Given what happened in Moscow just recently with the protests, it's incredibly clear. Don't stigmatize an entire people, criticize the people who lead them. I'm happy so many people understand this distinction instead of falling prey to past examples of this. It's sad that even today, some people consider all German people to be Nazis, or all Chinese people support the atrocities committed by the CCP.
From what I've seen, it seems like most russians oppose this war. As an american, I imagine it as if Trump sent our army to invade Canada. Only the loudest dumbest minority of americans would support it, but the vast majority would be horrified and disgusted. I would never judge the russian people for Putin's actions, just as I hoped I wouldn't be judged for the actions of the fascist dipshit who used to be our president.

This statement is totally on par with metal musicians and fans. Music moves people is so many different ways. I'm a fan of many different genres being a musician myself. I play 7 instruments, classical viola and cello, classical guitar but I'm a metal head at heart and I have never seen racism, sexism, or any other "ism" at a metal show. I've seen people in wheel chairs hoisted high by the crowd so they can see the stage, I've seen 9 year old kids play the drums for a song with their heros, I've seen grown men singlehandedly stop a circle pit in its tracks to pick up a fallen brother/sister. I've personally used my first aid skills to save a life when somebody fell and hit their head. The metal community is probably the most hard-core all inclusive club on the face of the planet. Alex and the other members of Slaughter to Prevail, I think I speak for us all in the community we didn't need the "official statement" but thank you so much for standing up for what metal music actually is.

Given the image of the band, and the violent themes in it's videos, I think this was a really important position to take to remove any ambiguity. I am sure it was not easy to state this publicly, especially given the political atmosphere in Russia which makes the dangers of doing this very real. I salute you for using your popular voice to do the right thing. This helps others do it, too. You can, and have made a difference. Ultimately, this is what your voice, your gift, is for.

Speak for yourself. I see hatered towards people of Russian descent daily. All of my Russian freinds in the U.S. and Canada have been bullied or targeted by people's hatred and prejudiced, every one of them. I'm glad you are one of the good ones, but it doesn't change the fact people are blaming the citizens just as much as Putin, even though most of them have been kept in the dark about what is going on.
Big respect, we metalheads know there are no real boundries between people just the ones we create, we're all one and the same, most people just want a day without conflict, a full belly and a roof to sleep under. Given what happened in Moscow just recently with the protests, it's incredibly clear. Don't stigmatize an entire people, criticize the people who lead them. I'm happy so many people understand this distinction instead of falling prey to past examples of this. It's sad that even today, some people consider all German people to be Nazis, or all Chinese people support the atrocities committed by the CCP.
From what I've seen, it seems like most russians oppose this war. As an american, I imagine it as if Trump sent our army to invade Canada. Only the loudest dumbest minority of americans would support it, but the vast majority would be horrified and disgusted. I would never judge the russian people for Putin's actions, just as I hoped I wouldn't be judged for the actions of the fascist dipshit who used to be our president.

As a US citizen (with our affinity for metal music) I find it silly that it took a band from the Ukraine and one from Russia to get me to really appreciate the art form of metal music and, I'll tell you, it's hard to teach this old dog new tricks .

Big Props to you and your band! We know what a risk you take with this and appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts as fans and citizens of the world.
This statement is totally on par with metal musicians and fans. Music moves people is so many different ways. I'm a fan of many different genres being a musician myself. I play 7 instruments, classical viola and cello, classical guitar but I'm a metal head at heart and I have never seen racism, sexism, or any other "ism" at a metal show. I've seen people in wheel chairs hoisted high by the crowd so they can see the stage, I've seen 9 year old kids play the drums for a song with their heros, I've seen grown men singlehandedly stop a circle pit in its tracks to pick up a fallen brother/sister. I've personally used my first aid skills to save a life when somebody fell and hit their head. The metal community is probably the most hard-core all inclusive club on the face of the planet.
Alex and the other members of Slaughter to Prevail, I think I speak for us all in the community we didn't need the "official statement" but thank you so much for standing up for what metal music actually is.

Given the image of the band, and the violent themes in it's videos, I think this was a really important position to take to remove any ambiguity.

All of my Russian freinds in the U.S. and Canada have been bullied or targeted by people's hatred and prejudiced, every one of them. Big respect, we metalheads know there are no real boundries between people just the ones we create, we're all one and the same, most people just want a day without conflict, a full belly and a roof to sleep under. Despite all the gross demons that sit at the top of our society they're like less than 1%, one day people will realise this and unite despite colour of skin or beliefs hopefully.

It's really brave to come out and make this statement. I know in America we take for granted being able to regularly say what we think and stand up for our beliefs but it's not like that all over the world and Russia has a pretty dark history with people disagreeing with the government.
