I've been a Sigma appreciator for awhile now, starting with the DP1, then a DP2M, then an SD Quattro, now an FP (and a second FP). For my minimalist videos, MOV is fine, and I love the look of the end result, usually using Teal and Orange -3. Ah, if only it had a simple flippy screen like the camera I was using, a Canon M100. So I've got one with a SmallRig cage, Atomos Shinobi, external mic, and Samsung T5. I also have the LVF-11 director's viewfinder (really just a hood for the back screen) which is suprisingly immersive, but adds bulk (but little weight). I use a Sigma MC-21 adapter to use my SA-mount Art lenses with the L-mount with full automation, which works well but again, adds bulk. The FP is also my stills camera of choice, with really great dynamic range. No IBIS, but the 24-105 f/4 Art does have OIS, though it's really heavy. I also have a Pentax 645Z, and the FP provides surprisingly satisfying results with a similar look, and is more fun to use. So even though I rarely use CinemaDNG, I love the camera and get a lot of satisfaction using it. It makes good use of my existing lenses, the P645 A-series lenses (which feel great and have a 'look' but make you appreciate the sharpness of the modern Art lenses) with an adapter, and others. I also use it as my Web cam with Zoom, with great results. So - it's quirky, but I love it. And rarely use CinemaDNG.

I agree, Garrett: the CDNG is why I like it so much. I can overlook everything else. I really hope that if they ever make an FP 2, they include IBIS and some form of compressed RAW codec and a 10 bit H265 mode. I don't even mind rigging out a small camera since you can create many different forms with it, but a tilting screen is also something I hope they look into.

Love my fp. The great thing about it is its versatility. You start small, and either use it small or build it out however you like. I'm coming from my last camera being a canon eos m with magic lantern, so I started out using tiny ass cameras lol. It just feels like a natural step up from that experience. Nice video. Yours along with the others definitely provides the full breadth of what you must be willing to deal with when getting a FP. That said, Sigma from the outset in their concept video, show that the enduser must know how they are going to use it. If you're going to do long form, docs or high-quality work, it's a given that you're going rig it out just like you'd have to do with a Komodo/Raptor, Arri or whatever. It's a given. Event if you use it to take quality photography it stands in the arena with the Leica's, etc. If you commit to an FP, you're committing to whatever niche you're going to apply it and you know going in what the limitations. This little powerhouse can adapt to whatever you're 'thoughtfully' doing. It's not the end-all by any means, but it is a very capable use-in-all circumstances device.
Thanks for the video. I look forward to seeing anything else you have created on this product. I'm interested in getting one to add to my Fuji XT4 but, there's a rumor that Sigma has another camera about to be release. That was hinted last year and this may be the window that we see something.

I just love this camera so much.. I got really into it when it hit the shelves, but eventually got the Fp-L last year. i don’t regret it! Its small form factor is great when on the street for location scouting and i don’t want to burn either 135 nor 120 film. I used to shoot my first 2 short dance films. I’m now rigging it up to make the best of it. Also, worth mentioning this video with Pawel Achtel ACS who worked on the underwater cameras for Avatar II, and praised the accuracy of the Fp sensor vs the Arri!! Isn’t that an universal camera con? Sigma fp truely rely on external accessories. Thus CAD files are available so you can mod your Sigma fp to your liking. 3th party solutions like from Dark power laboratory accessories are genius. Though commercial 3th party accessories lacks like DJI ronin gimbal. They gave a choice either you record cinemaDNG to external ssd or DJI controls from the grip. Why? Another con is audio. Shooting on the Fp for about half a year now, shot three short films a half hour short and multiple other projects on it and most of them without an external ssd. How about shooting 1080p Full Hd 12Bit raw. Can be done onto internal sd cards, offers a way to use the camera as barebones as possible or for example with the Lvf that sigma makes as a proper super8/16 style camera with a pistol grip

I've been eyeing this camera for a long time. Most of us will never need 12-bit raw due to a lot of content being viewed on mobile devices. I don't think there's appreciable difference unless content is viewed on larger screens. For what it is, I think Sigma fp is a great camera. I might buy it if I find ways to justify the investment.

Holy smoke, you have to pay to play somewhere in this equation! A $60 usb-c to m2 adapter and a sandisk 970evo 2tb SSD will capture plenty of long form content and you’d be foolish not to “rig it out” with smallrig frame, battery, and top handle. If you hate on this camera, you’ve not used one and/or had the correct frame of mind of its intended purpose - if rolling shutter is an issue, use a gimbal, but there are plenty of examples of how good this camera is for true cinematic work...
Even if you feel like DSLR is the answer, value for money: good luck with that over heating or half hour limit on recording issue - this camera for video and stills is a beast as long as it has power and a place to dump its data.

