That whole ride has a unique smell. Kind of nice actually. Haven't been there since the early 2000s though.

I wasn't even born when this was filmed Lol. Weird because this ride was so different and more new compared to the ride today. Whatever I still love it.

I enjoy it though. It smells nicer than most rides there, and its nice and cool
There was one like this at the Old Tucson movie studio location outside of Tucson, AZ. I remember it had more light than this ride. Unfortunately Old Tucson almost burned to the ground a few years ago but this ride was saved (along with a lot of the buildings)! It is due to be reopened this October.
I have been looking this up. What a neat location. So many great classics filmed there. Then I got to the part about the fire and what all was lost. A tragedy of movie history. What is this ride called? I am trying to find information on it. Dark ride on a track? Train?

I was 10 when they opened this ride. They marketed it in their commercials without any details, making it look mysterious and scarey. I went the day it opened for the season to see a line extending FAR beyond the line entrance. I waited for HOURS to get in, allthewhile thinking "this must be the best ride ever!"...
Upon exiting the ride, I had an overwhelming compulsion to light the building on fire.
this ride scared the shit out of me when i was a little kid...

the miner at the beginning doesnt work anymore, that or they just dont use it anymore. went there yesterday and rode this ride just to see the figure that made me cry as a child but was dissapointed when his corner remained dark
yes it did. i turned three that year and my dad took me on it and i cried after lol. its one of my favorites now
Also, I think it's time they fixed the robot at the beginning of the ride.. it can hardly move the lanturn anymore..

They still do. It's possible that they weren't working when you went on the ride that year.

Man! I remember when The Underground was like this. Now it's pretty shabby and falling apart. I was little and so excited to hear the guy talk. It's a shame it's nothing much any more.
They actually have done some updates and now at some points in the ride it sprays you with water to make it more fun. They added some red LED lights and some cobwebs also. But it still needs some updating. But since the park was purchased by Palace Entertainment this year maybe it will finally get the love it deserves.
man that place brings back so many memories. its been about 4 years since ive been back there!
This ride could have been SO much better. Great premise, but poor execution and effects. I mean, you can see that the falling rocks are really Styrofoam stuck to 4' x 8' panels with the mechanical arms making them move completely exposed. There is audio gear right out in the open instead of the wires run an extra few feet to hide them, etc. Even still, we get season passes to A-Land, and still ride this ride a couple of times a year. i moved out of state before this ride was made. i once fed a dolphin a fish in this spot though.
yeah my mom said that there was a dolphin show here when she was a kid and she said that it was really fun! They built the underground before I was born. I've rode this ride so many times! When I was little, I was terrified of this ride, but it's now my favorite ride at Adventureland!
Ranger Skywalker the underground is identical to fire in the hole at silver dollar city in branson missouri...if its still there. Im close to branson now. But before moving here would visit area growing up. Road the sdc version 30 years ago for first time. Used to be ampitheater there at adventureland. Rotated between dolphin show, high dive act, had game show for couple summers do live taping there and air on local tv. Was kinda like double dare i think. Been a while but saw it live couple times. Forget what else was there. If anything. But those were the main 3.
I played this for my kids it was not as scary as they remembered.

I will admit that I'm not the world's biggest fan of this ride. However, on hot days at the park, you can't beat the free A/C this ride offers!
i went on this ride about ten years ago...to my disappointment. sadly, it's covering up the old amplitheater that used to house various water shows. but i loved your update comments on the ride!
When i was in preschool, we went to adventureland as a feild trip anddd yeah while i was in line some girl was like "Yeah, i hear people jump out at you!"

What a fun looking ride! Reminds me of the Calico Mine Train @ Knott's Berry Farm (it looks similar to it since on Calico, it goes up a lift and simply rolls down a gentle slope that feels fast).

last time i road it it got caught on the chain lift i think it was the first one took a good 15min to get us out and it was about 95-100 degrease in there but i still love that ride.

haha. i just went like 2 days ago. and i totally forgot he had a beard! now his mouth just hangs open, his arm doesn't move, and when he blinks, his eyes barely close, making it look like he is high on something.
you're right. i'm just jealous that they could create such an amazing ride while im still barely finished working on my own Silly Silo.

i went there once and it was fucking hot so we decided to go on it becuase it was underground. if i was to rate it out of a 10 i'd give it a 6

i think the only time this ride EVER had a line was the first week it was open. now it would be hard to find a time when more than 3 people wanna get on.
i was there opening day. i think the line was like, a 2 hour wait.
anyway, talk about overhyped.

Underground is still there, and sometime since 2010 it was refurbished. The lights have been upgraded to LED lights and sets have been fixed. Some animations still don't work, but the Preshow figure is at least working again.

i used to hate this ride but now it sucks
awwohhh mann... i HATE this ride.. i havent been on it since i was like 7.. im terrified of it.. i wont go on it.. im 16.. and i wont go on it cuz its so f*ckin scary to me... im not scared of anything that i can think of, except for this ride.. maybe cuz my 7 yr old impression scared me for life.. im waiting for it to load completely so i can watch the vid.. and im like shiverin cuz im like scared. :s.. man im a wuss.. haha
This ride has been closed. Not very memorable imo
It is listed as operating now, at least, so hopefully any closures are temporary. As a fan of dark rides (rare these days outside of Disney/Universal), it’s my favorite thing. During my years as a passholder, I’d mostly go to walk the park, but would almost always pop on Underground and the Sky Ride. Sky Ride and Raging River have both been taken off the website, so I guess they are history now, too. The park still sits about 40 rides, as of today, though a few aren’t operating. Two more to be added next year.
