Like a 1000hp mkIV Supra, I've literally never been in one that that doesn't feel like it's about to fall apart. Same thing goes for most of the cars Hennessey modifies, he adds stupid power, but doesn't upgrade brakes, suspension, or anything else, so they just feel like trash. People forget 300whp in a small car can be monstrous, and for something around 3300-3400lbs, 500hp still feels like a ton. Hell, even a new GT3RS only has a hair over 500hp on paper, and well under 400lb ft, and those can still do 2.9-3.2 sec 0-62 times. My M2 CS with 490whp and 420wtq (slightly tuned, mostly just adjusted for 101 octane) will do right around 3.5 secs to 62, and still handles incredibly well. Then again, I couldn't give a fuck about drag racing, I'd rather spend my time on the actual race circuits, where the "big powah" guys are usually seen as liabilities. A car like Drew's Supra, Civic, Mustang, they're all utterly pointless on a proper race track.

Those old Celica’s are fun cars anyway, I honestly wish Toyota would bring something like that back, a proper small, mid-engine sports car. You’d be surprised how much the handling characteristics of that Celica will inform the way you drive forever. Those things weigh, what, a little over 2000lbs with around 200hp? You could easily hop into a Cayman S or GTS and feel right at home when you’re ready to drop the money on something like that. Mid and rear-engine cars make you drive so much more deliberately (because of the way they can “snap” on you). I’m not sure I’ve ever been in a Celica GTS, but I know a handful of folks who have great Celica track builds from that era, as well as the MR2’s. Those engines rev fairly quickly to begin with, but they’re actually ridiculously fun if you go for a high-RPM build (my friend with the MR2 track car has modded cams, valves & springs, a very light single-mass flywheel, fully adjustable suspension, and I think that’s really about the majority of what he’s done; he didn’t raise the HP by all that much so as not to upset the chassis, but it revs a lot higher and faster now). An absolute blast to hustle around mountain roads and racetracks, and they’ll teach you the definition of “DON’T LIFT-OFF in corners!”, without having to reach dangerous speeds to understand it. I’d honestly probably hold on to that Celica GTS, especially because cars like that have been a dying breed for ages. Can always do some upgrades in the future, or get yourself the more powerful car and simply keep the Celica in good shape. It’s wild those things are already over 20 yrs old.
I’ve heard rumors that the celica and mr2 are coming back. Not sure if they’ll make it to NA or not. They claim 400hp awd. That would be amazing for sure. The gts is ~2500lbs, 180hp crank, and 130ft-lbs. Its not a bad car by any means just a little slow. My dad still cant believe that my cars as old as i am. I do plan on keeping it since theyre getting more rare. Nowadays everything is full of sensors and assisted crap, it really is a drivers car imo.

It would be really interesting to see what drew would list the prices of the cars he's reviewing, I'm not saying a 90s chevrolet truck could be worth 50 grand but vehicles can get vintage car plates after 25 years if the paint scheme is period-correct (in Texas at least don't know about other states) and cars with those plates can be listed considerably higher than similar marketed cars around that time period

It's a fairly easy question to answer. All I have to ask myself is, could I spend 100k on building a simple Honda Civic into a pumped up power machine. Absolutely, I could, easily. That six figures could be reached without factoring in my time. Realistically, after that kinda work. It would no longer be a simple Honda Civic. To most of the world, it would be worthless. A built car value is going to be different depending on who you are asking. Now, do I think the cars in this video are worth that kind of money. I wouldn't be able to determine that without being able to inspect the cars thoroughly. Many people will base their build value based on someone else's with the same specifications that sold for a price. What is said on paper can be completely different from what it actually is in reality.
That Fox Body probably makes somewhere in the 700hp range. It’s rated for 1300hp, but only has a 31 spline axle, and not a 33. So, my guess is 700-725ish. But definitely not more than 800.

McLaren holds value quite well but the build aint quite right own a 720s for quite some but I sold it afterwards. bought two cars after that and I'm happy with my decision cayman gt4 rs and evora gt430 (dsg is good for time but not that engaging enough for street and light track day so manual all the way)

That civic is worth 60k at most its a well built car and hard to get reliable power out of them. Kyle from boosted boyz has 80k in his awd hatch that makes up to 1000HP and 90 into the 1600HP mr2, you'll never get every dollar out of what you build no matter what
