!
+ayumiizakiogata thank you, more on the way
Loved this. I have a book called Weird Pennsylvania, it's great! Talks about urban legends and weird things from the state. You should totally read entries from it in this format. Would be amazing!
+Fetty Wap thank you, that is a fantastic suggestion and I'll look into it.
I'll have to get that book
Excited for the future of this channel!
+TheOGGamer stay tuned, more to come
I’m from the Pittsburgh area and at first I was scared of this legend. After reading his story, however, I found it interesting and somewhat sad. Thanks for the story
I would listen to you talk all day. You have a nice voice and that was an interesting story as well. I'd buy you a drink.
+AnonAnon Anon New video tonight, mostly talking first aid video. I hope you like it.
I like this kind of video :)
+Tortoiseshel thank you, there will be more in a continuing series.
Awesome. I would love to see a long term series of paranormal lectures so to speak. Sort of like Coast to Coast am but soft spoken.
+Tortoiseshel I have a tortie too... :D
KittyCat ASMR Aww nice, although I actually don't have a tortie, I just like them 😅
Awesome video. The "moth man" isn't to far from you
+Todd Hammer My next video is Mothman and I mention it was suggested by a viewer, so watch for it tonight. Thank you for the suggestion.
I grew up near the area where he lived. He lived in Beaver County just outside of Elwood City. My father new Ray as my dad was a friend with his nephew. He was a very nice man.
very interesting, you should do more videos like this. liked the sound btw.
+ArcanineStripes great. I want to carry on with it.
everyone thought he was a true monster, but in reality he just had a disease that deformed his face. he was no different from us. poor guy, even so embarrassed he even sheltered himself from society
He didn't have a disease
opening peanut brittle with the utmost professionalism ;)
Omg this is wear I'm from! New castle pa! Born and raised!
+Dustin Micco cool, welcome to my channel.
+TirarADeguello I have been a fan and subscriber for awhile now! Thanks for welcoming me, ps my grandpa actually knew the green man!
I’m from Ohio too only about 10 minutes away from Salem!
Just wanted to say that the wikipedia link has a missing right bracket. Very minor thing
you know i love hearing stories of your life. there interesting
+Chronas 9.9 I do have a lot more weird stories to tell, don't worry about that, LOL.
This is great.
Woah watched all of this really entertaining
Loved this...... Would love if you did more similar to this :)
+☢GameWareNuke☢ we're working on refining the character so stay tuned for more.
your quickly becoming one of my favorite asmartists
I love these talks
I would like to thank you for taking time out of your life to talk about a man whom was in a horrific accident and talking about the real man and not the legend.
+paul harned He was or is, a most interesting person, thank you.
I like that you shine a light on the real person
I mean, Its natural people were scared of ray. Ray was horribly disfugured and its just uncanny to look it
I would defiantly like to see an urban legend series, or something talking about the strange and supernatural, I enjoy your characters and role plays but I do enjoy to hear from the artist behind it all :) you also have a lot of great interests I'd love to learn more about yourself in Q and A / about me videos
you're a cute daddy bear and your voice is so soothing
Ah! You said your channel name! I've been wondering how that was said.
Wow I’ve lived in the Pittsburgh area my whole life. Just south. But been to aliquippa a lot and butler quite a bit. This is a crazy story
Loved this story
I think these are great.
I love his videos
I like it, add maybe some sounds like tapping while talking I think that would have more asmr added to it
+Michael Youngs I agree with you on that.
I like this ASMR Art Bell angle great idea
Can you please upload your audio to CZcams music app im unable to find you there and I really enjoy your story telling
I have done 140 podcast episodes if you would like to check them out?
@@TirarADeguello where do you have them?
My Grandpa went and visited the Greenman a few times.
Fr? Cool
Dude don’t fuck with me, I live in Butler, PA
