  • After now making the decision to personally invest in a 2023 BSA Goldstar the time for negativity and questioning every marketing decision the company has made since 2021 has come to an end. It's now time to give the 'new on the block' re-invented brand some support and start sharing the love that many of us have for this lovely classic motorcycle...

    It's good to see you getting on with the BSA, i have one with the reworked radiator guard on it. No one mentions that the bike has an immobiliser fitted as standard on this bike there are lots of nice touches on it.
    I see the old chestnut of it being based on a different bike produced by classic legends is still trotted out, yet if you look at pictures of said bike it is clearly evident that the frame, clocks, tank, forks etc are different.

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes I had waited a long time to pull the trigger on the BSA, in hindsight perhaps too long. I was cautious because of the online stories (FB group) that people are always referring to. Didn't know there was an immobiliser, what does it need? A small transponder?

    • @gordonyoung3668
      @gordonyoung3668 Před 10 měsíci

      The immobiliser is in the ignition key this talks to the ignition switch which communicates with the immobiliser. It is mentioned in the handbook and there is a warning light for it in the display, this is a good feature and the insurance company knew about this when i was insuring it.

    Hi Sean, thank you kindly, friend; great topics. But, wow....beautiful machine. I saw and drooled over them at the bike show with my young son. Even he, a young sports-mad youngster, thought it looked fabulous. It even ranked, quite astonishingly, as 'cool' to a teenager, apparently! I didnt take your unveiling particularly negatively; just realistically honest. Hence, I am glad you are so evidently delighted with your purchase. It is probably just beyond my finances but still, I think, fabulous value. But only if the styling is absolutely your desire and the modern facilities(with the lack of old bike necessities, drawbacks and maintenance) are within your capacity to overlook exact original authenticity. I think most would agree that the BSA has done a sterling job of dep.oying new reliable, efficient, compliant and fuss-free technology, whilst harnessing all of the originality to satisfy most folk. You have my envy, sir! I did like the 'bit of chat...skip to some riding & sound...skip to chat...etc. Nice touch. Dont pay too much concern to passing traffic, just stop, continue and then edit out; its not as intrusive as you think, friend. OK, so violent thug attempts to threaten his way bullying a v.ogger and photographer into submission, eh? Well, lets see him(and the paranoid door-slammers) fail, almightily...I will be fi ding the online prescence of that company you mentioned, signing up to their feeds and links and taking a big interest in seeing them shared to everyone I know. I dont think(if 'Biker-Pics' are ok with it) anyone would object to you including the odd picture on your feed of their sterling work. It wou.d be nice to see that very nice bike of yours, photographed by a pro at the top of their game. Just a thought. As for the thug.....'as thee sew, so shall, thee reap, brother'; there is always someone, somewhere that is bigger and harder than you; good luck explaining your way out of your attitude when you meet them. Loo,ing forward to chec,ing out those panniers, friend. As an aside, would you consider putti g a litt.e footage of the BSA going up and down the gears and in traffic, please? I am addicted to the sounds and would love to hear the BSA flexing her revs. Also, has Suzie spent time as pillion on your BSA yet, Sean? If so, what are her thoughts as a pillion? Equally, does the low seat height make the BSA a viab.e machine for her to wznt to ride, when she pushing her training on? Oh, the name......in appreciation of our famous environmentalist that goes to all of her international seminars via private jet, rather than making environmentally-friendly 'Teams' calls'. How about Greta Goldberg?! (plenty of g's there, friend!) Take care and please extend our best wishes to your photographer friend and his colleagues at BikerPics.😮

      That is how I would describe the BSA. It is like going to a simpler time, when technology and power were not the be all and end all. Yes it has flaws but I've mentioned them in many previous videos so now I'm just going to enjoy the bike. I recently read a comment from a chap who has done 6000 miles in a huge tour down to Southern Europe on his (also a highland green like mine), not for videos or anything just for enjoyment. Imagine that, a tour of that distance with a couple of simple throw over retro panniers, the classic bike rack I have fitted, a single thumping away under you and a dream. I should like to do something similar when time allows. Nice of you to support BikerPics, I also felt they should have some encouragement and actually purchased 3 images from them at £12.50/each, I mean they were great images but also it is nice to support such people. The thug, well all I can say is that that kind of venom and hatred doesn't come from a happy place, goodness knows what he's been through but I suspect it would need a lot of therapy! Sure, when I am next out on the BSA I will record a segment on the bike, it is only 5 speed but goes into gear nicely and I have no problems with it. The only thing is I am still running the bike in and so I am at 40-60mph until a 1000miles on the odo, which is around 500 miles left to go, so the fully noise might not be apparent just yet. Regarding Suzie's placement on the pillion seat... or rather the same seat of the BSA, she likes the long flat seat, just needs a jacket to go with the bike, her sporty pink textile jacket isn't very BSA so I have ordered her a few jackets to try out prior to selecting one. She will be going on the back however and she has said the seat is very comfortable... I'm enjoying the bike and honestly no regrets... Thanks George, appreciated as always.

    Morning Sean, most of the roadside photographers I have come across, have signs before the locations, in both directions. If people don’t want their photo taken, then a simple thumb down would be sufficient. That particular guy is obviously just a sad, angry person looking for a vent………and unfortunately it was you and the photographer who got it this time. The law of averages say, he will vent to the wrong person one day, and maybe learn from that 🤞. Glad you are enjoying the Goldie, nice video my friend.

    I tested the same BSA as you from Midwest Moto and thought it was a very nice bike to ride . I understand It was actually based on a 350 that was already sold in India so not really a ground up creation , more a cosmetic exercise with a bigger engine squeezed into the frame ( not quite fitting the narrative the company go with )
    I hope they do well too , I certainly enjoyed riding it and the engine and box are well proven . Can't agree with you about the warning lights in the headlamp though, I'm shorter than you so that may be a factor but I found them impossible to see clearly All the best with yours, really hope you have a good experience with it👍 ...BTW I know Worcester well I went to Kings School as a lad , lovely City .

      Agreed. Although it's not as nice a story as the ground up fairytale resurrection of BSA the reallocation of another Mahindra model is probably more likely. The rack spoils the lines of the bike. Just like the one I had on my XT500 did when I was young. Good choice of bike, though. I like the idea of a 650cc single. I bet the Scrambler will be very desirable. Nick J

      Thanks Nick for the comment. The rack I probably wouldn't have fitted myself but it's almost become a necessity to carry the camera and tripod around. With BSA panniers and fitting kit coming in at £670 it's not something I'm going to invest in straight away. To be honest even side bags spoil the lines somewhat. Hard to get it right. I will say however that the single is great fun. It feels quite unique from all the other engine designs and makes your ride a bit more relaxing I find... Thanks 👍
