To be honest I can't hear what you say but the chain saw modified is great 👌

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see mention of how you got your first flat cut. That's pretty critical. If it's off they all will be. I got some square tube stock and welded a copy of what I saw on sale on ebay. Haven't used it in some years as we only have pine here

Hi. Sweet set up. I’ve tried milling/ripping and blew a piston in my Stihl 170. After reading I learned milling is very hard on saws so I spoke to the dealer, he said to go up to the 391. Should be no problem. After one day that saw died! What’re your recommendations in this area? Some say they don’t use a ripping chain and they have no worries with their saw….

My saw is a MS310 and I’ve had a for 12 years with no problems but until now I’ve always just used it for cutting a little firewood and some tree removal. Your 391 probably died because you have to break a saw in slow with a bunch of small cuts and low RPMs. I always mix my gas with extra oil, makes more smoke and less power but I feel it helps it last longer. I’ve had a stihl 044 for 20 years and it’s still running great. I’d recommend breaking in a new saw very slowly before you try ripping with it and even then give it breaks between cuts

Also, always let a saw warm up before you start .
