I'm your host -- Bailey Sarian - Zábava
As I watch more and more of Bailey’s Dark history series. I slowly start to realize the world itself is just one big intrusive thought 😂
Oh man, yeah. 😅 The world is crooked as heck.
Intrusive af
A figment of our imagination 😊
For real! Never thought about that 😆
Girl what does this even mean
Are we gonna talk about Bailey's absolutely iconic hair and butterflies? GURL I'm living for it!
😂❤that’s what I was thinking the whole time too 😂❤
She looks so pretty and magical!
What's an mk butterfly?
I came here to say this too! I wish I could pull off half the hair/ makeup looks she does. She's inspiring ✨️ 💕
@@SG-df9er I mean, she has mentioned before her family history has some high ranking masons. She has had lightning bolt background decoration, which could rep. 'lucifer's fall' as some visual allegiance shoutout. I've seen no shortage of certain handsigns from her too. Its a stacking bit of cards to look at.
I can’t believe she didn’t talk about Alice in Wonderland! It has such an interesting back story and I’d love to see a disney part 2! Some other ones with dark histories are hansel and gretel, sleeping beauty, and pinocchio.
Especially considering Carroll's questionable relationship with Alice...😮
There is a second part... Alice Through the Looking Glass. Unfortunately Disney didn't make a version of it. But you would figure any story written by a drunken mathematician would be interesting....
It’s not a folk tale. That’s for another episode.
Watch Jon Solo... he does a series called Messed Up Origins on all the Disney movies
Don't forget the jungle book! 😆 great tunes like wow. I read the original book, quite a bit different from the Disney version. Love them both
I liked Disney but my favorite relationship example was always Morticia and Gomez Adams. 😍 They were so in love and passionate about each other.
Or Jack and Sally 🥰
Or Jack and Sally 🥰
My favorite role models
Oh my gosh you are so right!!! The love and passion between the adamses is so glorious!! Every single woman's dream for real!!!
Thsts wasn't Disney
I’m here for this nostalgic butterfly Y2K look. Even Joan is slaying that look ♥️
exactlyyyy
aye, corvids are dope!
Maybe that's why I like her hair so much, throwback to high school lol
❤❤❤
I love them!
As an Indigenous person I don’t hate Disney’s portrayal of “Pocahontas”. They couldn’t tell the truth to children and their romanticized version gets kids interested in learning more about our cultures and the truth as it becomes age appropriate. Colours of the Wind will ALWAYS slap too. That song means a lot to me personally.
As a native Central American i 100% agree
It is a magical song
I was just talking about this the other day to my husband. Yes there will be inaccuracies in movies but they make them age appropriate and as they get older can learn the truth. ❤
I agree as well, as a Cherokee/Pueblo Native but, I just feel as though maybe they shouldn't have used her name, and instead just made up the name and character altogether if they were gonna fabricate the entire story.
@@stormluna5136 exactly it didn't need to have the real victims name. It's ridiculous
I grew up with the original Grimm fairy tales, and although they were dark, as a kid, I loved it 😂 in Cinderella, the stepsisters toes were chopped off, and eyes were pecked out by crows. 😳 also the little mermaid turned into sea foam
My mum used to read me these from the book that my nan bought her when she was a kid 😍
And rapunzel's bae falls down and become crippled.
I love grimm fairy tales. The reruns of the series is still a favorite of mine to watch. I've bindge watched it several times. Always learn something new each time i watch series.
I learned to read with Andersons and Grimms fairy tales. I was in love with dark stories before I even hit kindergarten. I was in gifted classes, and we got to write our own books. I wrote a horror story 😂
Same, I read the original versions first before even watching the Disney versions
Little Red was also about obeying your parents bc she was told to go straight to grandma's but 'misbehaved' by talking to the wolf and deviating to pick flowers.
I’m Chinese and in middle school we had to memorize the Mulan poem and write it from memory! It’s really well known here, and although she’s a character from a fictional story, she’s seen as a feminist cultural icon❤
@MESSAGE_Mrs_BaileySarian.Go away scammer
The myth of Mulan was a part of my women's study class in college. That story is proof that positive and strong female representation matters, even if it is fictional.
