Vs Hamilton, that's worth the comparison.
Me too man
indeed man
Please do a Russell vs Hamilton lap comparison, it was extremely close!
And please tell everybody that in a sport where miliseconds matter, the white and blue car is 2 seconds slower.
@@rodolfomagdaleno1663 what’s your point?
@@WopJr that Russel drove better than hamilton?
they didnt get pole
Such a great lap, he has an amazing feeling for where the grip is.
An absolute master in the wet
He is amazing in wet conditions
yeah was great tho i think george was even better today :)
Max fanboy but indeed Russel masterclass
remember Turkey 2020 spun thrice...
I love the different lines Max takes here compared to the racing line in the dry.
It's because the rubber reduces the grip in rain. He takes this line to avoid the rubber on some parts
late brake, slow mid, straight and fast exit, at least how I saw it.
Brazil 2016 😉
@@andre_star7776 Hamilton and Russel didnt do...
@@timmetjecoronel9545 Everyone does. Some just do it more than others. Dry racing line has all kinds of rubber and oil which gets slippery in wet. It gets washed off after a while if it's pouring down like crazy, but a qualy session isn't long enough.

Max’s car control is insane
My left ear is a 1.6L turbocharged V6. My right ear is a straight-cut, semi-automatic, seamless shift 8-speed transmission.
Opening lap - Bottas hits Russell who hits Verstappen . . . .British commentators "Hamilton proves yet again he is The Magician and the master of wet!"

an insane lap from max overshadowed by russel in p2
No, not overshadowed
Lando's performance in Q1 and Q2 was also overshadowed, dude drove out of his mind and praised by many just to be relatively forgotten about because he crashed without setting a time and because of an incredible lap from George. Honestly there are way more people talking about his crash than those praising his pace and potential pole, which is kinda understandable, but still...
@@kripanshmishra yes overshadowed
@@g2fiora lol, you do realize that Hamilton and Verstappen weren't fully pushing in Q1 and Q2?
Nope! Not at all! Still a massive three tenth off…
You can see how he doesnt hit the apex on purpose to find more grip. He used the same tactic in Brazil 2016
They all do it....
@@barbarooza8408 Watch Hamilton and Russel lap. They hit all apex in s2

Alternative title: Your Belgium GP race winner for 2021.
the amount of confidence at that speed in the rain ... savage
The amount of grip coming out of sector 2 at the start of the back straight at around 1:35 was absolutely glorious to behold it looked like he was gonna get a snap of oversteer and slide into the gravel but instead the tires dug deeper in and he rocketed out of the corner
Such a great balance between violent attack and control. Love that from Max !! 🦁🦁🦁
What a lap from Max, and those downshifts were🔥🥵
What a superb lap from Max
I’m still fully confident he will become world champion by seasons end
🦁🦁🦁
Spa is such a beautiful track. The layout, elevations, the beautiful scenery.
the hardest the best and the most important pole of max in 2021
Looks difficult out there. Max had some crazy snaps and the rear of the car looked ready to step out many time. Drivers were avoiding the aprons at all cost. Great lap
I’m surprised he missed that many apex(s) and still went fastest. But he seemed very solid at putting the power down.
@@numaerislam9409 that was faster than the apex. There was more grip at his line
@@numaerislam9409 that's the wet line. He wasn't missing apex, it's was deliberately done. The rubber on the apex is more slippery and the wet line is different from the dry line.
@@dsar8727 Also a wider line = less steering angle = more power can be put down without spinning the rears
He’s driving with low downforce, so yeah. Makes me nervous for tomorrow though; having to do this a lot of times..
How'd he not lose it at 1:05?? Lightning reflexes!
I'd be so freaking scared after that, I'd just slowly pull over the car and wait for the rain to end. 😳

simply simply loveleh
I love that whistle the cars have this year
They always had it. But previously they didn't mix in the gearbox whine for most cars. For some reason Renault on-board footage always had it.
"Simply simply lovleh" - Max Verstappen
The only time I’m more concerned about the 2nd place qualifying lap than the first. Where did that time come from?
Heavy downforce setup, perfect for qualifying in these conditions. Not so much for the race though.
the track
@@reisanibal1 but it's supposed to be rain there tomorrow too
There's a lot that can go into a lap like that. Talent is one of course. Then you have things like tire temperature and downforce setup, which are also critical.
@@reisanibal1 Russell was 5kph quicker in terms of straight line speed thank Max Verstappen, he stood 3rd overall in top speed. I don't think it's high downforce ;)
Max saving it so gracefully at 1:05 does something to me.
Verstappen is focused on wining this season. He’ll for sure deserve it.
It's weird how the engine sound is in stereo, like the main growl is on the left, and on the right it's like a whistling sound. I wonder what that's about?
Perhaps the location of the camera and microphone? They appear to be on the left side of the car.
@@StefanDijkstra that's what I was going to say. Turbo (whistle) should be clearest thru the center hoop inlet. Therefore, hearing it on the right side more prominently makes sense.
@@MeltingRubberZ28 the whistle is the sequential gearbox, not the turbo
Lame mixing? The left side one is clearly close to the engine, while the rights side one has to be on the gearbox to pick up its whine without the engine drowning it out.
@@MeltingRubberZ28 That's definitely not the turbo, it's straight-cut gear whine. Just take note of the pitch always changing as the driver shifts. You can't really hear the turbo over all that engine noise. Only faintly on external recordings...
1:06 have you see that? Man that was crazy 🥵

Looking at it from POV Max had some close calls on this lap!
Everyone : Russell on pole
Max : hold my beer
Why did Christian not said: “And that is the racewin Max Verstappen, well done!”
Bottas and Hamilton noting that finding tyre temp was one of their issues. Makes sense when the track is this wet. Mega lap from Max.
Bodes well for lap 1 for them then…
The mercs always struggle to get their tyres up to operating temperature
yep, DAS was really important for them in Qualifying
@@rafifdzaky yeah we just forgot about it after it was declared that they can use that until 2020

@@hoya1178 He’s probably here to enjoy Max’s qualifying lap and also comment that he would like to see George’s lap even more? Just a wild guess though.
@@hoya1178 I did read his comment, and it says that he would like to see Russels lap more than he would like to see Max’s lap. It literally says that.
And it makes sense, since his comment is on a a video of qualifying result on an account for F1, that implies that like most of us here he (or she) is an F1 fan. And I think most F1 fans would argue that what George did today is extremely interesting.

We want George's onboard!!!!!
Verstappen is a genius because, he drive, in the rain, outside the line of the track!
Not a perfect lap, filled with wider lines and the odd twitch but still managed a sub-2 minutes in the wet. Mad Max.
@János Elek George had a different line through some of these turns though
@@GlyntTheCat Max's lines were better, and faster. Read the other comment thread, that's what everyone's saying...
The wide lines are mostly on purpose. Not everyone can find that grip off the racing line in the wet. Max showed time and again he can.
