Terry, you’re the best. Thank you for this. I just got a free printer and kept getting that error message. I went through every step in Part 1 and Part 2. I did the swipe green tab thing a bazillion times. Didn’t work.
I took the guts out of the printer, vacuumed the inside and all the toners and drums. Wiped all visible toner powder away.Didn’t work.
What finally turned off the message was when I wiped the hang-y things, hanging off the top of the printer. That almost seemed like a throwaway act in your video. After I did everything else, I finally remembered that last wiping. It worked!
Thank youuuuu
Check the charge wires are there in each drum unit and not broken.
Yes they’re there and intact
Terry, - Thank you for your service today 21Mar22 - I had all but given up on any kind of service theses days. - Until you responded to my call for a spare part Fuser Unit. - You called in did the Job and I am back on the road. - Good value for money excellent service. - I am still in shock. - Thanks Terry - Future business assured.
Thanks for the great video. In my case the problem turned out to be the electrical contacts between the printer and the drum units on the right side. I cleaned the contacts on both the printer and the drum unit with contact cleaner on a swab and no more DRUM! errors. The printer was clean, there was no visible dirt or corrosion on the contacts, but cleaning them solved the problem.
Thank you!!! I have a broken wire!!! I have another one on order to deliver on Friday. We shall see but I have a great feeling about this. I'll let you know!
Wow! Great video! Tysm for posting. You saved my printer! 🎉
Very Well explained
Hey thanks for this, gave me an idea of what to look for.
I didn't have compressed air but as I was going through, I noticed there was a lot of Magenta toner all over the place. It was coating the grill below the wire and even covering the electrical contacts on the side of the cartridge. I cleaned it up with IPA and a cotton swab and it finally worked!
You're very lucky the drum surface wasn't damaged never use any alcohol or turpentine near the drum it fouls the drum surface
@@TerryJonesPrinterRepairs Lucky me. Well I was about to throw the whole thing in the trash anyway.
Hi Terry Jones - the barefoot printer guru. ;-). I managed to solve the drum! issue. The WT box says it's nearing full - I've fixed that (completely pulled it apart which is very adventurous of me) - I've followed your instructions last time it happened (aligning dodgey/thin connection pins). I have smudgey sort of lines along one side and then when I print several white pages to check if it's fixed I noticed there is lots of what appears to be toner spillage on the belt unit. I've taken it out and cleaned it once. I was naughty and used a damp (only just damp) microfibre. It's back though - so I assume there is some leakage in the toner cartridges? ? Yes I have non-genuine toner cartridges because Brother ones are so expensive I'd need to sell a kidney to afford them. Any thoughts? Oh and a side note - you're a legend for sharing. G'day from Qld by the way - where my computer room regularly gets to 35 degrees in summer (which is why I ditched my inkjet as I was cleaning heads more than printing). Oh my printer is a Brother 3150-CDN. **Edit** Hold the phone - just fixed it. Needed new black toner cartridge. Keep up the great work.
Hi, I'm having this problem with my drums and toners but they are stuck inside the printer and no amount of pulling makes them move. Is there a maintenance lever or a factory reset of some sort that could release the 4 blocks so I can clean them / replace them ?
Why magenta cartridge error and no toner on my mfc 9330cdw?
Any chance you can explain why a all four drum/toner modules are locked in the printer on my MFC 9340? I was getting a variety of paper jam and drum error messages and suddenly when I open the top of access the modules, I am unable to remove any of them, like they are latched in place. various attempts at power resetting and power cycling have not released them. It's almost as if the opening on the printer has a failed mechanism that should mechanically unlock these assemblies so they can be removed. Thanks!
The back left hinge on your printer will more than likely. There is a release arm at the back left hinge that pulls on the drum and Dev gears to unlock
Terry Jones Printer Repairs, hello. Quick question for you. I live in Canada so it is not viable for me to send my toners to you to get refilled. How do you go about refilling the Brother OEM TN-221/TN225 cartridges? Some videos show you have to melt a small hole on the top of the cartridge to refill it and seal it with foil tape or A couple videos I watched shows a small cap on the right side of the cartridge needs to be removed to fill it. I would like to stick with the Brother OEM cartridges and refills those ones because I know they work. Any help would be appreciated.
You pull the Dev roller out and you fill it through there. Do not melt a hole into the body it will damage the cartridge and eventually the drums. The people who make videos showing melting a hole are complete morons.
@@TerryJonesPrinterRepairs Thank you very much.
What if you get the Drum error and the toner and drum are not installed? Where should I look?
You should look inwards towards yourself and you should ask why am I asking such a stupid question
how to refile plz tell me
My string is broken, any solution?
pull 1 strand of copper wire from some old speaker cable or an old power cable and wire it through.
click the gear icon, select 'playback speed' select 1.5. You're welcome.
Where can I locate that