Love it ❤️
Right on!!
I love this ❤️
Bailey has taught me more than school has.
I swear! Agreed, and it's a lesson I'm more then willing to tune into!
Same ❤ her
I don't want my children to like Disney!! 😢 I'm not going to stop them but I definitely try and boycott it in my house!
I Am in Disney 5 times a month
topping the school is not that high of a bar to vault
" Don't go into the woods without your pepper spray..." ---Bailey always gives the best advice! Thanks Bailey you are the best😂❤
Shang was FINE af😂!!! I'm so glad Bailey said it!!!😂😅😂
Funny story. My animation professor worked on mulan and he said the only reason the cricket got added is because one of his coworkers drew it one day and kept leaving it on people’s desks day after day until everyone finally relented and put the cricket in the movie. They didn’t do this until mushu became more comedic. He was originally the voice of reason.
Mushu IS the voice of reason.. 🤔
I think Mushu was a little dragon, not a cricket. The cricket is in Pinocchio.
@@h.b16there is a lucky cricket in Mulan. I vaguely remember it was in a wooden cage at one point. The cricket couldn't speak but Mushu was able to understand him. I could be wrong since it's been a very long time since I watched it.
Oh yeah, I remember lolz she was like you'll never bring your family honor😂😂😂
Pleeeeeeease do a part two!!! There is sooo much dark history in Disney
YESSSSS!
This. Also.. ahahaha at the scammers tryin to scam. 😂😂
Yesss the subliminal messages
Yes please I 2nd that 😊❤
Definitely more please
Bailey trying her hardest to not just say the message of little red riding hood was avoid sketchy men who are after your body 😂
Idk why she didn't just say that lol
You should do a part two that touches on Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen (which Frozen tried to base itself on), and Rupunzel's true back story.
Tried and absolutely failed miserably to be based on at all. The Snow Queen is SUCH a better story.
As a Mom who raised kids in the 90's, your generation of movies are THE BEST, hands down. There will never be another Disney movie generation like it. And the McDonalds toys were epic!
Burger Kings too. I got The Toy story series and the six Pocahontas cups
Don’t forget the play places. Haven’t seen any for a while 😭
I was born in 86 and I completely agree with your statement.
@Michelle Carl Yes I had the beauty and the beast glasses from there when I was little.
I was just telling my daughter this like an hour ago. I think because in the 80s-90s movies were few and far between. I mean we had maybe 7 heavy hitters in all those years. So we deeply cherished each one. Now they have that many major movies in a year or 2. No time to cherish every detail. Before the next ones already in theaters
I'm from Germany and it's totally normal to tell children these brutal original stories and I never thought about it until I grew up😂😂
Because that's the original Indo European way. Common in most European peoples and their descendants. The US got soft lol
Same with France
my mom always talked abt how creepy it was that these stories were so popular & for kids... like doesn't Ariel actually die in the LM story- in Cindrella the sisters cut their feet off to fit in the shoe.. and it goes on & on... when I was a kid- when my mom married my step-dad I kept asking where his attic was & she finally asked why I kept asking- it was because I thought stepkids had to live in the attic.
Aye, I'm Scottish and we have our own folklore that doesn't pretty things up! Also, I loved Grimm's tales and Der Struwwelpeter when I was a kid, though as a thumb sucker I was slightly terrified of having my thumbs chopped off. 😂
Yeah. That’s kinda like…not surprising. I mean. Look at your history. You gassed innocent people for a leadership role in your society at the time…. Big Yikes
Thank you for talking about Pocahontas. She raised me to believe "Every rock and tree and creature, has a life, has a spirit, has a name". Always my favorite Disney character- BEST soundtrack hands down! The true story hits me in the gut every time.
Alan Menkin's soundtracks are always the best!
“Keeping the podcast on while folding the laundry.” 👀 literally what I do when I listen to Bailey.
Haha I'm folding laundry right now!
