    Something is wrong with my MT8 brakes. After bleeding them 20 times, including at my local bike shop, and replacing the lever/master cylinder, and the pads, and the brake line, I still have an endless supply of air in the brakes! When I do the vacuum trick shown here, the air just keep coming out. After all this effort and part replacement, I'm totally out of options - ANY Help or advice would be appreciated!

    • @bleedzonekits
      @bleedzonekits  Před rokem

      If you’ve replaced everything except for the brake caliper, the issue might be your brake caliper leaking air, which is a possibility if it has damaged seals. So sorry to hear you’ve been having all this difficulty!! But you may need to replace more parts if bleeding your brakes hasn’t worked for you.

    If I can't get my lever & calliper level (lever is slightly higher) am I best of removing syringe from the lever first after bleed?

    • @bleedzonekits
      @bleedzonekits  Před rokem +1

      Removing the syringe from the lever first and closing the bleed port may help reduce oil leakage. However, even in our video with removing the fitting at the caliper first and with the lever slightly higher than the caliper, there was minimal oil leakage. So you should be fine either way!

      @@bleedzonekits Thankyou for your reply. 👍

    There is one mistake or a better way to do. Before insert and remove the caliper syringe you need to position the caliper upper the lever to avoid oil leak or you can insert the lever syringer a bit to cover the hole and in this way you have the oil circuit closer and oil leak is more difficult to happen.

    • @bleedzonekits
      @bleedzonekits  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for your comment! From our experience, we have not had difficulty with oil leakage as long as the brake lever and caliper are on the same level, but we appreciate your feedback :) Essentially, when the bleed port at the lever is closed first, it’s comparable to covering one end of a straw with your finger and the water holding because of the greater air pressure under the straw.

    I have brand new MT7 calipers and have performed this exact process a few times. No air at all in my lines. Lever is firm to pull. The pistons however do not retract and stay “gripping” the rotor. Any suggestions?

    • @bleedzonekits
      @bleedzonekits  Před rokem +1

      Normally, we would recommend giving your pistons a clean if they aren’t retracting, but if your calipers are completely new, then our guess is that your hydraulic line might have too much fluid. You can try unscrewing the reservoir cap and then pushing back the pistons a bit to force excess fluid out of the system. Hopefully that fixes the issue!

    • @mspring6387
      @mspring6387 Před rokem

      Yes they are brand new and have tried eliminating a small amount of fluid with the EBT screw removed and pressing in pistons with no joy. Also the pistons come out unevenly when squeezing the lever with pads/blocks removed to monitor piston action.

    • @bleedzonekits
      @bleedzonekits  Před rokem

      @@mspring6387 Sorry to hear that! If they're brand new and having all these problems, perhaps your brakes are defective. We'd recommend contacting the dealer and seeing if you can get a replacement because it shouldn't have these issues.

  • @joebidenshearingaid1618

    Is this bleed procedure for all magura series ?

    • @bleedzonekits
      @bleedzonekits  Před rokem

      From our knowledge, this is the bleed procedure for all Magura series. The only models our kit is not perfectly compatible with are 4 piston brakes. Our block will work with 4 piston brakes but might not fit super well. Hope that helps!

    You need to clean the brake caliper with isopropyl alcohol before returning the pads!

    • @bleedzonekits
      @bleedzonekits  Před 2 lety

      We appreciate your comment!! Yes, it's important to thoroughly clean your brake caliper before returning the pads so that oil doesn't contaminate the brake pads and cause them to squeak.

    FYI: The blue Royal blood fluid is just standard mineral oil with blue die for 3X the cost. Save some cash by just buying mineral oil at the local hardware store.

    • @bleedzonekits
      @bleedzonekits  Před rokem

      Yes, you could use generic mineral oil but at your own risk. While we don’t know the exact specifics on the mineral oil used in Magura brakes, most of these brake manufacturers claim to use mineral oil with a specific formulation for the proper boiling point and viscosity. Otherwise, your brakes may overheat if you’re riding hard and aggressively or you may have issues with lever engagement if the viscosity is not right.

  • @86309
    @86309 Před 2 lety +1

    Why would you level the caliper with the lever. The lever would be at the highest point and the caliper vertical and at the lowest point to get the air to ride to the top of the system and out into the upper syringe.

    • @bleedzonekits
      @bleedzonekits  Před 2 lety +1

      If the caliper is parallel with the lever, oil won’t drain out when you’re finished bleeding your brakes and remove the adapter from the caliper. You’re right that air rides to the top of the system, but when you push fluid from the caliper, it will flush out most of the bubbles and you don’t need to have the lever at a higher point to completely bleed your brakes. Hope that helps!

  • @konaking22
    @konaking22 Před 3 lety

    What is the purpose of drilling a hole in the lever syringe??

    • @bleedzonekits
      @bleedzonekits  Před 3 lety +2

      Drilling a hole in the lever syringe has two purposes. First, it allows air to escape when pushing fluid through the brake line from the caliper. This makes pushing the fluid easier with less resistance. Then covering the hole with your finger when you remove the syringe prevents oil from leaking out. It’s comparable to covering one end of a straw with your finger and the water holding because of the greater air pressure under the straw. Let us know if you have any other questions!

    • @konaking22
      @konaking22 Před 3 lety

      Ah ok 👍 just I bled them already without the hole but want a much firmer lever

  • @davidwinston1627
    @davidwinston1627 Před rokem

    It is odd why most of these kits don't already have a hole in the syringe if that is such a key point.

    • @bleedzonekits
      @bleedzonekits  Před rokem

      The syringes don't come with holes in them, but that's definitely a consideration that we'll look into to pre-drill the holes for customers!

      It’s a good idea to review the brake manufacturer’s instructions on bleeding your specific brake model if you have additional questions. However, we have found this bleeding method to work the best.
