    I think the tantive hallway scene is absolute gold. You can build on the one hallway and make a full tantive scene also the figs are awesome and the packaging look great . Also it’s the very first scene in Star Wars and how it got started . How can you not love it!!!

    • @DGBricksYT

      I love how iconic the set is. With 7 figures in a $55 set there's lots of room to grow to $100 or more. Just a question of when it retires and how deep the discounts get...

  • @rdyt0

    Picked up 24 units of World Map at $200 each last December. Couldn't be happier. Being the set with largest piece counts, it def is something worth collecting.

    • @DGBricksYT

      Wow! Did you feel any worry surrounding that purchase decision or did you expect them to be a slam dunk investment at that price?

    • @rdyt0
      @rdyt0 Před 6 měsíci

      @@DGBricksYT no worries at all. At the time of my purchase, no one was paying attention to it and many sellers were willing discounts just to get rid of it. 😂 My only regret was not being able to locate more units at that price then.

    World map and Batman have tons of rebrickable alternatives you can make, especially if you have more than one. I think that has added to the popularity. There really is endless possibilities with them.

    • @DGBricksYT

      I didn't know this when the sets were out but the world map has its own subreddit showcasing all the possibilities.

  • @inspired2rock1

    I think the real lesson is that extremely popular pop culture sets that are museum piece quality will be highly sought after.
    Keeping an eye on opportunities to pick up a couple Eiffel Towers and Titanics before they retire
    We also need to start giving major credence to MOC possibilities on art sets like Batman art. So many incredible portraits or even your own can be made with those pieces.

    • @DGBricksYT
      @DGBricksYT  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I think you have the right idea. I will certainly be eyeing the Titanic in particular since its form factor is friendlier to those with limited space.
      And on Art sets, I truly have no idea.

    What was that other Ideas set that would never die? Oh yeah, the Treehouse 21318. Asha's Cottage was $10 at Costco just a month ago, yikes. I grabbed two reluctantly. One for a gift, the other for parts. I'm not a fan of the Star Wars midi-scale sets but they will sell really well, the Invisible Hand being the only one I'm really interested in. A lot of people myself included are happy to miss out on the Coliseum and the World Map no matter how much they climb as the sheer size of these along with the sale price is just too risky to lose sleep over.

    Need to look at the art sets and non-licensed large sets as home decorating and not Legos. Art world maps wall art that is a little different has been really popular in home decor for past few years. Colliseum aka roman decor in home decorating has always been popular. What is popular and what is not in home decor? Why some did good and others did not. And most of the alternative art builds always used the Batman set. Sorry but one more thing have to add. These are things I thought at the time and made me really consider these but being a relatively new Lego investor I eventually second guessed myself and did not buy them because everyone talks about Star wars and cool builds.....

    • @DGBricksYT
      @DGBricksYT  Před 6 měsíci +1

      You bring up some good points on home decor. I'm not sure I'd have bought Art sets just on conviction, I'd want to see some data. Now that there's positive data on it though, lots more investors will be moving in to the Art theme. The Roman Empire may be in peoples' minds because of that whole joke recently, but I'm not sure that really explains the $550 Colosseum instantly jumping to $900. Lots of mysteries with LEGO investing...

    For the World Map and Batman, etc. Ive seen a lot of impressive MOCs hung on walls, so thats perhaps two reason for price increase post retirement - sets that can be hung on a wall (like a painting, taking up limited space) and scarcity. Who knows!

    I managed to pick up 2 world maps at a good price. I thought the set with the largest number of pieces just cannot be missing in a large collection. Not having it would be embarrassing, no? In addition, even if at some point there will be a regular (not just 1x1 pieces) set with more than 11.6K pieces, that set would likely be very expensive. So in that sense the world map is a steal for being the set with the largest number of pieces.

    • @DGBricksYT

      Does your set have dotted semicircles on the lower back side of the set? Some sets use tape seals, others use this newer pop-type seal. I've never heard of any difference in value. The pop-type ones might hold up better to temperature in storage, but that's about it.