Yup I laughed when she said that as I was walking to the dryer😂
Same it's either that or while I'm eating to be honest.
Same here. Doing laundry doing dishes... Get sad when I have to vaccum lol I have to pause
Bailey looking like a real Disney princess 👑
She looks magical... and Joan Crawford! Amazing!!
It’s the adorable butterflies in her hair for me 🥹
Don’t put that on Bailey.
Yessss
she looks a lot like jasmine tbh. So pretty.
I like how Mulan is still an absolute girlboss in almost all versions of the story, dark or not!
Isn't it the only one based on a true story
Says a lot about how they portray women vs how we are
@@alexu176 pocohantas was based on a real girl, who was kidnapped and taken to Europe, where thye still have her remains and refuse to give back to her community
@@alexu176 Mulan isn't a real person.
@@alexu176 uh... Pocahontas?
@WolfanTerror it's not based off a true story. She was a stolen child and died when she was taken to britain.
The little Mermaid is my favorite, and when I was little, my mom said, "Sometimes in stories there is no happy ending. Like in the little mermaid, She does not get married... but melts away into the white foam on the sea.". Yeah, later I found out she was right.... :/
I grew up watching Elvira and crypt keeper tell their stories . I think that’s why I enjoy you so much .
Me too!
The fact that Bailey has enough courage to publicly expose all of the dirt she does…. A true queen.
Bailey doesnt have dirt 💀 it's enlightening 💖💖
@@stephanieestrada2296 oh it definitely is dirt… because it’s what the whole of society doesn’t want the general population to know (that’s why it’s not taught in the education system.) plus, haven’t you ever heard the phrase “enlightenment is a dark path” ?
Yes I really respect her research and is so spot-on because a lot of things that she talks about I had already done my research, and it's true
@baileysarian if poo 💩 ever hits the fan , hmu I got your back b!! ;) 😉
@@in_scrubs_wyoming307 not everyone knows it so she still needs credit for telling the truth about history. These are some of the stories that Ron DeSantis don't want people to know about
The butterflies in the hair is giving 90's hair clips and I LOVE IT!!!!
They’re from Amazon, I know she listed them a long time ago but they pop up on the first page usually if you search 🦋 😊
My thoughts as well, I wish they were the bouncy ones , I loved those !!!!
I remember those Bailey rocks x
They're so whimsical! She looks like a Disney princess ❤
80s hair clips
Thank you for this episode of Dark history. Can we stop for a second and praise this iconic look with butterflies and her gorgeous makeup ! Slayyyyyy 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
I thought i was the only one that gets DEEPLY affected by COLORS OF THE WIND! this was the first movie that i saw in a cinema but didnt give no mind with it cause i was small. But now that im an adult the song lyrics really gets in to me. Lovely song lyrics that will hit your right in the heart.
I was deeply saddened by the true story of "Pocahontas" I loved her so much, the music was amazing... Colors of the wind and Just around the riverbend were my favorites.
That poor girl was tormented her whole life after being kidnapped and her family missed her so much... My heart aches for her..
Colours of the Wind is an incredibly beautiful and meaningful song.
yeah, it would have been amazing to see an indigenous stories or myths used instead of a whitewashed romanticized version of a tragedy
Joan needs costumes for every episode! She’s fabulous!!
She has something on most episodes.
I second that!! 🎉
She does!
She needs an insta 🥺
The amount of effort cutting construction paper and creating magic for Joan is just chefs kiss 😂❤
Please do more Dark History on Disney !!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
37:23 Yes! Please do a Dark History on Matoaka (Pocahontas). Actually, can you do one on the Pamunkey Tribe? The Pamunkey Tribe is where Matoaka is from, and even though they were one of the first ones to have contact with settlers, they weren't recognized as an official Native American tribe by America until July 2, 2015!
My whole childhood being a lie:
Bailey being the one telling me so it makes it ok:
Yes 😂
But also, no ;-;
@@KoharuUchihaK I get it. Nothing is interesting anymore. I do dig her stories of things that have went on but stop with the cut Disney bs. I enjoy nothing anymore. It’s all so gross. Maybe it’s true but storytelling is dead.
