      From the official website the SSD has Sequential Read/Write Up to 2,400/1,750 MB/s , Interface
      PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe v1.4 and Endurance 300 TBW. On Amazon the price of the higher version SN550 but 2280 is 54$ for 500GB and 95$ for 1TB.

    Thanks for the video brother just following up. Were you ever able to experiment with a bigger SSD internal drive and got it working or if you had to do any weird sketchy hacks ?

    it looks like that SSD is the same size as a wifi card, I wonder if it would be hard to get one of those adapters that let you put a full size NVMe drive in a laptop to work with the Series S or X

    Have they released the System Firmware for the Xbox Series X/S? If they did I wonder if we can buy a bigger capacity M2 Drive and just throw the Firmware on it.

    My own personal Series S gets VERY hot around the black vent on the top of the unit. Is this normal or is it something that I should get checked out?

      No mine does/everyone's, lol u can actually smell it plasticky case when you put ur nose to it lol 🤣 I'm crazy, but yeh it's Normal because the Heatsink is right underneath that fan if u feel the edges you'll feel cool air so it's working as intended. ✔

    Believe it or not. August 2021 series S and on don’t have the RAM shield anymore. It’s open. I changed my paste that’s how I know.

      It has a thermal goomy pad against the motherboard backplate.

    Honestly for 300 bucks this thing is a steal.. i'm guessing the bulk of the money will be coming from the gaming subscription format.. i wouldn't be surprised if they made zero money from this system.

      It's pretty well known by now that the consoles are always sold at a loss/very little profit... They make the money back on licensing and accessories like headsets, controllers, external hdd's, etc.

    awesome, thanks for the tear down, now that I know it is very possible to upgrade the internal ssd I will get myself a series s because there is just no stock of series x. I have replaced the internal disk in my xbox one x with a sshd and it worked great. BTW, you cannot clone the disk.

    The SOC is really small. Compared to the PS5/Series X, I think it means the graphics portion take the most real state.

    Would want to know what that 1 chip is on the back. Also how many memory chips are under the shroud?

      That alone chip is 2GB of DDR3 memory, is the slower pool of RAM memory for OS, apps and multitasking.
      On the other side are 4 GDDR6 chips being 8GB total, which makes the total system RAM 10GB.

      I ordered this and will see if it works after cloning my current Xbox series s NVMe to this one I ordered yesterday. I am going to clone it and theoretically it will work unless the software/hardware is designed to reject anything higher than 500gb?

    Only way I get a hard drive for my series S is if it goes on sale for 200$ and then I buy a gift card with 200$ value for 150$ lol. Not paying 300$ that's insane!
    I can only store Warzone and NBA2k21 on my internal : / But I use Adata too I've got a 1TB that has 15 games on it!

    An brazilian CZcamsr (Rato Borrachudo) did the world's first teardown of the Series X and Series S, but you guys went the extra mile to remove the heatsink! =)

      I didn’t. But I did plug that one into my PC, some interesting security features keeps it from being a simple clone project to a bigger SSD, and the market for 3022 size drives is quite small atm

      @@WccftechTv On the Xbox One you could perform an offline system update after replacing the drive to install the operating system, maybe you can do the same method here and not even need to clone it.

      @@toastyjacks if it works the same as xbox one x, which I think it might, then you cannot clone the drive, it has to be setup a specific way, I did this with my xbox one x by replacing the drive with a 1tb sshd, which worked great, I am planning to do this with my series s also

    Wow. That SSD comes out easily, I guess the only thing stopping you from upgrading it is that there’s nowhere to download the OS to put on the new drive, so you’d be left with a brick essentially?

      The Series S has a Xbox One X APU in it. Could be modified to remove the GPU component.
      They probably slapped on a cheap GPU to work alongside it or something since the Xbox One X's APU is still severely limiting.

      so will game load time be different between series x and s for games since it has slower ssd? or will it be same and gen 3 ssd speed will be kept in mind for next gen game development?

      @@MazharMalim Both consoles uses an internal PCIe 3.0 SSD, so there will be no problem, the speeds will work as advertised (2.4 / 4.8 gb/s)
      Although the console itself is PCIe 4.0, and the expandable 1TB seagate memory card is actually 4.0.
      It seems the motherboard supports up to PCIe 4.0, but they chose to use an internal PCIe 3.0 ssd.

      @@MazharMalim Nowadays the difference is pretty small between gen 4 and gen 3 in pratical terms because the PC isn't very optimized to take full advantage of these SSD's.
      But with Microsoft Direct Storage API arriving next year, you would be more future-proofed with Gen 4.
      I recommend using an smaller PCIe SSD for your system and next gen games you're playing at the moment, while you can use an larger SATA SSD to store your files, current gen games and on.
      But will take a while before games fully utilize even PCIe SSD, because most games are still being made to run on Xbox One and PS4 and old PC, so you will be good with any SSD for quite some time, at least an year or two, before any game requires gen 4 speeds.
      So I would recommend waiting for price drops, there is no actual need to use an PCIe SSD right now. Gen 4 SSD is relatively new, Intel don't even support it on their processors yet.

    You've never been able to Upgrade internal Xbox drives, you have to buy their external proprietary drives from Xbox or segate for £250 or Dollars
    Sony has always let you download system software from their website for internal drive Upgrading, since PS3 days, and even now, for ps5 you can buy ANY 3rd party NVME and put it int he expansion bay
