Hey Bro, great job doing the motor. I just did mine last weekend and I freaked out as well with the lock situation. My wife tells me that's the way it's spoda be. I was relieved with that news. I think it's a safety issue so you won't lock your keys in the vehicle. They work fine when you start the engine. Thanks again, you saved me big bucks replacing the gears instead of the whole motor.
Glad to hear Tim! ya, I didn't feel like paying the dealer to fix this one. After doing this i realized how easy it was to pull off the panels and upgraded my speakers the following weekend.
For those replacing only the main gear, as I did, this won't be obvious, but it would be a good idea to find and remove all broken fragments of the old main gear from the assembly.
Dude! Thank you so much for this video! It inspired me to fix the cx7’s window in the same way (instead of buying a new motor, just replacing the gears). Now, the window seems a bit loose, any suggestions? Just a tad wind noise from the top left corner at highway speeds...
Hey PNMAJACK EBAY is the way to go. I cant remember which one i used. They made the CX7 from 06 to 12, I didn't find any discrepancies in the part numbers by the years but some of the adds will specify front/rear, left/right. Fixing the gears is a way better option than buying the motor assembly. Be careful not to push in the female socket in the door or you will have to remove the inner panel to reset it. I also destroyed a few of the little white plastic clips that hold the panel on so you may want to pick up a bag from your local auto parts store. good luck!
I buy all of mine from Amazon...$7 per gear plus free shipping. I let the Mazda dealer fix my driver's side window ONCE!! $500.00 no lie!! After that I have had to fix ALL OF my other Mazda CX 7 windows at a cost of $21 to replace the gears on the other 3. I will never take it to the dealership again to get any repairs done 😣...what a rip-off.

Buy the hole motor assembly. don't buy the pinions is frustrating to open that case.

I ordered a "kit" from ebay and they only sent the large gear. assholes
