That came up really well Ted, you’d have to be happy with that for trammed in. 👍

I think they should install "easy tram" set screws in there. That would be a nice upgrade.

G'day Rusty. Thanks for your comment. I've never heard of "Easy Tram" set screws. Will have to Investigate

Hi Ted, nice machine, you obviously looked at various units can you advise what made you select this one? I am also looking to upgrade, thank you.

Hi Gina. I did look at various machines from bigger than this one, to Bridgeport etc. I didn't want to specially connect 3 phase power which is 440v in Perth where I am.
The big +++ for this model is 240v with 10amp power consunption.
It has variable speed with a gearbox, so no belts to change for speed.
Motor on top of head, drives vitical spindle.
Has horizontal spindle within separate motor & belt drive adjustment for speed etc.
3 axis DRO & X drive motor etc.
      Plus I will be fitting drive motors to Z & Y .
These are some of the +++ for myself, checkout Hafco Machinary House for Specifications etc
      HM-54GV
There will be a proper review when I have the Hafco mill to my specs

Hello Ted. Thanks for the video. Does using the alloy foil, to correct the tram, affect the rigidity of the head, by reducing the area of the mating surfaces? Was that aluminium foil? Thanks Ken

Gday Ken.Thanks for your comments. I would rather use Stainless or copper shim plate, but the only thing I had at the time. When chasing. 002' to .003" shim, it's like foil, very flimsy. After a couple of folded layers, it compressed down quite well, giving excellent results, I'll recheck after a few months milling & see how it goes. Meanwhile I'm waiting for stainless shim to come in. The foil goes full length between the bottom 2 head bolts,so there is even layer when tightened.
