When you're sealing the sand on with the really watery PVA, add a single drop of washing up liquid into the pva/water. It'll break the surface tension and make it soak into the sand even easier. It'll also let you get away with a slightly higher PVA/water ratio which will help seal it down even harder.

Great fun. Those Gretchin might not have the detail of modern miniatures but they do have character.

I just built a battlewagon and I'm hoping you paint one in the future. I followed a lot of your blackstone fortress painting guides when I first started painting a year ago and no channel comes even close to you and pete the wargamer when it comes to paint tutorials. It's either you, pete or watching a really long tutorial from duncan to really set the mood for painting. I love your content and thank you again for the music.

The little ring thing on the Grot Blastas are sling rings or saddle rings, you'll actually see them on the metal Autoguns of the period as well. There should probably be a leather or canvas strap connecting to a different part of the gun, but the GW weapon designers of the day, much like the modern day, really didn't understand how guns work, just look at the Rogue Trader era Bolters.

For gun barrels i found using a round ended bit (looks like a fluted ball) dremel bit in a pin vise does a great job of cleaning up strands and giving a nice dish for paint and washes to sit in.

Even better was when a 20-grot squad would actually manage to drop a couple Space Marines a turn, because quantity is a quality all its own.

I recommend using acrylic medium with sand instead of PVA glue. I've had bad experiences with PVA, as it can cure, crack and come off the base!

you can score the base in a criss cross with a knife first and it helps the pva adhere better

  • @norwegianwiking

Adding a drop of dish soap to the 1 part pva+ 4 part water mix helps break the surface tension and make it flow even better into the sand
