Octatrack Tutorial: How To Playback Long Samples

You can play long samples on the Elektron Octatrack by loading them onto a Static Machine (not a Flex Machine) and following the steps on the video to set a One Shot Trigger instead of a normal one.

You can also hold down the track button and then hit the play button. I have used this when making more gridless, ambient works with long field recordings.

Ah yes definitely! good call. Thank you … I haven’t updated yet to the latest firmware so I don’t have conditional trigs on the Octatrack yet 😅 how do you like the latest firmware? Are there any problematic bugs?

Seems like a shouldn’t have to do this if I’m in per track mode and my sample is only 10 seconds and I’ve changed my scale lengths and steps. I swear before I changed to per track mode. I had the sample playing a longer amount of time and it was perfect. I’m just getting to use my octatrack again. Was busy with my kid the past few years.. I’ve never gotten to fully master it. I’ve not forgotten almost everything.

what can you do with the track when itspkaying? do funny stuff? filter, time stretching with the slider?

If you adjust the length of a long sample, in order to save it as audio, you would have to resample it to print the edit as audio right? There is no bounce function?

Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with the Analog Rytm. I don’t know what it’s ability to play long samples and what control you may have over them.
