Could You Live in This Luxury Bus WITHOUT Slides? 2003 Monaco Royale

  • IMPORTANT UPDATE!! Looks like I got the year incorrect and this is really a 2003 Royale, I am sorry for the confusion and will try to address it shortly.
    Until then please disregard the incorrect year in the video, I called it a 2003 and then doubted myself so it is my fault and not Doug Sewell or Sewell Motorcoach.
    Today I am back at Sewell Motorcoach inspecting this 2003 Monaco Royale Bus Conversion on a Prevost XL2 chassis. I know a lot of people comment that they are looking for a bus with no slides so I thought this might be worth looking at. Did I mention that Monaco builds these Royale's quite a bit different that most bus converters, and I find them easier to work on and service and update too.
    I also appreciate the cabinetry and more simple interior design compared to many of the "over the top" bus conversions.
    Please contact Doug or his team at sewellmotorcoach.com with any questions.
    Thanks for watching!!

    That thing is a much better value than a new motorhome. Surprised it doesn’t have a door between the bedroom and bathroom. If it were me, do the TV’s, the awning, skip the color change and put that $$$ to some solar.

    If a Detroit isn't leaking, it has NO oil in it. Be sure to watch the temperature when driving, They DO NOT like to be run hot. Remember that a bus of this size and age needs to have the suspension looked at as the air bags are rubber and that deteriorates with age, plus the usual brakes and suspension maintenance that is HEAVY DUTY work that will cost if the work was deferred. Plan on spending $10,000 on maintenance. Don't rely on anyone else saying that it is all OK.

    2003 is a coach for the man that does not mind to be doing consistent maintenance and repairs. But the less systems the less trouble I have learned. Happy travels, cheers 😅

    We were in Alpine ,Texas, "Lost Alaskan RV Park" for the full eclipse. There was plentiful available spaces, no traffic. As full timers, this is our kind of place, 5,900 population, 4,500' elevation, 3 blinking red lights, and nice fairly new grocery store about as big as a large Safeway. (purchased a package of three cardboard eclipse glasses, $2.50) We obtained a larger motor home in Quartzite in January. All sites are pull through and easily fit the 40' RV with tow. About 90 mi north of "Big Bend Nationjal Park".

    Brilliant review James and some solid insights. I’m not sure why there’s no bedroom slide or door was there any evidence that it was removed? It’s certainly not a bargain as it does need some work beyond that mentioned in the video. I really like that it’s without slides that is a great benefit for parking up during the travels. It needs a better second bed as the current sofa looks like a torture bed. Given the mileage and taking everything into consideration including the industry struggles I think it’s expensive but it’s worth whatever someone is willing to pay. I love your inspections and wouldn’t buy anything without knowing that you have carried out an inspection. See you soon 💫

      It's common on these motor coaches not to have bedroom doors, sadly I only have an accordian "bedroom door" on my motorhome so I never use it either.

    I’ve been looking for a quality built class A, with no slides. The only ones currently made are the low end, no frills type. Didn’t know this existed. Will have to look into it. Think it’s way overpriced! Needs a new couch to get rid of the geriatric dust mites, and a new bathroom faucet, but otherwise looks great.

    Hi James I know it's off topic but I don't recall you ever doing a review of a safari? I'm looking at a 1999 Serengeti and from what I've researched they're similar to your Beaver I was wondering what you thought

    • @AZExpert
      @AZExpert  Před měsícem +1

      I think a did a trek and a few installs like a AGS on a Safari. They are nice and owned Beaver so there was a lot of crossover in the builds. Overall they chassis and roofs are the biggest difference nice units but I like Beaver better.

    Don't trust those coolant sight glasses -- especially on something that old. They get stained over time, and even though it might be an acceptable color, it may not actually indicate that there is any liquid inside!
