    Brick was wrong side of wheel, the danger is the bike rolling forward off the side stand so block the front of the wheel. Or tie the side stand to the front forks with a bungie.

      Noted Lumpy, weirdly however when I tried this without the block whenever it wanted to move it went backwards not forward. I think perhaps the side stand foot is raised up and not making contact with the floor properly. From now on I'll apply the brake lever lock so it can't go forward or backwards. Your not the first to say the block was in the wrong place. Thanks!

    What a natty little tool makes it much easier to lube your chain than pushing the bike a few feet at a time.

      My thoughts exactly Ian. I hate doing the pushing your bike faff. This of course, is still more work than popping it on a centre stand like my Meteor 350, but that's the state of play we find ourselves in.

    I use a piece of wood under swing arm
    Front wheel against wall so it can't roll off side stand.

    I have seen similar but but this is probably the best I've seen. Excellent device and good demo.
    If you are in a spot without one, I have seen someone lean the bike left over the side stand and secure the bike to a tree with a cargo strap. That was only a TW200, I don't know how big you could go with that.

      Thanks very much Tim. This bike is 200+ kg do I'm a bit skeptical messing about with it. It's also running tubeless tyres which is a problem for touring without the tool or any method as you describe. I think I'll have a practice with this and some tyre levers and end up taking spare tubes with me! Cheers, Sean

      Yes Luddite, as silly as it sounds I had to practice with this to get the right mounting point, so it wouldnt move then you jacked it up. In the notch in the swing arm it's nice and snug. I hope other owners will find this useful. Cheers, Sean

    Hi Sean and Suzie, purchased one of these and use it on my Speed 400 - works great for chain maintenance (chain's on r/h side also). I chock both sides of the front wheel and lock the front brake! Thanks for the video and recommendation.

    Great little gadget. Many years ago my riding instructor used to tilt his bike onto the side stand and hold the bike up with his shoulder while lubing the chain. This device would have made it easy for him but probably would have taken longer - he did it so effortlessly. I’ve done it my self with a much lighter bike but he had a V Twin.

      Trying to be transparent, it took a few goes fiddling to learn where to seat it and to remember to lock the front wheel. First attempt on gravel road with big potholes wasn't clever 😂. Now I know what I'm doing with it, very happy. I tried to give any BSA owner a clear guide so they can use it from the start... Thanks Wayne.

      @@MindfulMotorcyclist I have two bikes; a 2018 Moto Guzzi V7 Milano (with center stand) and a 2023 Suzuki SV650 without...but it is liquid cooled (I live in the Mojave Desert) ...and without major surgery to the exhaust system you can't fit a center stand. I will buy a BSA the minute they are introduced to North America.

    Wish I’d known about one of these before I bought a paddock stand which I only use for oiling the chain… Still might come in handy when out and about.

    When you get a flat you call your road service for pickup. Nobody is going to replace a tube on the side of the road 🛣️ anymore.

    Can park front wheel up against a wall when at home.
    Most center stands cost $500-$600nz not cheap I use a paddock stand at home but that little jack be handy if got panniers.

      Thanks RR, appreciate the comment. Sadly BSA won't make a CC as an optional extra. For chain lube this is now my go-to. I do have paddock stand at home for my track bike but they take up a lot of room tbh. Of course on the road this is portable and convenient. Thanks 😊

    Impressive piece of kit I would say well worth buying even if you just want to raise your front wheel which is sometimes necessary one thing occurred to me and that is if their is a weight limit of any sort ? although it would push the weight onto the side stand I guess when doing the back wheel 👌👍

      Hi Crumbly, thanks for the comment. There is no weight limit for the jack stated, though it is designed for Adventure bikes so I'm sure it can take a fair bit. I think owing to the fact you can raise it by hand without hurting your palm there can't be that much weight on it. As you said most will be on the side stand and some through the front wheel. I expect with a robust weighing scales you could find out. Bikes total weight is 200kg, so I'm sure scales will be rated for a large human perhaps 130kg. Of the three contact points it'd surprise me if any exceeded that sort of number. Most surprised the jack works when you've got the exhaust and drive chain down there in the way! Cheers, Sean

    It's great to see a small company add a personal touch with a note like that. Do you think there's anything on the BSA that would prevent the fitting of 'bobbins' to use paddock stands?

