The best thing about raves in the early 90s was that nobody knew about them, and it was like a big family of 3000 people who would meet up at all the big parties, and then you'd see familiar faces at the smaller ones. Post-Anna Wood, word got around, the quality of the crowd plummeted and though it was still possible to enjoy a party, the real spirit of raving was long gone.
@StaticTremor -You are 'spot on'.. I wound it up about the end of 1992 (only 21yo) for various reasons, but I noticed the 'underground' element departing. The new crowd arriving was a mix of great kids but also others that weren't interested in the rave/love spirit. The music around that era started to change too from the upbeat, happy and optimistic lyrics to a bit more serious and intense. Oh to bring back those days when everyone was friendly, smiling and just being themselves...