The FCC passed law that allows the news to lie to us. Keep digging and learning.
Finally a Disney episode! Hair and makeup are BEAUTIFUL! Love you Bailey! 🖤🖤
‼️‼️
Fun fact: little red riding hood is actually a story about losing your virginity 👀
That's what she said...
Pocahontas was her mother’s name that her father would often call her. Her mother passed away shortly after giving birth to Amonute. Her father called her by her late mother’s name because she reminded him most of her
Bailey should do dark history on nursery rhymes..
Yesss! I agree!!! ❤
ahhhhhh yessssssssss
Oh, there’s a kids book called “Love You Forever”. I used to LOVE that book, until I learned the true meaning 😱
@@heathercottrill3505 as a woman who has experienced miscarriages, the story behind the book makes me love and cherish the book more. An amazing way to heal... giving a beautiful story for other families to have, inspite of the family he could never have. It's sad, but idk if I'd consider it a dark history. Just his beautiful reason for writing that sweet book. I've read it to all my babies who came earthside & always will. So much love was put into that book.
@@heathercottrill3505 😮😮 what’s the meaning?!?! It was my lullaby as a toddler….
"I wanted him to tie me up and make a man out of me" 😂😂😂 FREAKING DEAD!!! Absolutely lost it at that moment. Love you Bailey, thanks for always teaching us some new and messed up things!

Bailey amazing story telling as always. Moat people don't realize that a lot of Disney's of even fairytale stories have a dark beginning!
The way I love Bailey, her jokes and references!! She's just amazingly hilarious 😂😂
I just realized that Pocahontas 2 comes from her being kidnapped… you ABSOLUTELY have to do a Dark History on her story 🥺
It would be amazing!!
The true story of Pocahontas is awful what happened to her n her ppl as are a lot of Disney stories changed into a kids cartoon same as kid’s nursery songs some are so dark when you look up where they come from 😮
😘
Agreed! please do a video on just Pocahontas
I was living in Virginia when the movie came out and our school was horrified of the movie and after the first weekend our school decided to teach every class what really happened and kept emphasizing that Disney’s movie was a fairytale based on true stories 😊
I always feel like I'm taking a cool college course and Bailey is an awesome Professor, she doesn't even give homework lol 😂
I'd recommend her.
She would have the best reviews on rate my professor
@Julissa DeJesus For real! Her class would be so popular that there'd be a list to get in. (If people are lucky!) No one will be dropping the course for sure hahaha. She'd be getting the best reviews
@@truthseeker1954 100% she's an infinity/10 haha

also when she said "colors of the wind" makes her cry I felt seen 😭
Girl, the first song I wanted to learn on my keyboard was colors of the wind! I LOVE that song. To this day I play it and tears start.
I loved it so much when I was younger
For real!!! It's such a masterpiece 😢
Me too I actually like the dark version more
@@pamelaapgar8184 What dark version?!
The children's version of Little Red Riddinghood always seemed to me to be about being weary of strangers.
I wasnt raised on fairytales. The closest I came was Chaucer. My parents read Shakespeare and his ilk to me until I was taught to read. Then I was given English Literature, the Romantics (no not Harlequin Romances), everything translated to English, of course. Once I became a mother I read every fairytale I could get my hands on to my kids. I have every Disney animated movie on VHS then DVD when my grandson came along.
I’m going to need Bailey to make a part two to this. Disney has PG’d so many other really dark stories.
I agree! I would love for a part 2 of this.
@@StressfulTsundere Exactly! Like I’m going to need her to do Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella, and The Little Mermaid.
All of these movies are rated G!!
This hair and make up 😍 Bailey is the dark historical fairy we all needed
I've certainly told my fair share of fairy tales to my own children, not only to entertain them, but to try to instill the 'right and wrong' that I felt they needed to learn. As an adult, I do find the origins of these fairy tales to be very interesting. Now that my kids are all grown up, they do, too. They're old enough now to look into the truths themselves, and I'm proud that my babies have grown up and are not simply accepting everything that's verbally 'spoon-fed' to them by the media or whatever as absolute truth. They look into it themselves.
