Seems like ThemeIsle is way ahead of the block themes competition!
I was expecting a couple of themes from GoDaddy or the Coblocks team.

Top video as usual, deep study, strong analyse and objectives conclusions. One little word, Ollie and Frost block themes are too new to be on the top 20 but they both worth take a look. The David McCan CZcams channel is one of the best sources on new stuff regarding Wordpress.

    Hi David,
once again presented very nicely and calmly. Thanks for that!
It is funny. I also think Raft, Greenshift and Spectra One are the most interesting.
The Otter Blocks (raft) look good at first glance, but unfortunately there is no LTD. That's a flaw for me.
The pricing at Spectra is still unclear, but I hope that there will be an LTD, similar to Astra. But the whole package, theme and blocks are very clean and promising. This could be my combo for simple web projects.
However, I find Greenshift a particularly interesting one, because the associated Greenshift blocks are probably the most powerful of the three. For example, they support Flexbox AND CSS Grid! And what's more, it really works ;)
    And there is an LTD.

Thank you David, i was looking for a confirmation of the quality of Spectra One, and you just gave it. Because Blocksy theme companion had twice collaped the header function at updating the companion or the theme itself, despite the child theme. Do you think this Spectra can work well with the plugin Create Block theme? Your videos are great and deeply invested.🤩

Thanks. This is a very helpful video. Two questions:
    1. How can you tell if a theme is a "clean" block / FSE theme and isn't just a classic theme with block and FSE support? I also see some block / FSE themes that are child themes - what does that mean (especially in relation to the prior question)?
    2. I notice there are block plugins like Spectra and Otter Blocks. Will using them cause compatibility issues in the future and can you use both at the same time? Why or why not?
    Thanks again!

The presence of the Customizer is often a clue of Classic themes, but ultimately it is if they use PHP for creating their templates. You can create child block themes, just like with Classic themes. It means the parent theme has to be installed also.
Block collections, like the ones you mentioned, are great because they fill in the gaps and provide features that Gutenberg doesn't have. You are dependent on them then and if you remove them or they go out of business then you will need to go back to places where you used them and fix any issues. The containers of one block collection usually only work for core and blocks from that collection.

@@DavidMcCanthanks! Is there a way to inspect a theme to see if there's PHP (e.g. download it and look at the source)? On the block collections / plugins... make sense, wasn't sure if the code / blocks that are utilized from the plugins remain in your WP installation after they are removed (not sure if they insert code that then remain dormant, for example).

@@frankvidiyo- In the WP theme directory there is an option to search for block themes. Each block has a name and adds CSS and maybe JavaScript also and the name and CSS are saved with the page when you use them in the editor. When you remove the plugin then Gutenberg can no longer find the block to render it, and so you get a message.

@@DavidMcCan super helpful, thanks again. Wasn't sure if you could actually download the Themes and inspect them. Makes sense on the block plugins.