      Hi Mark, I believe it's not possible to fit bobbins to the BSA as the spindle has a large nut on the end. A few companies now manufacturer adaptor plates that have small holes drilled in them to facilitate paddock stands. I actually do have two paddock stands in the shed, very useful they are to, but this little thing I can take away with me. Right I'm off to oil the chain! Cheers, Sean

      Wow Malcolm I suppose this is an option. I didn't have it down as a centre stand replacement but a plan b if you bike cannot accept one. That said I was reading RIDE yesterday and I noticed a Suzuki centee stand option is £276 on their 800RE adventure bike, not cheap at all! Cheers, Sean

      Well that’s a no brainer the Suzuki 800 re has tubeless tyres so don’t need a centre stand only need to lube the chain so this universal jack will do the job

    Yes, that brick should be in FRONT of the front wheel to stop the bike rolling forwards off the
    side stand!

      Thanks Raymond, you are the third person to comment as such... that makes sense BUT and it's a big but, when I trialled this the bike rolled backwards and off the jack. Of course not much danger of the bike falling over as side stand still in place just if you had the wheel off it would be a pain etc. I think next time brake lever lock so bike cannot move forward or back.     Hey, im the guy that placed the decat on the BSA before you. I had really lean mixture on the exhaust and doing the ecu at night the decat turned worrying red.
    I put back the bike on stock until warranty passes away and Ill fit too the new fuelx lite from hitchcocks in a far future.
    Would you like to try to let it idle 10-15min at night to see if you have the same tube glow issue?

      Hello again, I haven't tried to let it ideal. We have neighbours and to let it run at night for 15 mins would disturb them. If I go for a night ride I will check. I think removing the cat will cool the exhaust because it will allow hot gases to exit more quickly. However, perhaps the stock downpipe is thicker and therefore does not get as hot. I am also going to try the fuel X, not only will it richen the mixture but it will also stop any stop start snatch on the throttle. It is 2 months until I can visit Hitchcocks however...       @@MindfulMotorcyclist i understand. The problem i have found that when I pot the decat the mixture is leaner than stock, with more airflow but same fuel the combustión is hotter on the exhaust. Ill let you know once I apply fuelx

      That's funny as when I tried this without the clock whenever it wanted to move it seemed to roll backwards? Your not the first to mention to put it in front however. Cheers, Sean

      @@MindfulMotorcyclist It will want to push forward off the side stand. If it rolls back it will just scrape the floor. I put mine on full left head on to a wall. I never thought of using steering lock though. So that's a good idea. To be 100%, choc front and back.

      @@MindfulMotorcyclist An off-road or proper adventure bike (i.e. not a behemoth like the GS) would hardly ever have a centre stand more's the pity. They should really come with a trail jack attached somewhere on the frame like a good old bicycle pump used to.

      😂 you can also use the brake lever lock or as others have said a bungee between the side stand and the wheel or park the bike against a wall. Be inventive! Brick only used for demo purposes 😂

    Is is bad that manufacturers are allowed to sell bikes without a centre stand, years ago they were standard with a side stand being optional, it is like selling a car without a spare wheel, wake up manufacturers.

      Thanks for the comment. My dad recently bought a secondhand X3 and was surprised to see no spare wheel. Being a seasoned motorist he's buying a spare wheel so not to rely on that tyre sealant in a can thing! On the bike front I think it's a scam to charge extra for centre stands and heated grips etc. Certainly to charge £300 ish for each when you can buy the grips for £11 on aliexpress!

    It's quite a clever tool, but it honestly would be a whole lot easier if all bikes just had a center stand like they used to. Chain drive sucks, chain drive and no center stand really sucks, but even so there are more chains and fewer center stands than ever on today's motorcycles, why do we accept it?

      I agree, I do like this tool but I'd have like BSA to include a CC as standard on this bike. That wouldn't been just the ticket. I suspect someone didn't have the conversation during the design phase when the ABS pump was placed where it is. I don't mind chain drive on a retro model, I suspect shaft would look weird on a BSA.       I guess its horses for courses, if you do your maintenance at home in a heated garage, bike on a mat with all your tools neatly displayed on a shadow board then of course this isn't the correct application. You'd have a paddock stand or bike lift. This tool is designed to be used on the road. There are three points of contact (the side stand, the front wheel and the jack). Provided the front wheel is not mobile or bike against a wall as others have said I see no reason why I wouldn't use it. Unlike a car we are not working underneath the vehicle. This is just used to raise the rear wheel 1cm so we can lubricate the chain. Thanks
