Jagruthi by Jayanthi Kumaresh is an album on the Saraswathi veena, interwoven with strains of the bamboo flute and harmony of the violin. It begins with a Varnam Arunodhayam, in raga Bhoopalam, a morning raga. The chanting of Shri Rudram with the veena is a special treat to the listeners. Uthukadu Venkatasubbiah's composition Paalvadiyum Mugham on lord Krishna is interspersed with harp, flute and violin, making it a very unique piece.The choice of songs covers a panorama of composers providing variety and classicism, tradition and innovation. Dr. Jayanthi has performed extensively in different parts of the world sharing the stage with stalwarts like Ustad Zakir Hussain and heads the Indian National Orchestra.
