  • In this video I'm going to talk about UniFi AP AC Mash radios and how they can work without the UniFi controller running. And can Auto configure their lan if necessary. This is useful if you're switching between a internet connection and a device that will be taking the internet connection. On the wired lan.

Thank you sir. I just bought one as an AP hotspot and didn't realise it could mesh with others and create a network.

Actualy you can configure UAPs as a Standalone device, using the Unifi Network mobile app...

you mean, can you configure it as a mesh AP using the Unifi Network app? I did that, but once I remove the wire the AP is lost

yes, older POE injectors are limited to 100mbs. A tale tell sign is if the black one has the white logo.

How are you powering the AC MESH that is connected to your computer?

Nice video, I'm planning on running two of the UniFi AC mesh units just as your video. I've already setup the 1st mesh as the AP, I'm a newbie with wireless networks & Unifi, I see the UniFi controller application is quite extensive. When setting up the 1st mesh, all I did is select to "combine the 2 Hz & 5 Hz network names", my question; is there any further adjust/configuration that is needed to get the best performance on the 2 Hz or 5 Hz bands? Anything else I should do using the UniFi controller?

Couple things to keep in mind make sure to set your devices on manual channels. making sure to scan for used channels to avoid interference.
Keep in mind that your speeds will never be as fast as if there where connected with a cable.
Keep the devices as close to line of sight as posable.
Can you give a little more information about our setup what are they being used for? How far are they being set apart, what kind of environment will they be in urban or rural?
The unifi controller will auto-magicly do some optimization on its own.

The controller does not need to be up for any Unifi device once devices are setup

So I can just use 1 mesh AP wirelessly without having it wired to the controller and the router?
