- Now that the MLP/PPA merger has closed, there are some things that still need to be discussed. The boys talk about contract buyouts, how this could change some of the pros we see at tournaments and they preview the upcoming PPA tournament in Minnesota this week.

Tons of outdoor courts in MN. The lifetime courts do have dead spots, so sometimes the ball will hop, or stay down.

Lifetime just launched a new location in nj and half of the courts are soft like that. Borderline unplayable.
What’s the deal? Is it deliberate? It’s a new gorgeous facility with messed up courts. Ppl are riled up in the area. Really damaging the lifetime brand

Volair is honoring the deal. So from someone who despised the previous Volair paddles. The Mach 2 Forza, Volair caught lightning in a bottle. It’s a ridiculously good paddle, much to my surprise. Also Tyler you might not know who this is because you don’t follow the NFL too much. But Jimmy is like Adam Schefter. He reports rumors but he’s so credible it’s become if Schefter is reporting it, it’s true.
Guys, don’t think the beef is with you promoting your sponsors but ignoring the shortcomings of a ball that’s a) over-priced b) deforms makes you lose credibility. Pickleball Studio absolutely ripped the ball. I’m sticking with Franklin & Crown for now. I’d imagine it’ll be the same for the 99% of players who don’t play PPA.

So they shouldn’t be surprised by folks calling them out for how much they LOVE Vulcan balls. They’re being PAID to say great things about it.

It’s a plastic ball. They all have those same problems. Or they are too soft if they don’t (x40, crown, etc). Complaining about the ball is like complaining about the wind…deal with it.

This tournament with many of the top players out is like the APP part of the PPA LOL.
I think Tyler needs to make the picks. He has a feel for the players. I think he was thinking Jack Sock will go further.
Refs are expected to pay their own travel/meal/hotel expenses for $5/$10/$12 per MATCH which can be 1, 2 or 3 games.
PPA actually pays the refs better, provides shirts, hats. Refs have to buy their own ref tools & uniforms for USAP sanctioned tournaments.

Referees do it for the love of the game, not for pay. It’s a pretty abusive relationship between USAP & potential referees.
Most pickleball referees lose money traveling to tournaments. Refs certainly don't do it for the money! Referee pay has definitely improved over the years, and some tours pay better than others and include a travel stipend. I used to get paid $5 dollars a match back in the day (2017) 🤪

It's not $500 but I threw $10 on Parris when she was +410 and supposedly up 10 -6 against Lea. Then they switched up the score after game one and still had the score wrong when they then had Parris up the second game 7-2 so I went $15 on over 30.5 when she was up again but she wasn't. Lea was up 7-2. I'm still up almost $400 so I'm not trying to complain but that was more than a little bit ridiculous. It was probably made worse because the progressive draw made it so 3 matches you could bet on were all on at the same time and it wasn't the primary or secondary stream.
ill never bet on pickleball when the scoreboard is wrong 40% of the time.

59:40 refs have to be consistent. NBA refs are a joke, letting players take 5+ steps without calling a travel, and I just can’t get into the NBA again with the lack of integrity. If a rule won’t be enforced, get rid of it and calls “real” rules consistently.
As to Riley, “the tour” doesn’t bring his sponsors a lot of $ since there aren’t thousands of people watching consistently. In clinics he’ll still be meeting tons of people and can be pushing his sponsors gear and paddles at clinics across country
What exactly is jump roping? Is that a new rodeo event? 😊. AI in sports sucks. You need the umps in baseball to make bad calls so you can get mad at them and not your team for sucking. Lol
@Tyler Is it harder for you to find partners for tournaments now that you’ve had this podcast? Not having a partner until last ish minute for both mixed and gender doesn’t seem normal.
Ummm, 40,000 and 80,000 are whole numbers. 100,000 is just a nice round number.
