  • In an emotional interview, border patrol agent Jacob Albarado recounts rushing into Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, while off duty to get to his wife and daughter who were inside the building. “I got there as fast as I could. I was trying to get toward my wife’s room and my daughter’s room,” Albarado says.

Look, I'm as relieved as the next person that this man's daughter is still alive today, but his story is only going to add fuel to the fire the Uvalde PD is in. They know this guy so they let him go in to save HIS kid while his fellow officers are 1) refusing to go in themselves and 2) are literally restraining every parent there from doing what they allowed this man to do. The hypocrisy of "We're letting him go save his kid because he's one of ours and you're not" is not going unnoticed.

I saw one parent say the Marshalls restrained her and held her arms down when she tried getting passed them. Then they tried saying “we never detained anyone on scene - we arrived on scene and ensured a calm and safe environment” on the second day. Come to find out that wasn’t the case.
Something is off about this. I’m not saying the shooter was handed a gun by the police, but I’m saying the police completely f-ed up, didn’t see warning signs posted online, didn’t run in to immediately disarm the threat as soon as they arrived on scene (apparently elementary school students could hold their own while the police coordinated because their team that was supposed to handle these emergencies couldn’t get together for some reason), and they let fellow first-responders in but not the ordinary parents with their children trapped inside with a shooter.
I also read that cops were yelling out to students “is anyone in there” and “come outside the window” and one student said one of his classmates responded while the shooter was in the room with them and he shot her. I don’t know it’s a verified but based on what the scene was described as, I wouldn’t put it past them.

Had he turned a blind eye & refuse to give aid he could’ve been prosecuted for that. So, yes, he was not only allowed to go in, but legally obligated to do so. I do agree it was messed up that the other parents weren’t allowed to go in while the cops did nothing.
You handle the “crime scene” after the fact and leave it to the forensic technicians when the aftermath and bodies are left, marking where they lay. Not immediately removing bodies and only looking at gun analysis. I’m studying forensic science and criminal justice in college… so that “it’s an active crime scene” stuff is b.s.
Why were cops restraining parents trying to get their children BECAUSE the cops weren’t going inside while their children were being slaughtered as if they were some livestock? I don’t even have kids and I understand the gravity and mayhem that situation would’ve caused. That’s why you disarm the threat and focus on your job rather than wait, wait, and by the time you go in nearly every parent has shown up and they are panicking, scared, hearing gunfire, etc.
Even when it’s not police shooting unarmed citizens at traffic stops, and it’s police dragging their feet at the expense of children’s lives there will always be that one guy that defends them, huh?

He had the privlege to be able to go in and get his family. Other parents were put in handcuffs and pepper sprayed while being held back. While I sympathize with him one end, it is infuriating on the other. His story only valadates what has been said already. Police were allowed to go in and get their loved ones out. It seems like he had more empathy for his fellow cops than the other parents and children. It seems that adage that police serve and protect themselves is clearly on display here.

Unfortunately no other parent was given the same opportunity. The opportunity to save their child. Highly shameful that the police only worried about getting THIER children out and left others to die all whilst the parents were right outside willing to give their lives for them. That shouldn't be the norm, I would have been in there even if my wife and kids weren't in that school because I understand that there are other wives and kids in their who want to live as much as mine own

As a father and a husband, this person did exactly what was necessary. As a law enforcement officer, this is not a good look for him or the department. He should have just lay low and away from the media, be thankful that he still has his loved ones.

Is that so the chiefs and governor can spin their narrative? Having trouble understanding why being honest about what he did on that day, is a bad thing.

You forgot a very important thing in your "praise" - he could only do so because he was a off-duty cop and the others knew so they let him pass while holding back the other parents from doing the same. Not so heroic after all, right?! Worst part, he did not even attempt to save other children/teachers. This is not what a hero but an egomaniac does. No need for people like him in the force!

I disagree with everything 100% . "not a good look for him or the department" is a vast understatement. Did he go in as a parent or LE? He was not just a husband and a father or he would have been standing outside on the sidewalk watching. Can't have the cake and eat it too. The police stopped other fathers and mothers from going in at all. Yeah, I know can't have civilians in there right? An hour later would you still be waiting for someone to stop the shots?

It's heartbreaking that he was ALLOWED to go in because he knew most of them while so many parents were forced to wait out and even assaulted for asking to go in. Glad he also saved other children, but this doesn't sit well with me.

Must be nice to be able to go in and find ur kid and wife to make sure they r safe. Never count on others to protect ur family the way you would protect ur family. Smh he should feel ashamed of him self.

So He didn't go into the classroom the shooter was in because according to him he didn't have his gears. So what is heroic about that? He went in just to save his wife and daughter and once he knew they were safe, he made no attempt to go in the classroom the shooter was in. Hero my foot.
