    Great video! This is exactly like the UAD unison approach but built into the software. Wow. 🔥🔥🔥

    I've worked this way with Softube TAPE, and PluginAlliance's Phil's Cascade and NEOLD and others. COMMIT! Depending on the plugin, it's easy to shutdown the Air in your tracks, so like Marcus, I try to use a light touch. Saving real hardware for aggressive processing is a great tip!
    Another way to combat the latency is to use the plugin on every input recorded, that way they're all delayed the same amount. But I love the delay in the channel editor, fast!

      Awesome!!! Such a nice feature to have, and RME interfaces are top tier. I don’t think you’ll have any issues working this way.

    Marcus, i think you're in great company as a "top notch Studio One guy". You explain things at just the right pace, and I like the amount of detail.
    Thank you - It's very much appreciated

    Thanks Markus. I email joe gilder a month ago suggesting to do the same video. Just one thing to say about that. If instead of using voice u are running a guitar with amp sim (like amplitube) yo cannot change presets without engaging and disengaging z. Or monitor input. That’s a down
    If you use ampire you can with another sim u cannot

    Would have love to see you add Autotune on input monitoring to see the results. Nice Marcus!

    • @marcushuyskensmusic
      @marcushuyskensmusic  Před 3 lety +4

      Just tried this out - Autotune Pro has a latency of around 55ms on my system - but it also has a low latency mode in the settings which brings it down to 2.1ms for tracking.. I was able to record through it (on the input) - with the same settings I used in this video without any issues. From that point, I applied a "-2.1" ms track delay, and used the Bounce to New Track option, and everything was good.. (It rendered the track delay)
      That being said, I might be more inclined to put Autotune Pro on the monitoring path of the track I'm recording to as opposed to on the input itself.. But either one, can be done. :)
      Cheers, M 🍻

      @@MrSRellz Waves Tune Real-Time is a great alternative to Antares Auto-Tune.
      I used to use it for about 2-3 years before I got Auto-Tune Pro. And I agree - It would be perfect for zero latency (committing) on inputs.

    FINALLY!!! A video that gives me confirmation about how to record vocals going through processing on the way in!!!
    just a question: I’m using a golden age pre73 and I really like the waves cla 76 to color the sound. Is it ok to look at S1 input levels while setting my recording levels? Or should I stick to the channel levels in the mixer? (maybe it’s a dumb question but I’m a S1 newbie :-) )
    Thanks you for the video!!!!

  • @edelpino-music

    Studio One does not automatically compensate plugin latency? 🤔
    I can see that the audio recording is represented with a delay on the arrangement view, but during both playback and monitoring, everything sounds into place.
    When you enable the ''Ignore Plugin-latency'' option, that's when things start to go nuts.
    I've checked this, recording the same input simultaneously and flipping the phase in one of them. So if there's silence, that means no latency (Because of phase cancelation). Then toggled a plugin with high latency like the Izotope Ozone suite and didn't have any latency while the compensation was active.
    Does anyone had experimented with this? Maybe I'm getting it wrong! 😅

    Is there any (dis)advantage to recording clean and than adding same plugins to recorded signal vs input processing?

    • @supersonicsroots
      @supersonicsroots Před 3 lety

      No. Just that it gives a certain character or sound while you're tracking. But I've found that tracking with a plugin as an insert or send bus works just as well, especially with low latency green Z mode. I really don't see any kind of advantage of printing a compressor or EQ while tracking. You just making it hard on yourself. Just put it on the channel as an insert, hit the green Z button and off you go.

    • @dacidthorn
      @dacidthorn Před rokem +2

      plugins only record on the input channels so any plugins on the regular track channels will be heard but only dry input gets recorded.

    • @35milesoflead
      @35milesoflead Před 3 lety +1

      You could look at Jbridge. It is not something I have used so I am unsure how it plays with S1 V5.
      Jbridge is supposed to allow 64-bit hosts to run 32-bit plugins. I see it supports VST 2.4 but not sure it supports VST 3.
      There's a demo and a paid version.
