About that same time, I was 14 years old and the first cassette tape I had was their "Tokyo Tapes". In Trance and Dark Lady are my favorite songs! Because of Scorpions, I was introduced to the world of Rock! Thank you, Scorpions!
This performance is incredible beyond words. Their German record company in the 70s did them no favors only marketing them in Europe and not in America. So many rock lovers I know have never heard their many ‘70s albums.I’m trying to remedy that. I’ll be sharing the heck out of this video. It’s fire.

Some cool kids in high school turned me on to Uli-era Scorps. When they started to break big a few years later, I was so ready for it!
As an American kid, I didn't hear these guys until Blackout--then they started playing the Zoo... It was so hard to get the early albums back then, but I did. 70s Scorpions are my favorite, but I'm happy they got huge success in 80s and beyond.

I'm so happy to see Uli-era Scorpions getting more attention and love. I first got to know Scorpions with this era, by pure accident - my father, who's a diehard rocker, bought a Scorpions compilation CD thinking it was from the 80s era, but it was all 1974-1977 stuff. The very first Scorpions song I ever heard in my life was "He's a Woman, She's A Man" - can you believe? And it was 1997, I was 12 years old. At that time all you could find was stuff from Lovedrive onwards. Thanks to my dad I got immediately hooked into Uli Jon Roth's screaming guitar and incredibly melodic solos, and I never looked back. He's still the guitarist that makes my spine tingle.

Similar for me. I was a big Helloween fan. I heard their cover of He's a woman, she's a man and saw it was a Scorpions song. I thought I had all of Scorpions albums cause I thought Lovedrive was their first album. I researched this Scorpions song I never heard of and discovered all the 70's albums.
What a gem of a performance. Definitely not their best known lineup, but probably their best lineup. What often gets lost with this group is the Germany angle. This still was the height of the Cold War. Germany still was split into two countries. There weren't any other German hard rock bands of note. These guys stood entirely by themselves. They don't get enough credit for how great they were in their prime.

Oh hell yes. Was 20 yrs. old when this song was recorded, am 65 now, still enjoy my rock & roll until I take my last breath. Scorps always rock, even some 50 yrs. later.
It's so sad that most people don't know early Scorpions. When a layperson thinks of Scorpions its Wind of change, Hurricane, No One Like You, Still loving you, of which are great songs. I feel that if they had been an English or American band, they would be the best band of all time honestly . 200+ songs 19 albums, 100 million sold, almost 60 years making music, I don't think anyone took a German band serious in the early 70s. It was 20+ years after WWII, maybe nobody cared about "Kraut Rock". I met a guitar player today who was a session musician for bands like The Guess Who etc, and I asked him if he knew who Uli Jon Roth is and he said he never heard of him. I was like WTF?????? Don't even get me started on The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which is a joke also. They are just unbelievable.

As much as I love the Scorpions work in the 1980s, they lost part of the soul of the band once Uli Roth was gone. What a performer! Such emotion in his riffs and he seems to play so effortlessly.

My mate played me Tokyo Tapes when I was about nine. I was hooked. Pictured Life, Suspender Love - that was a real wye opener. I loved it. I always vote for Tokyo Tapes for the best Live Album ever.

They are greater now than in the 70’s. This why Scorpions has awesome music that will carry on more generations. Their toured in 2022 which turned out great. Klaus hasn’t lost his voice which he is very blessed to have. Every band member of the Scorpions are gifted with their instruments including Klaus with his voice. I just love the band!!!!!!!!

I have been a Scorpions fan for a lot of years now and it still amazes me how impressive their discography really is. They have one of the best discographies in the history of music. A ton of great songs known and unknown to many. To be as great as they have been for as many years is nothing short of brilliant. If you own an extensive Rock collection and own nothing by Scorpions then it lacks legitimacy. Hard Rock/Heavy Metal owes a lot to Scorpions. Much respect. 🤘
