Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

Shout out to the interviewer for her openness in trying something new in front of a master ✊☺️
Thanks Olivia!
yea the interviewer in these videos makes the MOST out of these conversations as much as she can which i really appreciate
For real tho
Proof that the memes were wrong to use the name “Karen” to describe tough to work with people😭
This man is fascinating, and yet, humble and calm. The interviewer is also great, she knows how to extract the best from the guests, and has the same calm, collected energy. What a class in writing!
Thank you! Keep an eye out for our next video with Jack coming this Tuesday at 5pm PST. It's powerful.
How can you not love Jack Grapes!
My addition to this...don't just pay attention to artists and writers. Pay attention to life...you'll see amazing things. Write about them.
this guy is something out of this world.....
This guy is old good school. Thanks for this video
Gotta love this guy. He deserves to be known for being so deep and method
My favourite part was when he said artists talk to each other across time. Thank you so much for creating these interviews! Love from Oslo, Norway.
i don't know what to do with this yet but that was amazing !
Great to see you find some value here Nicolas, thanks for watching!
The Nonsense voice is like an Oblivion NPC. Steve Spiros is a god in that field. Imagine Jack Grapes reacting to Steve Spiros.
impressive improvisation from the man.
She did great! She is the greatest interviewer I have ever heard!
Jack Grape knows Art!
8:45-9:55 love how he brings the focus to the 'big picture' right here...Lewis Carroll Alice in Wonderland is a great example to 'study' read
I love this. I've found Method Writing so so useful, he makes the writing process so accessible. More Jack Grapes please!!!
This was exciting to watch and helpful ❤
Karen you are great. Hugs from Chile
I want to do these prompts with him! I love stuff like this!
This was so good. I immediately thought of Madonna's "Candy Perfume Girl" as an example of Absence of Field. She said she wrote it using magnetic poetry and the song literally makes no sense: "Blue wish window seas
Speak delicious fires…".
Speaking of "waxing poetic" the asides done in 1883 by the character, Elsa, are some of my favorite. The narration done by that actress along with the visuals with each of those moments are beautiful as a whole.
Jack has a vibe of Reggie from Surf's Up, but in positive sense.
Whoa! It's like becoming a sponge of or looking at the framework across multiple disciplines - perhaps even outside of art itself.
I want in his class.😮👏
That was phenomenal.
Thanks for watching Joseph!
AS YOU EXPLAIN IT, you are doing the triplets + changes.
Kudos, sir.
Thank you Jack! Thank you Film Courage!
Always good to get some wisdom from my writing grandpa.
Jack❤️ ( okay so I studied with Jack for like 100 years)
Every writing class, every writing teacher says, “Show Don’t Tell,” but Jack’s Method is the ONLY way I found through that maze. He used to make me recite his rules of “Image Moment.” There’s your clue. Image Moment Saves Writers Lives❤️❤️❤️
Know Brock?
some of the best content I've seen on this channel.. truly next level, thank you!
These are amazing videos. Thank you.
Thank you Corinna!
Listen to Jack.... he's the best.
I have a dog,
I have a dog.
I have a cat,
I have a cat,
My neighbour has a mouse.
this is good knowledge its very useful for artist
Love It!!!!!!!!!!
Strong bud, this one. Love it.
I always write like my characters would talk, according to their personalities, personal experiences, comfort zone levels in that moment and knowing when they feign towards other characters. They have their own little jargon too, not all of them but some do, because that's the most charming about them, their way of seeing the world around themselves and how to cope with all the anvils that life hurls at them in their general direction. I quite enjoy it a lot since most characters are recognized instantly by that without the narrator or another character saying the name of the other one out-loud 🤔 I guess I'm masterizing something but I never went to a writer class nor anything, and these videos makes me think of how much I learnt on my own by being writer without going to one single class about "how to writer".
🔥 series!!! 🔥
This is superb!
That was very cool.
Like this. Very helpful. 👌🏾
Goodness, a true master. I'm watching all his videos!
Good examples of the use of these four modes of expression, in a single text, can be found in the books by Fritz Leiber: Conjure Wife and Our Lady of Darkness
Need to buy his book
this guy! wow!! he sold two more copies just off of this interview!
Such an inspiration! Love this video! Thank you!!
Thank you for watching DonnaLisa!
This was oddly entertaining 😂
Mmmm, 4:47 to 5:17. Now, that's how use a word. That was awesome!
What was your favorite part of this video?
From beginning to end 😊
Evolution
I love the interviewer. She definitely improves the interviews.
reminds me of the song "Strawberry fields forever"
My fav part of this video was watching her attempt to do the 5 styles as he coached her through it so that we better understand how difficult & interesting it all is. I also love how he used the music metaphor because thats a language I feel I understand better & using these techniques in music was the first thing that came to mind subconsciously(I was thinking about how Yoko Ono makes absurbity into music lol but you also have songs that rely on repetitive hooks etc).
Mindfuck lmao
I just spilt muscle milk all over my favorite sweater I hate this life
I cheat! I watch your videos.
Is the song "Loser" absence of field? I always thought there was some meaning in there, but maybe I was just a monkey in the age of chimpanzees.
Amateur writers that do not read the greats and do not appreciate other forms of art are essentially unarmed and ill-equipped to be writers.
Wow, this is hard when you speak it. This reminds me of acting school..
