I must say that this is, musically speaking, the best concert I've ever seen/heard in my 68 years on this earth. Hats off to Mr. Vince Mendoza and the WDR BIG BAND and the WDR FUNKHAUSORCHESTER, the sound engineers, lighting crew and everyone involved. I believe that Curtis Mayfield would be so very proud of this MAGNIFICENT tribute!!!

I grew up in America every Friday n Saturday listening to Curtis Mayfied, Bobby Womack, Tyrone Davis, Areatha, Gladys Knight n the pips n other great soul singers. This was real soul music back them. My mom n Dad this kind of music is all they listen to. Great memory rip Mom n Dad. My mom loved Curtis Mayfield music. I was a kid but I loved the superbly album. I still know most of it word for word. I’m here singing now!! The band, orchestra. Leda I, Bilal, n everyone was great here. I really enjoyed the tribute ❤❤❤

Bravo to the amazing Band, Orchestra, Camera & Lighting Crew, Sound Engineer, Vince Mendoza, Ledisi, and Bilal for this wonderful concert and tribute to the Great music of Curtis Mayfield. I was a young kid in the 70's and enjoyed his music and this tribute brought tears to my eyes because it was so good, I'm sure Mr. Mayfield and his family would agree. Kudos to Germany for this epic tribute to genius Curtis Mayfield in grand style. The fact that the two singers they selected for this project are two of our greatest but most underrated, makes it an even greater and more meaningful project.
Have you seen the T Pain concert ",On top of the covers,"?. Him and his band kill it. And he's doing everybody else's music all genres except opera. A very talented young man. The arrangements are killer. Enjoy 🙏🏾😎
I once believed Mr. Mayfield never fully received the acclaim he deserves. Never again can I say Curtis’ genius hasn’t been fully recognized and appreciated. This outstanding and masterful orchestral tribute to him has forever changed all of that for me. I couldn't have said it better myself, everyone talks about Gaye and Wonder but Curtis was like the solo EWF with more funk, he was proud, black and positive. I love his music so much, it's so uplifting and raw.

Agreed. This tribute paid great homage. It is ALMOST as good as the original. I remember listening to this album as a child. Laying on the floor next to the speakers of our component set absorbing every minute, flawless chord and harmony. Curtis Mayfield like Isaac Hayes was masterful in his music production. A talent lost on today’s “artists”

Studying Musicians, we grew up with Mr. Mayfield it's so sad and Ironic that the conductor would mention that the audience would only recognize, "Super Fly?" This is "Black Classical Music!" Curtis Lee Mayfield (June 3, 1942 - December 26, 1999) was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer, and one of the most influential musicians behind soul and politically conscious African-American music.[5][6] Dubbed the "Gentle Genius",[7][8] he first achieved success and recognition with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted group the Impressions during the civil rights movement of the late 1950s and the 1960s and later worked as a solo artist. Mayfield started his musical career in a gospel choir. Moving to the North Side of Chicago, he met Jerry Butler in 1956 at the age of 14, and joined the vocal group The Impressions. As a songwriter, Mayfield became noted as one of the first musicians to bring more prevalent themes of social awareness into soul music. In 1965, he wrote "People Get Ready" for The Impressions, which was ranked at no. 24 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.[9] The song received numerous other awards; it was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's "500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll",[10] and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998. I cried!

Curtis was a wonderful man I met him years ago when I was modeling. He used to sing songs to me.
