A lap comparison between Verstappen's last two poles in Austria #f1 #formula1 #austriangp #f12022 #maxverstappen #redbullracing #formula12022 #comparison
not bad....he could go more deeper and aggressive into the corners and get out earlier on the power in 2021vs 2022 where he uses a fraction less of steering and is a tad bit later on the power. Really shows the difference between wing aero and ground effect on these cars. Thank you for the comparison!
Man the thing is Rb16B was a beast in terms of aerodynamics the whole car was better than the merc just because of its aero which contributed a lot I read somewhere that the rb16b was so reactive the steering was great in that car whereas as we see in rb18 its a new car the concept has changed a lot and race by race they re making it good enough to challenge the Ferrari
@@yodukenukem ehh not really. The second half of the season the merc was better. It was about 50-50 overall. But from Brazil onward, the merc was another level.
only slight part of the difference but track limits were tighter in 2022. specially the last two corners in 2021 you had to stay in touch with the kerb and you see him running wide a lot while in 2022 you had to keep touching the white line
The 2020 cars were full seconds faster than 2017, the first year of its regulations generation. The current 2022 are about on pace with 2017, as well as being the first year of this generation
@@hades17081997 sadly we lost one second in 2019, we lost 3 second in 2021, we lost at least a second in 2022 and were going to lose another second in 2023

@@pinntaoo You're insane, 2021 cars were as fast as 2019 cars. 2022 is a bit slower than both. You made It looks like a 10s difference lol not that much bro
You can definitely see the extra weight of the 2022 car, the 2021 car looks super twitchy in comparison but is being pushed much harder into corners even exceeding limits and requiring corrections. Not bad considering the expected 4 second difference in just the 1st year
I think the twitchiness is down to exactly how you put it, pushing far harder into corners. These 22 cars are so different in downforce generation that I don't think the drivers are yet pushing the cars to the real limits yet like they were in 2021 with the previous generation. It still amazes me though how they throw it through the last few corners, that takes some serious balls.
the car is THAT MUCH slower than last year, and on top of that, the 2022 lap was really clean. the 2021 lap waas scruffy, lots of corrections, missed apex at turn 3...
I've always felt like the 2022 cars were too heavy and lacked aerodynamics. If they allowed higher noses (like they did until 2013) and lowered the minimum weight, I think the cars would probably be faster and we'd still have closer racing
@@Jluna16 teams are always struggling to hit the minimum weight. Having a lower weight also means having less aerodynamic components. Red Bull obviously wants to fit as many aerodynamic components while still having the lowest weight possible, which is hard
@@Ricky911_ yea but its not as easy as just lower the minimum weight you would have to change the whole regulations and concept of the car to do so, make them smaller, lose the hybird system, take away crash structuresect , Their is a reason these cars weight what they weight its not because f1 wants heavy cars
@@Jluna16 of course Is because F1 wants, ls writen on the regulations lol, if teams wanted they could do a car that wheigths 600Kg, but the stupid reglament makes them More and More heavy
@@thesucker2002 lol the cars where actually going to be lighter but the teams told the FIA that it was it was impossible to hit that mínimum weight with the current regulations so they raised it, and here you come saying they can make the cars weight 600kg 😂 yea maybe with the 90’s regs
Last year's Red Bull had very strong front end which Verstappen likes very much. RB18 is understeery cause of weight, new tyres, ground effect and all. Compared to that, F1-75 is strong at front and has unstable rear like Charles and Max prefers, reason why Ferrari is quick in quali this year
@@tommykalamakis I think that is a lot of difference. You can notice how max have to attack more the pianos as probably the 2022 car have less downforce and is heavier too so it can't turn as fast as 2021 one.
@@philippczeskleba3988 that's for sure and downforce takers too. I barely remember the percentage of downforce loss Just chasing another car. I think it was 40 or 50% of downforce loss. The overheat was also a problem during a chase.
It's actually not. See even if there is one bit of tyre on the white line it's not a track limits violation. And Verstappen did exactly that. But there is a violation at the last turn in the 2021 pole lap. So the 2022 pole lap is a pretty clean lap, but the 2021 pole lap is not the cleanest(Written by a Sir Lewis Hamilton Fan).
