Dude, same, BB's can penetrate flesh, but they don't go that deep, like flesh wounds. .22 can still penetrate skin, and a lot of people like it because the round itself has a high chance of being lost in the body, or at least being found somewhere else there the point of impact. Higher calibre rounds usually stay in the point of entry, or they exit the body on the other side (exit wound) .22 sticks around, and relocates. Which one of my friends dads said "I'd rather get shot by a .45 than a .22, a 22 would tear up my insides just from traveling."
I'm a CCW, my husband is an OTR trucker so its me and our twin daughters, and I carry an FMK 9mm man do I love this gun. I was raised around guns like everyone I know was, including my husband, standard first time is 6yo. most of my family and friends are CCW as well. I practice fast drawl, accuracy, and thinking/ movement strategies for different scenarios, also with 0 ear plugs. my husband teaches me how to protect myself and create distance from an attacker who would ambush me to get the opportunity to drawl.

For example, a 36 grain. 22lr travels at 1,600 fps but a .223 (aka AR-15 round) travels at 3,000 to 3,200 fps (feet per second), yet it only weighs 55 grains. point being, if your looking for lethality, you want that combination of density and speed. Also, I'm only saying this because, I find ballistics to be fascinating. Engineering a new cartridge and weapon must be one hell of a challenge.

I found these guys a while back because they were the only ones with a few Bill Burr routines I was looking for... specially this routine. I think they really found a niche with laughing along with others.
