this is the original rock star song. the song on Live through this is actually called Olympia. When kurt cobain died, live through this was coming out in a few days so they thought the lyrics about Nirvana in this song would be inappropriate so they took the song off the record and replaced it with Olympia. But the cover art and packaging was already done so they couldn't change the song name.

They pulled this song because the lyrics sounded in really bad taste after Kurt died- "A barrel of laughs to be Nirvana"- enough said. All the stuff about killing rock stars is her making fun of the Olympia, WA record label called Kill Rock Stars, and has nothing to do with the Kurt murder conspiracies despite what the theorists want you to believe. It's just a coincidence.

Olympia is also a total attack at KRS, which is probably why they replaced this with that. Olympia's alt. version is such a shot at Bikini Kill/KH....right down to the little bondfire clapping bit, like on the BK song ft. Joan Jett where they do that... It's on the demo or alt. version of Olympia which would have fit the album so much better.
Agreed on your theory; I still can't buy that she killed Kurt or Pfaff,... though. I do find the "how'd you like to move into my house/throw my baby and furniture out" line odd... and if Kristen did write the demo, she changed the lyrics a lot.... so it's a bit odd even though I do believe it relates to KRS, and the demo version or whichever did not make the album of Olympia is a total shot at KRS riot grrl bands.... the lyrics are obviously a shot. Her vocals. The bondfire thing I mentioned.... I forget which BK song it is on--one from a single ft. Joan Jett I think.

I tried to find it for years but i find that if you use an equalizer to turn down the lows (125hz,250hz, and 500hz) and raise the highs, it's actually very audible and the entire song is clear.