Hey, it was the 90’s nobody was offended by everything yet.
Early crew where you at???!!! 😘
Right heeeerrrrrrree
right here!😊

Sorry I’m late. I’m here!
Right here gyal
I love the jammies. It’s like we’re all having a slumber party with Bailey.
Would love to have her dark history pj's with the dark history patch on it🎉
That’s what I always say lol
For some reason I thought this would be about the crazy shenanigans that actually goes on at Disney 😂
Me tooooo! Dissapointing🤣
I did a dive into the original stories when I was 12 (a LOT of years ago) found The Brothers Grimm. Changed my perspective and led me to Edgar Allen Poe.
My favorite part of this entire video was learning that little Bailey used to throw her Barbies at the ceiling fan. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while.
Same 😂
I did this. 😂😂 Thinking back on it made me think something was wrong with me 😂
Same!!! 😂😂😂😂
Russian roulette for kids😆
I never had a Barbie or a ceiling fan, but I probably would have done that too!😄
I cry at Mulans song Reflection!! Like why did I not listen to that more as a kid! Could have changed my whole life. But my dads been sick for a while and a couple weeks ago I bought the DVD for the kids to watch in the car and the part of the song where she’s asking her ancestors to “Keep my father standing tall” and I uncontrollably start weeping. Had to pull over and cry lol
Reading that made me want to cry 😭
Hope things are better now.
I hope your dad gets better.
I hope your father has recovered. That comment definitely made me want to cry. I am sorry your father isn’t well
I can watch her all day !!!
Have you ever seen Into The Woods? The song the wolf (Johnny Depp) sings and the song Red sings after being saved are very suggestive and ra*ey. The song Jack sings about the giants in the sky is like that too.
This showed up on my feed right after I just saw the new little mermaid trailer for the first time so Joan’s outfit is PERFECT. 🧜🏽♀️
Careful Joan is black😂😂😂 so outrage
I really thought you were gonna go into the real Disney dark secrets/rumors like how Walt had himself frozen, or was in league with the nazis and a few crazy other things
Right my poor mom who has dementia asked me if I ever thought he was really going to be unfrozen…if they find a cure for cancer. I had forgotten about that until she asked.
Love the show Miss Bailey!!! My husband’s family actually has a direct lineage to “Pocahontas” through the English side, but I can assure you they don’t know that version! Thank you for digging in and sharing! You Rock hard!!! ❤
Just reinforces all of the reasons for kicking Disney to the curb. Thank you for shedding more light - so cringey!
I took a class on original Fairy Tales in college and it was my favorite class of all time 🧚🏻♂️
oh that sounds like a cool class!
I actually read the original versions to my kids. Then one day my daughter comes home upset because her teacher asked her to discuss Rapunzel and she freaked her group out about the prince getting his eyes plucked out😂.
I sub in special education and was told to do the fairy tale day, I played that original story.. I didn't even notice until we got to that part. Thankfully none seemed to notice, i just fast forwarded
That is HORRIBLE for a kid to do. She should see someone, you too, seriously.
@@user-pz7qv6ey4z she was retelling the story, there is nothing wrong with the child
I'm Polish and I grew up watching movies based on the original stories not the Disney versions and I definitely freaked out some other kids lol. Some German movie studio made a whole series of movies from Brothers Grimm's and Andersen's stories. You could probably find them online somewhere

I am MOVED by Colors of the Wind!!!!! But I didn’t realize the importance and truth of the song until I was an adult. I will definitely jam this song after this video 😂
I've never felt connected to Disney the way so many others of my (and pretty much every) generation seem to be, partly because we just didn't watch those movies at home when I was a kid. But Bailey can make me want to watch literally ANY subject she covers because she always makes it so fun and interesting!! She's also amazing inspiration for any content creator (and makeup enthusiast lol)!!
