    I'm a HUGE fan of Hyper G and have been playing with it all year long and have to say I've found my string. I used to play with ALU power spin. I tried Tour Bite which I really thought was nice also but I didn't like it near as much as ALU power spin or Hyper G. Thanks for this breakdown guys. Nice to hear your thoughts on it.

    @Vortex Designs,
    I prefer the 16 or 16L gauge, for an open string patterned racquet (such as 16x19), and prefer the 17 gauge for dense string patterned racquets (such as 18x20). They are pretty close in play-ability, but the 17 gauge has a bit better ball-pocketing, and grips the ball a bit more. I like the thicker gauges (16 or 16L) in open patterned racquets, because thinner gauges tend to move around a lot, and need realignment in between points. I find Tour Bite to perform best at lower tensions. In a dense string patterned, player's racquet, I would string the 17 gauge between 41-43 pounds. With an open string patterned racquet, I would string the 16L or 16 gauge at 44-46 pounds.

    What I find is that the Hyper G is a bit more consistent in shots, but its more dead so I have to hit the ball even harder with the hyper G, when the balls are wet (which is nearly all the time here in Ireland) then its harder to play with the hyper G specially for softer forced shots. And the Tour Bite is already a very dead string. But I like the Hyper G feeling. I use both strings, but what works for me to have the best of both worlds is to string the Hyper G at a lower tension that I would with the Tour Bite. E.g. I string the Tour Bite at 55 pounds, and the Hyper G at 53 pounds and its great.

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  Před 7 lety +1

      @ Dan Freedman,
      Hyper-G and Tour Bite are lower-powered compared to the Cyclone that I was using previously, so I dropped the tension a bit to account for the added stiffness. I also was looking for a bit more easy power, ball pocketing and comfort out of my stringbed, and the lower tension has helped with that as well.

    • @tenniswarehouse

      @Drink The Earth,
      I would likely drop down to about 50 pounds or lower with that string. For some softer co-poly strings compared to Solinco Hyper-G, I would consider Volkl Cyclone Tour, and Y-Tex Quadro Twist. With these softer co-polys, you may not need to drop the tension down as much, compared to Hyper-G.

      @ Robert Ye,
      65 lbs is extremely high for a polyester string! I would definitely consider dropping your tension to give yourself a bit more comfort out of your stringbed. I would suggest stringing it around 56 lbs, but if you want to stay with your high tension, try it ast 62 lbs and see what you think.

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  Před 5 lety +1

      @Manjunath Sharma,
      If you like Tour Bite, but want a little softer feel, Hyper-G is a great choice. RPM Blast is fairly stiff, and we find Hyper-G to hold tension better over time. Don't be scared to drop the tension by a couple pounds, as the control is very good. If you want something even softer, try the Signum Pro Yellow Jacket, or Tourna Poly Big Hitter Black 7.

    What's the difference between tension maintenance and playability duration? As far as i understand, the one with better tension maintenance would be the one longer playability duration. But here, there's a difference between them, hyper g has playability duration and tour bite has tension maintenance?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  Před 5 lety

      Usually those two go hand-in-hand, but not always. Playability duration does not directly correlate to tension maintenance, as some players will find the "playability" to be good, even after there is significant tension loss.

      I would try something like Babolat Xcel. It is a very comfortable multifilament which offers more power than the strings tested here, yet offers more control compared to many other multifilaments. I would try it at 2 lbs less than the recommended tension range mid point on your racquet -- so if the range is 50-60 lbs, try 53 lbs. Hit for a couple of weeks to see how it works. If you need more control string at 56 lbs on your next string job. If you need more power string at 50 lbs on your next string job. Happy hitting, Chris, TW.

      It depends on your stroke style and personal preference. If you have shorter, slower strokes and don't break strings often, you may like the power, comfort and feel of a nice multifilament like Babolat Xcel. If you have longer, faster strokes and can generate much of your own power, you may like the control, spin and durability of a nice polyester string like the ones mentioned in the video above.

      Both of these strings from Solinco, are stiffer than the Volkl Cyclone. The Hyper-G is the softer of the two, but at the same time is pretty low-powered. The Tour Bite provides a bit more liveliness, closer to the Volkl Cyclone, but it is going to be stiffer overall. If you like the power of Cyclone, Tour Bite would be the one to go with. If you like comfort level of Cyclone, but don't mind having a bit less power, go with the Hyper-G. If you want the comfort, and power of the Volkl Cyclone, then I would keep using it.

      @@ashleymeloen3109,
      I would likely go with Hyper-G 16L at about 52 pounds. It holds tension a lot better than RPM Blast, and I don't think you need to string it too tight. I string my VCORE 98+ at about 47 lbs, with Hyper-G, as I prefer lower tensions. Troy, TW

    i am a 4.0 player and string at 54pounds for hyperG, will you suggust to decrease the pounds to 50?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  Před 4 lety

      It is personal preference, but if you want a slightly softer feel, and a bit more ball pocketing, then you could try dropping the tension. If dropping tension, then we recommend starting with maybe two pounds, and see how that feels, then maybe decreasing more based on that experience. Troy, TW

      @@user-zf3fv9ye2i, I see, and yes lowering to about 50 would likely feel a bit softer, and hopefully take away from some of the jarring effect on the arms. I typically string my racquets at about 47 pounds, but that is just my preference, some prefer tighter, and some looser. Troy, TW

      @tenniswarehouse  Před 3 lety

      Cyclone Tour was made to be a softer, and more powerful version of Cyclone. Cyclone offers a bit firmer, crisper feel, and has a bit better control. Cyclone Tour is more lively or powerful, and a more comfortable than Cyclone, but looses tension a bit quicker. Troy, TW

    With the hyper g 1.15 how long does it take to its broken?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  Před 6 lety

      @siem van es,
      That's hard to estimate based on different player's skill levels, swing type, racquet/string pattern. We had the 1.15 gauge in the Prince Phantom Pro 93P (18x20 pattern), and it has held up well. Roughly 10-15 hours of play, and it has not snapped yet. If using the 1.15 gauge in an open patterned racquet, the durability will decrease. It really comes down to how often you break poly strings in your racquet.

      @tenniswarehouse  Před 6 lety

      @siem van es,
      Ok, thanks for the info. The Hyper-G will hold tension quite a bit better than RPM Blast Rough. With your strings lasting you about a month, that is a decent amount of time. If they are in the racquet for longer periods of time, they can lose performance, and can be harsh on the arms. I recommend going with the 1.25 (16L) gauge of Hyper-G, and dropping the tension about 2-3 pounds compared to your RPM Rough, as Hyper-G plays stiffer and holds its tension longer. I don't see a huge necessity to go thinner with the gauge, as your racquet has a pretty open string pattern. Likely the thinnest I would go would be the 1.20 (17) gauge version of Hyper-G, in your Pure Strike 100.

      Are you sure you had Hyper G installed!? What tension was it? That seems a bit off...definitely more control and more spin and durability than Sensation and I too also used to use sensation...and would have to restring it every hour or so!