I don’t know who would buy this camera and not rig it out. it seems purpose built for true filmmaking, and not CZcams content creation. After having used it for a couple days, it seems unbeatable for narrative filmmaking at a fraction of a price of something like RED or ARRI. I think with the right lens choice, even with an EF adapter, this camera has a really unique look and is definitely a competitor with the black magic cinema camera if you are using it to make an actual film or video that is focused on purely visuals/pretty pictures. ✨

Thanks for your review of the FP. What I like best best from this camera is the color science. Hands down, regardless of file format. It's worth learning the quirks. Pair it with the Panasonic 5S (as good or better color straight out of the camera) both use the Leica mount. As an added bonus the FP and 5S are over the top IQ for still photography. The FP is easier to use with the added viewfinder for still photography. Nothing comes close to the image quality at this price point for either camera.

    @RobinParmar Před rokem

I considered this camera but you point out the downsides. Pointless recording internally, so you need to rig an external drive. Small fixed screen, so you need an external monitor. No EVF either. At this point you have a significantly larger and more expensive camera, not the tiny body Sigma presents.
So instead I bought a Lumix S which has the same external record options (ProRes to Ninja, BRAW to Blackmagic Assist) but which is actually useful with no further rigging. It has an articulated screen, EVF, 10-bit LOG internal plus reasonable file sizes, amazing anamorphic support, many cool stills features, AF in video... need I go on? I don't think that Panasonic get the recognition they deserve for their hybrid cameras.

All other cameras except the ARRI cameras have compressed or partially debayered RAW formats that don't actually behave like RAW. I am looking for a camera for documentary work, but I am not into "news style work", instead I want to create poetic mood documentaries and sometimes use long exposures of people and streets to create blur and symbolism...
I been looking into the AG CX10 as well as the HC X2..
I also looked into the Sigma FP and the Black Magic pocket cameras, both the 4K and the 6K
can any of these cameras do long exposure like the Russian photographer Alexey Titarenko did, but now in video/cinema camera work?
so that one see people and traffic dragged out like smoke in a symbolic way ?
I like what the Russian photographer did in his way of symbolically express people in protests, and want to do something similar but in motion.
look here and please when anyone that really know cameras got some time please get back to me and let me know what cameras would be great for this and for documentary work of catching people in protests, making them stand out like in Street photography but now in motion, video/cinema cameras vs camcorders, and tell me which cameras can do this way of filming that this photographer did in the 1900 century with still photography.

Oh that example video you linked was excellent! I would recommend thinking on a couple of things before purchasing a body for doc work.
1.) The BlackMagic system is one of my absolute favorites to work with due to its beautiful image, ease of use, HOWEVER, in recent doc work i've been on the data rates are eating me alive haha. To the tune of TERABYTES of footage. If this is no issue to you, then yes, the P4K, or P6K are wonderful and have so many utilities that a doc shooter would love (built in ND, false colors, etc)
2.) If you need a lighter setup, but still want quality image, I cant say enough good things about the Lumix ecosystem. If you're not into their hybrid bodies, I know the EVA-1 is a dream and can be had on the used market at a fair price. It shoots manageable data rates straight to SD cards as well.
As far as the "shutter drag" effect you're referencing in your example, most cameras now have the ability to change shutter degree/angle to help achieve this, as well as tools within editing softwares
Hope this helps and good luck!

      - do you believe this will be a camera on a level in between the 4k and the 6k pro or at what level will that camera be financially speaking?...
I saved up some money and sold a lot of old things...
but, as I still have the gh3 and three lenses to it I am not sure if is better to sell all those and spend the money on a full frame camera like the 6K pro (super 35?) or similar or Sigma FP (only RAW is an economic issue?) than keeping the micro 4/3 lenses and buy a P4k or a Gh5S or Gh6 (have not heard so good things about it?) for the money and be happy enough with the micro 4/3 format and its' lack for depth of field and all the low light issues I already had with the gh3 that I guess lives on in the gh5s to a less extent but still present in comparison to full format cameras? ...
I also wonder if you happen to know if there is an actual good documentary camcorder in 4/3 micro format that could take my present lenses or if no one ever made a 4/3 micro format camcorder ? ...