Amonute was not "Pocahontas" only name though. She also had a more private name of Matoaka.❤️ Though I am not from the same tribe as Amonute as I am Choctaw, Yakoke Fehna Hoke (thank you so much) Bailey for bringing the truth to her name and life🍃

I grew up with a white mother in a white neighborhood (my father is Native & passed when I was 4) & Pocahontas was (& still is) my favourite Disney movie. It made me feel seen. I got bullied a lot in grade school. I don't like Disney at all however this movie will always have a spot in my heart. I think it's important to teach children the true story even if you still watch these movies with your kids. They are separate stories at this point and both have their place. It's horrible what happened to her though, may she rest in peace.
I don’t know what was the meaning about pocahantas but I loved both Milan an pochantas
Hope your not saying you were bullied because of your father’s ethnicity. Because you don’t look native. Also when I was young as an ethnic person I didn’t get bullied for it.
Rest in peace ☮️🕊️ pray 🙏🙏🕊️ 📲
BAILEEEYYYY!!!!! I’m right there with you on “Colors of the Wind”. Pocahontas is everything to me despite how messed up her real story is
I’m from Virginia, and the story of “Pocahontas” that was taught yo us in school (before the Disney movie even came out) was similar to the storyline they ran with….so it’s not necessarily disneys fault per se…that “happy” version has been around for a loooooooooong time
We were also taught a "disney" version of Pocahontas in school. Her story was very dark and sad.
Can you please do a dark history on the tradition of engagement rings?? ❤️❤️
That’s part of her episode on the dark history of marriage.
I thought pebble and the penguin was why we do shiny stones hahahahaha
They were literally just teaching my second grader fairy tails in school this month and she dressed up as the bad wolf! Now Bailey's telling us all about the dark history on it.. Preach!!
I bet she was the most adorable big bad wolf the worlds ever seen ❤
Omgshhh the hair, the makeup…it’s fairy Bailey!! So beautiful!! U look like a real life fairy princess!! U r so pretty with no makeup, but then this look, with the hair, beautiful fairy princess 🥰🌸🦋🌺

What struck me about Aladdin even as a kid, is that Jasmine would never be wearing her skimpy bikini outfit if it was even slightly historically accurate 💀
But the place in the film isn't a real place either

I'm indigenous, Cree (canadian) and I wasn't allowed to watch pocahontas when I was growing up because of how problematic it was and now I feel like I might watch it with my kids but I'll be using it to educate on Colonization, MMIW, the sexualization of indigenous women anndddd the true story about matoka
Yesss
I was taught by that movie as well we are Cherokee and my mother watched it with me and told me the real story about it. I still like that song tho lol
I thought I was going crazy thinking she was saying Matoaka wrong the whole time 😂
My favorite is the story of Sun, Moon & Talia (Sleeping Beauty) it's really messed up but I love messed up stories.
As a full bred Chinese-American I am so happy to tell you that Mulan is in fact based on a true story. My mom has told me that she is a legend and her story of bravery is a tale everybody knows. She even has beautiful statues in her honor. Love u Bailey ♥️
Hey Bailey! I am a teacher based in South Africa and watching your videos encourage me to improve my teaching style. I love your videos!
As for Disney, it's heartbreaking to see that it's all dark.
Think of them more like Greek tragedies meant to teach
Sleeping beauty also has a dark history behind it.. Mulan is one of my favorite Disney princesses. Did not know about the dark history behind it.. Thanks bailey ❤
WE need a hair tutorial because that hair is giving me life!!!!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽😭😭
I did a book report on Amonute in the 4th grade!!!! (I’m 22 btw) there was a book in my southern elementary school library on her!!! We had to do a book report on a biography, and I picked her! (Tbh she was my second choice… someone snagged Amelia Earhart before me… WHICH IS COOL BECAUSE WE KNOW SO MUCH MORE NOW!!!🥰) I was so proud to tell everyone Disney F’d up, and that she ended up with a different John by force! We deserved to know the truth!!!
