    I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm czcams.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

    Dear Wolfgang and Sebastian. I recently purchased a T-8 and I am thus a novice in mastering the machine. Thank you so very much for providing all of these sharpening videos. They are very helpful and well presented. Most especially, I wish to commend you both on your mastery of the English language. Yes, sometimes you hesitate slightly to find the correct word or expression but the meaning or presentation does come across. Thought process from Swedish or German into English dialoque is challenging. Thank you both again, and especially to the camera men throughout all of the episodes. Norm, from Canada🍁🐧🍁

    Years ago, I purchased a Super Grind 2000, and used it extensively to sharpen all my chisels, plane irons, and knives, and then also sharpened my friends' tools and knives as well. You have an outstanding machine, and the "attachments" to go with it. I've not used it for several years (everything was sharpened), and now I come to have my memory and skills refreshed. Thank you for your videos and your machines for making the use of cutting tools useful again. Cheers, from Arizona, Robert.

    I got the T-8 for Christmas yesterday. Been practicing on some old chisels and have been very pleased with the outcomes. I'm going out to the shop to work on one of the older kitchen knives so the wife won't be mad if I make a mistake but the system is pretty fool proof if one follows the rules you just showed us. This is a fantastic product and I'll be ordering the cabinet soon.

    I have learned a bit more from your video. There are already many helpful videos on CZcams. What was best for me was seeing how to handle the tip. Raising the handle instead of rotating is important. It takes some practice to learn to do what Wolfgang is doing so clearly. My machine is tucked into a corner so I have always operated from the front with the wheel turning away from me. but now I am inspired to pull the machine forward and rotate it 180 degrees and work with the wheel coming toward me. Thank you.

    Thank you for these videos. I am recently retired and wish to begin a sharpening business here in Toronto, Canada to keep me busy AND to make extra income besides my pensions. I have always appreciated blades of every description, especially knives and axes which I have very many. However, some of my friends are carpenters/building contractors and barbers/hairdressers, so I believe this could also be a business opportunity. After much research, I have determined that the Tormek machines are the best sharpening systems, of the best quality, durability and warranty in the market today. I was initially considering the T4 bushcraft model but now I am not sure whether to purchase the T8 instead. Your suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you!

    Nice video. I really like the idea of you doing these periodically. I am new to sharpening. I just received your drill sharpener. I think I am starting to catch on but still have a ways to go to get it perfect. I would love to see you do a video on the drill jig with regular bits and carbide masonry bits.

    Ottimo video, interessante. Una domanda: perché Tormek non realizza un (SVM-45 SVM-140) AUTOCENTRANTE? sarebbe molto utile ed eviterebbe le innegabili differenze di bisellatura. Grazie.

    Great video guys! (Now i know what I do wrong so the tip of my knives always has/had the wrong grinding angle... :-) )
    I was just wondering; why does Wolfgang hones (on the leather wheel) freehand, so not using the support? Isn't the support more stable to hold the correct angle?

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  Před 4 lety +3

      Hello Stijn, Thank you. When it comes to honing you can off-course use the support as well. It's a questions of preference. Most of us instructors at Tormek prefer do it freehand but whatever you are most comfortable with and gives you a sharp result! Stay safe.

    Strictly in terms of final result and ignoring the convenience aspect, can honing with CW-220 produce as sharp an edge as with the traditional leather wheel?

    Interesting. I've always just used whet stones for my cooking/kitchen knives but a lady who lives here in Blackheath (NSW
    Australia) uses a Tormek to sharpen her violin making tools.

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you Allan! Whet stones work just fine, it's just a matter of time and effort, and how picky one is with the result. The Tormek watercooled sharpening system allows you to keep a perfectly even bevel with the same angle over the entire length of your tool, so there's less room for error and will be much faster than a whet stone. and you can sharpen most edge tools on a Tormek, not just knives. Watch our other sharpening classes, and you might just get convinced :D

    The US-105 on my T8 has some 'play' in it when loose. The outside portion of the horizontal bar drops about 1/16" lower than the inside. I can level it by pressing down on the inside portion while tightening the set screws. My question is, does it matter if the horizontal bar of the US-105 is not exactly parallel to the stone? Or should I always attempt to make it parallel before sharpening?

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  Před 4 lety +3

      Hi Peter, The "play" when it's loose is for the bar to run smoothly when you want to raise or lower the bar. Then when you found the right height you just press on the bar over the micro adjustment and lock the to screws and your bar will be perfectly parallel.

    Hi Tormek, Thank you for the great instructional video. I am having a problem with sharpening a kitchen knife: When I use the method of the magic marker to reproduce the existing bevel, I find that on the one side the stone completely removes the ink = perfect reproduced angle. BUT: when I flip the knife to the other side, to check if it the stone removes the ink there also, it is in a completely different angle I believe, because it's far from removing any ink at all. What am I doing wrong here? Why are there two different angles on both sides? Thank you for the feedback!

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  Před 3 lety +1

      Hej fabioakadekat, as you say, far from removing ink, that means a huge differense of the angle. that means you have two different angles on both sides. Another reason is that the egde isn´t in the center of the total blade thickness. If you have a blade that is more than 4,5 mm thick which you can have a deviation of 0,7 degrees. But that is nearly unvisible in the width of the bevel. this would be ground of in two strokes of the stone.
      In your case you have to correct the angles and "repair" the knife.

  • @matthewjones8854
    @matthewjones8854 Před 4 lety

    Thanks Guys, on the angle tool, how do you use the notches around the edges? that would be good to see.

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Mathew, Thank you. The notches around the edges works better with certain tools than others. For chisels for example it's a great tool. We'll have that in mind and try to show how to use them in our chisel episode up ahead.
